Goldenrod is the name of the first child in my nom’s family to be born in [name]America[/name]. It’s a a name with a lot of meaning to me and I get mostly positive reaction when I test drive it. That being said, I know it’s not for everyone. I can’t decide which middle I like best. I keep going back and forth. Here are the ones I like best in the middle:
[name]Aurelia[/name]
[name]Phyllida[/name]
[name]Seraphine[/name]
[name]Yara[/name]
[name]Finola[/name]
[name]Minerva[/name]
[name]Sylvie[/name]
[name]Leonie[/name]
[name]Hermione[/name]
Other possibilities I have considered:
[name]Arrietty[/name]
[name]Adelphia[/name]
[name]Fiona[/name]
[name]Soleil[/name]
[name]Calliope[/name]
[name]Ophelia[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name]
[name]Renata[/name]
[name]Amelie[/name]
[name]Verity[/name]
[name]Cressida[/name]
[name]Vega[/name]
[name]Ariadne[/name]
Goldenrod [name]Sylvie[/name] is my pick. It kind of takes a long time to say Goldenrod, KWIM? I like how [name]Sylvie[/name] is kind of slight little name that slips off the tongue, yet substantial enough to follow Goldenrod. Some of the other names just make the whole combo clunky, like Goldenrod [name]Hermione[/name]. The other names I think would help pick up the tempo are [name]Finola[/name], [name]Leonie[/name], & [name]Soleil[/name]. The only name I would utterly and completely get rid of though is [name]Amelie[/name]. The D followed by “AM” is…not good.
Goldrenrod [name]Leonie[/name] would be my pick, but I also really like [name]Finola[/name], [name]Aurelia[/name], [name]Ophelia[/name], and [name]Ariadne[/name]. I think the softer sounding names flow better with Goldrenrod. The d ending makes some of the names sound harsh/less flowy. Also, I agree with saracita about tossing [name]Amelie[/name].
[name]Amelie[/name] is definitely gone. And I understand that what you mean by it taking a while to say.
The story behind the name is my grandma was the only member of her family of 13 to survive the holocaust. She came to the US and married my grandpa and had Goldenrod. She had a heart defect and died at 3. Her middle name was Miep.
Oh, I really, really like Goldenrod!! It’s not one I’d use but since it’s a family name I think it’s too special to pass up! [name]Goldie[/name] would be a cute nn, too.
My favorite of your MN options is [name]Hermione[/name], but Goldenrod [name]Hermione[/name] is alot of syllables…so gorgeous, though. I kind of think it would be wise to choose a more conventional or simpler name with Goldenrod, since Goldenrod is so striking and such a mouthful on her own.
Ooh I like [name]Lenore[/name]. In high school, I went through a “goth” phase and was obsessed with this name (obvious [name]Edgar[/name] [name]Alan[/name] [name]Poe[/name] connection). I love the meaning too (it’s a similar reasoning for liking [name]Seraphine[/name] and [name]Aurelia[/name] so much). I’m glad to see another fan of Goldenrod.
I like Goldenrod! It is unusual and the nn [name]Goldie[/name] is precious! My favorite mn’s from your list are [name]Amelie[/name], [name]Aurelia[/name] and [name]Finola[/name]. I would stay away from Sylie though. ([name]Goldie[/name]/[name]Sylvie[/name]) Makes me want to watch [name]Rudolph[/name] the [name]Red[/name]-nosed Reindeer!
Ok I’ll admit Goldenrod is nms but [name]Goldy[/name]/ [name]Goldie[/name] is a super cute nn. And the story behind the name is lovely…
I like Goldenrod leonie or Goldenrod verity best. The suggestion of Goldenrod [name]Lenore[/name] also sounds sweet.
Goldenrod [name]Io[/name] or goldenrod [name]Isis[/name] are other suggestions
Goldenrod is certainly a bold choice, but I think you can make it work in this case, especially with [name]Goldie[/name] as usable nickname.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any new opinions to offer, but just want to advise staying away from both sylvie and [name]Aurelia[/name]. Goldenrod [name]Sylvie[/name] does sound like gold/silver and Goldenrod [name]Aurelia[/name] is too golden, since [name]Aurelia[/name] means golden. I know most ppl wouldn’t know the meaning, but still.
I really like Goldenrod [name]Phyllida[/name], [name]Sylvie[/name], [name]Fiona[/name], and [name]Ophelia[/name]. They compliment the name but also “tame” it down a bit. I think Goldenrod is beautiful.
It is a bold choice, I can definitely agree with that. I get strange looks sometimes from people with my kids’ names. Some people think I made them up, like [name]Juniper[/name] is just a kree8tyv spelling of [name]Jennifer[/name] and Pyrus is just The [name]Aiden[/name]/[name]Hayden[/name]/[name]Jayden[/name]/[name]Kayden[/name] of [name]Cyrus[/name]. A quick google search usually fixes those assumptions. Most people really love their names though and they suit them. I think it will probably be that way with Goldenrod too, except the flower is definitely more well known than either of my little “tree spirits”. Here they are btw:
