Ever met an Elm?

I’ve been thinking about new names to add to my list, and I love nature names. A new one that came to mind was the name “[name_u]Elm[/name_u]”. For girls, it could be a unique alternative to all the “[name_f]El[/name_f]-” names, such as [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f] or [name_f]Elsa[/name_f]. For boys, it could be an interesting, uncommon name in the Nature category, fitting in with other names, such as Alder, [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] & Oleander.

Have any of you ever met an “[name_u]Elm[/name_u]”? What was your initial reaction to the name?

I’ve never met an [name_u]Elm[/name_u], but I think it’s an interesting name! It may work better as a middle because while it’s beautiful on paper, it’s a bit hard to end on the ‘lm’ sound for me. I really want another vowel at the end to finish the ‘m’ sound, but [name_f]Elma[/name_f] is not nearly as pretty!

There are other ways to get that [name_u]Elm[/name_u] sound:

Adelma

[name_f]Elmera[/name_f]
[name_f]Elmina[/name_f]
[name_f]Elmira[/name_f]
[name_f]Elmyra[/name_f]

[name_f]Helma[/name_f]
[name_f]Helmine[/name_f]

[name_f]Nelma[/name_f]

[name_f]Selma[/name_f]

[name_f]Telma[/name_f]

[name_f]Thelma[/name_f] and [name_f]Velma[/name_f] and [name_f]Zelma[/name_f] and [name_f]Welma[/name_f]…

[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f]

I have yet to meet an [name_u]Elm[/name_u], yet fervently hope to. I love it as a male name, though of course it could be either.

I love flower and tree names.

I’ve never met an [name_u]Elm[/name_u] but I think it’s a beautiful name! So interesting. I love nature, word names!

I’ve never met an [name_u]Elm[/name_u], but I have met an [name_u]Elm[/name_u]-er!

I think [name_u]Elm[/name_u] would make a cool name or middle name. I picture [name_u]Elm[/name_u] to be an outdoorsy type of person.

I’ve never met an [name_u]Elm[/name_u] either but I think it’s beautiful! I like it as a middle name too

Wonderful…

Which gender do you guys see this name on more?

No, but I’d like to. It’s a nature name but a sturdy one - simple and solid enough to feel grounded, which many of them don’t to me. I think it works equally well on either gender, but I think I like it on a girl sliiiightly more.
