Evie or Genevieve?

We want to call our little girl [name]Evie[/name] but are unsure about using it as a nickname for [name]Genevieve[/name] or as a first name in itself. I wonder if [name]Evie[/name] is too cutesy or if it will grow with her.

I’d say [name]Genevieve[/name]. I also know an [name]Evie[/name] who is [name]Evelyn[/name]. But I love [name]Genevieve[/name]!

Another vote for [name]Genevieve[/name], nn [name]Evie[/name]! I think that [name]Evie[/name] is a very sweet name, but I think of it as a nickname for [name]Eve[/name], [name]Eva[/name], [name]Evelyn[/name], [name]Evangeline[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name], etc. I have a hard time picturing [name]Evie[/name], just [name]Evie[/name], on an adult, and I think it would be nice to have [name]Genevieve[/name] as another option.

I think that [name]Genevieve[/name] is an amazing name!

Good luck!

[name]Evie[/name] was a popular name 100 years ago.

The risk with going with [name]Genevieve[/name] is that she’ll end up with some other nn, like [name]Gen[/name], and not the one you wanted for her.

I think [name]Evie[/name] is a little cutesy, but it can grow with her, too.

I love [name]Genevieve[/name]! I think [name]Evie[/name] is too cutesy and nicknamey (which isn’t a word  for a girl to grow up with. She can decide to go by [name]Genevieve[/name] with all its elegance when she’s an adult and if [name]Evie[/name] doesn’t fit her, [name]Genevieve[/name] has many other nns. So another vote for [name]Genevieve[/name]!

[name]ITA[/name] with [name]Lilli[/name]. [name]Genevieve[/name]!

[name]Genevieve[/name] is absolutely gorgeous! I think [name]Evie[/name] is definitely way too cutesy. [name]Genevieve[/name] is elegant and classy, very sweet with the nickname [name]Evie[/name]!

I know an [name]Evie[/name] in her 30’s so I don’t consider it too cutesy for a grown up. [name]Genevieve[/name] is nice because it gives her the option to go by either name.

Is [name]Evie[/name] a legitimate nickname for [name]Genevieve[/name]? I keep thinking it’ll be a bit confusing for her because although you see it written within the name you don’t hear ‘[name]Evie[/name]’ when you say it. [name]Do[/name] you think it’s kind of cheating - because actually they’re quite different names?

I like options

I think [name]Evie[/name] can definitely work on its own. I knew a girl called [name]Evie[/name], and it grew up well.

That being said I love [name]Genevieve[/name], and [name]Evelyn[/name], and I’m going to use one of these for a daughter when I get around to it, and use [name]Evie[/name] as a nickname.

So I’d say go with whatever option you like best!

I like [name]Genevieve[/name], but I’m going to vote for [name]Evelyn[/name] nn [name]Evie[/name]!
