I pronounce [name_u]Everest[/name_u], EV-ə-rest. I think it’s perfectly fine with your surname. I do not think it is too “mountainy”. I personally prefer [name_u]Everett[/name_u] over [name_u]Everest[/name_u] but it is a very handsome name.

I pronounce it with three syllables, EV-er-est. Since your last name isn’t actually [name_u]McKinley[/name_u], I think you’re fine. I don’t think anyone is going to look at your name and think, ‘[name_m]Gee[/name_m], that looks an awful lot like [name_u]McKinley[/name_u]…can’t believe they named their kid [name_u]Everest[/name_u]! Too mountainy!’ lol And as you mentioned, the mountain is called [name_u]Denali[/name_u] now anyway.

While [name_u]Everest[/name_u] is not really my style and I much prefer the more traditional [name_u]Everett[/name_u], I still think it is a good name. =]

I too pronounce it Ev-er-rist. I’m from the UK. I think its an AMAZING name and fits perfectly well with your last name.

As for pronunciation, I say Ev-uh-rest.
