Eve Eleni

Hello Berries!
My husband and I finally settled on a name, I guess, unless I can convince him that [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] is a better fit - hear me out:

It came down to [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] (if the baby is born in [name_u]June[/name_u])/[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] (if the baby is born in [name_f]May[/name_f]…) and [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] [name_f]Eleni[/name_f]. I prefer [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] regardless of the month because of the potential for nickname AJ and husband prefers [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] but thinks [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] sounds like a mouthful, even though it’s an honour name for my grandmothers. Neither of us like [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] or [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] because they seem more like a double-barreled first to us at this point.

We finally “settled” on [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Eleni[/name_f], and neither of us are really that thrilled because it’s a compromise where we both lose out on our favorite part of our preferred name. It feels good enough … and that’s it.

I just decided to go over our old list again to see if there was anything that would fit better, and remembered that we both really loved [name_f]Eve[/name_f] but couldn’t figure out a middle name for it, so we ruled it out. It just sort of occurred to me that “[name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Eleni[/name_f]” almost sounds more like [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Leni[/name_f], which makes it more flowing instead of broken, but keeps [name_f]Eve[/name_f] as the formal first.

What do you all think?? Our last name is two syllables, starting with L - also wondering if EEL is too cruel for initials?

Thank you!!!

Honestly, I think most people would find that cool rather than cruel. Especially kids. At the worst kind of odd, but not many people see/notice initials anyway. Seriously, I wouldn’t worry. And of course with marriage the initials would probably change in any case . . .

[name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] is lovely. I prefer it to [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] (though that’s sort of lovely and gazelle-like too!). It’d be so sad if you had to settle for a compromise - hopefully you’ll be able to get him on board!

Side note - you could try find another middle for [name_f]Eve[/name_f] if [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] doesn’t end up working. Our Nameberry community’s pretty awesome at combos!

I think [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] is gorgeous! I’m certifiably biased, as [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_f]Eleni[/name_f], and [name_f]Eva[/name_f] are all three HUGE favorites of mine, so all these options (minus [name_f]Jillian[/name_f]–which is lovely; it just doesn’t make my heart sing like [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_f]Eleni[/name_f], and [name_f]Eva[/name_f] do!) make me giddy! I think [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] is my true favorite, but I dislike the repeated “E” endings. I think [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] is gorgeous, though! Between [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Eleni[/name_f], [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Eleni[/name_f], and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]/[name_f]Mae[/name_f], I’d probably rank them:

[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Eleni[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Eleni[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]

Although, really, the difference in loves is so minute that it’s hardly worth ranking them at all. (Also, I agree, the initials EEL would be cool to me! My initials would have spelled a word if you switched two of the letters–I always thought it was so cool!) Good luck!

[name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] is stunning. I don’t care much for [name_f]Jillian[/name_f], but that is my opinion and although [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] is lovely it’s never been a name that “sung” to me, as ashthedreamer describes. That being said [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] are both winners.

[name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] is absolutely stunning! It’s sweet yet modern and chic.

Thanks everyone! I approached the idea with the hubs tonight and it went over so easily, it was like it was the name we’d been looking for all along!! We still like [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] but think with big sister [name_f]Holly[/name_f] the double “y” ending isn’t ideal. I appreciate your positive/honest feedback very much. It’s been such a tough go of trying to pick a name and I’m so happy to finally have everything figured out! &I love that I’m able to honour both of my grandmothers in the prices
