Ever fallen OUT of love with a name?

I’m a wolf-lover since I was a little girl and even insisted that my friends called me ‘Flow’ (backward spelling of wolf) in elementary school. Haha! I still have my handwriting of ‘Flow’ neatly written on some of my stationary. Such lovely memories.

Of course, now I’m laughing at how ridiculous I was.

Yes, with [name_m]Axel[/name_m]. I used to love it, but now I think it’s…nasty, to be honest.

This happens to me all the time, especially because when I was younger I had a vastly different name style than I do now. Though sometimes I fall back in love with the name.

I feel exactly the same with [name_f]Ella[/name_f] - it was my favourite for years and then suddenly became massively popular and now I can’t stand it.

I was in love with [name_f]Clara[/name_f] but now that I am newly pregnant I just can’t see myself using it on an actual child! Anyone else experience loving a name pre-pregnancy and then once you can actually use it you can’t see it on a child?

I used to really like [name_u]Aidan[/name_u] when I was younger (I had a friend called [name_u]Aidan[/name_u] who is now 24) but I’m not so much a fan anymore because it’s so popular. I also used to really like [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] for a girl with the nickname [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] and always thought I’d use it but I couldn’t imagine using it now.

Oh yes, this happens to me a lot. I guess your brain just gets bored of certain names after a while, even ones that you thought you’d love forever. But don’t treat this like a huge deal – it’s normal, it happens to everyone, so get out there and find some new names to obsess over!

You might like [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]…

You may also consider some fresh alternatives to the names you used to love; i.e., [name_f]Elle[/name_f] or [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Ella[/name_f], Viola or Violetta instead of Violet.

Girls
[name_f]Lila[/name_f]- I was 100% sure this would be my daughters name when I was a teen. Now I see as over done and boring

Boys
[name_u]Spencer[/name_u]- now I see it as too preppy

I loved [name_f]Jordana[/name_f] to the end of the universe and back for many, many years, and was pretty set on using her on my first born girl. Then, all of a sudden, not so long ago, all I could see was [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] with an -a tacked on and it just ruined it for me.

That said, I do still like [name_f]Jordana[/name_f] a lot, I just don’t love her like crazy anymore.

Amazing responses!!! I’m not sure in entirely out of love with [name_f]Violet[/name_f], but [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] and [name_f]Ella[/name_f] have fallen by the way side!
