I think it’s a really beautiful name - your daughter will be happy
When I first read the title and saw the name Evienne, I immediately thought of French food and the Eifell [name]Tower[/name] in [name]Paris[/name]. I didn’t even think of the [name]Evian[/name] Water association until you mentioned it.
I love that it’s a unique name, and no other little girl will be named Evienne. It’s almost too unorthodox for me. I think it’s trying to accomplish to many things, combining [name]Eve[/name] and [name]Vivienne[/name]. I love the singularity of the name, but I don’t think it flows very well. I don’t like any names ending in -enne. I hate the way it sounds. Sorry, just my opinion! [name]How[/name] about [name]Elise[/name]? Continues with the “[name]Eli[/name]” theme, but a bit more conventional.
I think your middle name choice of [name]Sophia[/name] is interesting, as you are contrasting a very French sounding first name to a very Spanish middle name. I personally would think it’s better to go with another French name, as French names just go best with other French names. I just think the contrast in the ethnicity of the names is a bit stark.
[name]Sophia[/name] is the name of my great-great-Grandmother and she was Norwegian, not spanish. I like it because it is a beautiful name, not because it is or isn’t used in a specific language.
Evienne [name]Sophia[/name] is a beautiful name…
seriously… gorgeous.
and the nn [name]Evie[/name] is perfect…
i’d definitely advise you to go for it…
I like Evienne… I know that you don’t wanna hear anything about the evian water but I have to say that it’s not THAT similar… I mean, you could associate something to nearly every name?!?
I love the name, it’s one of my favourites, I like the way you spell it better though!
I absolutely love the name Evienne. I actually thought I made it up years ago but then found the lady in the lake too which made it even better.
I think [name]Eve[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] is fine on it’s own. Why need a longer name? I’m not a fan of Evienne, it looks kind of made up. Some other [name]Eve[/name] options:
Evett
[name]Evonne[/name]
[name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Everly[/name]
Would you be pronouncing it eh-vee-ENN, ee-vee-ENN, EE-vee-en, or EH-vee-en?
I think it is okay although personally I think [name]Eve[/name], nn [name]Evie[/name], is gorgeous and don’t find it too short for a first name. It’s quite like giving a little girl the first name [name]Anne[/name] and calling her [name]Annie[/name].
[name]Vivienne[/name] would be so, so much better. Evienne is made up tat.
I’m with elisabeth rae in that I am not sure how to pronounce it. I would say [name]Evie[/name] as EE-vee, but I keep saying Evienne as eh-vee-ENN, so I’m having some issues with the nickname. I love [name]Eve[/name] and I know a little 18-month-old [name]Eve[/name] who is so gorgeous and intelligent (my favorite to babysit). She is [name]Eve[/name] [name]Marie[/name] and her nickname is [name]Evie[/name]. I think [name]Eve[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] is just beautiful!
I also think that [name]Vivienne[/name] can easily give you [name]Evie[/name] as a nickname! It has all the letters you need to realistically make the connection and it has the sound with the second “vi” to give you the necessary sound to make EE-vee.
Good luck! and the [name]Evian[/name] association doesn’t really enter my mind so I find it interesting that people continually say that to you especially if you say it eh-vee-ENN because I say [name]Evian[/name] EH-vee-ahn and they just sound so different to me!
You say that you have found your perfect name. However, I agree with a previous poster that if you keep asking for opinions it is probably because you are unsure of the name. You should figure out why/what makes you unsure and ask yourself if it really is (or isn’t) the perfect name for you.
BTW I think it sounds beautiful. It reminds me of [name]Etienne[/name], which I like as well.
I usually hate ‘smoosh’ names but I honestly don’t mind this one. I think the names were similar enough already that it works. Someone made a comment about her not being taken seriously - I think that’s being a little harsh. In a world of kids named Swayze, [name]Miller[/name], [name]Precious[/name], and [name]Clementine[/name], I think she’ll be fine. Usually the person tends to change our opinion of a name. For example, I love the name [name]Beth[/name] because every [name]Beth[/name] I’ve known has been sweet. I like the name [name]Blake[/name] in theory, but worked with a [name]Blake[/name] who I hated, so could never use the name. People who meet Evienne will associate the name with the kind of person she grows to be.
I think it’s simply beautiful.
Naitza, [name]Etienne[/name] is the French masculine for [name]Stephen[/name], not a girls’ name. [name]Just[/name] a heads up.
Yes, I realize [name]Etienne[/name] is a boys name. I just meant the sound was similar. Sorry I wasn’t clear.
I think it has a beautiful sound but wonder if others will have the same confusion over EE-vee-en, EH-vee-en, eh-vee-ENN, etc. That would actually put me off the name more than the [name]Evian[/name] water assoc would.
This is a thread from [name]November[/name] 18, 2009. I doubt this woman still needs our opinions.
It is from 2009. I didn’t notice that! Lol
My daughter was born in 2001 and she has this name spelled this exact way. I chose this spelling because I did not want it associated with the water and because I assume that most everyone can pronounce [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] so EVIenne should not be hard to pronounce. Now at 12 most people just call her [name_f]Evi[/name_f] because it’s easier for them. But thought I would share. I actually heard it originally on the movie Superstar btw.
