I know a lot of people like names less after meeting people with that name, for a bunch of different reasons like realising it’s more popular than they thought or the fact the person wasn’t very nice and gave them a bad association.
But have you ever liked a name more after meeting someone with it?
I’ve never really been a fan of the name [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]. I don’t really know why, it’s just not the sort of name I really like and it’s never appealed to me.
But a few days ago I met a young lady named [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] and she was really quirky, fun and friendly and since then it’s appealed to me more as a name.
I was wondering if this has ever happened to anyone else?
Yes! Some of the names that I have positive associations with: [name_m]Alistair[/name_m], [name_m]Graham[/name_m], [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u], and [name_m]Bruce[/name_m]. I first met [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] when I was probably around 8, and I’ve loved the names ever since.
I didn’t like it. I didn’t dislike it either… it was just “meh”.
And then I’ve met an [name_m]Archie[/name_m]. It’s not even his full name, his full name is [name_m]Arkady[/name_m], but he goes by [name_m]Archie[/name_m] most of the time (there are no obvious nicknames for [name_m]Arkady[/name_m]). He’s the kindest, warmest, friendliest, happiest, most understanding and forgiving person I know, to say the least. He’s just perfect. (By the way, no, I’m not in love, he’s a bit too old for me!)
Now I like the name [name_m]Archie[/name_m] so much it makes me smile every time I see or hear it! I’ve even started considering using it for my future baby despite my personal rule not to use nicknames.
I’ve also warmed up to [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] because of fictional characters that I liked.
[name_m]Angus[/name_m].
I was never fan, but I went to Australia and I my host brother`s name was [name_m]Angus[/name_m], and he had the biggest sense of humor! Now I love that name!!
Yes!! That happened to me for both of our girls first names!!
When we were trying to figure out our first girls name I met an [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]. I had always disliked [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] because I couldn’t fall in love with any of the longer, more formal versions. But this [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] was not short for anything. I mentioned it to my husband, and he agreed. [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] [name_f]Bea[/name_f] became our first girl.
With our second child, another girl, I had no idea [name_f]My[/name_f] husbands mom and grandmas names were [name_f]Anna[/name_f], I knew them as [name_f]Ann[/name_f] and [name_f]Louise[/name_f]. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] I always overlooked for some reason. When we got a congratulations card from his grandma her return address label said [name_f]Anna[/name_f], not [name_f]Ann[/name_f]. I instantly fell in love. Then he proceeded to tell me his mom goes by her MN [name_f]Louise[/name_f], but her first name is [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. I love them both so it just felt right to name our second girl [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. I know, it’s not them same thing, but almost.
Definitely has happened to me. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a couple/few months ago I met a [name_u]Paisley[/name_u]. [name_u]Paisley[/name_u] has special meaning to us and after meeting an actual [name_u]Paisley[/name_u] in-person made me love the name more. It also showed me that a human being can actually pull-off the name. This young woman was very sweet and kind. The opposite has happened also. A little terror on the playground, mom yells their name hundreds of times, big turn-off.
