Exciting Name Find/s

I just discovered (rediscovered?) Andalusia! I am rather excited. She makes me think of Andalusian horses, so beautiful. Andalusia sounds so lush and rich and full to me. So much character.

-[name_m]How[/name_m] do you pronounce Andalusia? (I heard it said And-ah-LUE-[name_f]Zee[/name_f]-ah)

-Is an unusual name with familiar sounds like Andalusia, just going to get generically nicknamed since it’s unfamiliar to most people? (Ex. [name_f]Ann[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_f]Andie[/name_f], [name_u]Lou[/name_u])

-[name_f]Share[/name_f] any exciting name finds you’ve made recently! Bonus if they’re very rare or unexpected.

I would say it Ahnd-a-loo-sha. I have no idea if that’s right. It may get generic nicknames, but it’s lovely!

This isn’t a discovery, but I’ve been thinking about the name Perenelle recently.

Roran (for a boy)!! I love this so much!

Quentin as well. I hadn’t really heard it before a few weeks ago and I have now fallen in love!

  • I’m not to familiar with the name but I pronounced it And-ah-[name_u]Lou[/name_u]-E-Za.

  • Probably but it depends, if you have a specific nickname you like and you use it often it will probably stick.

  • I found the name [name_f]Ilaria[/name_f] and I love it! [name_f]Camellia[/name_f] and [name_f]Emberlyn[/name_f] are some names I found recently too

I would say it an-duh-LOO-zhuh (like the way the S sounds in “measure”).

I recently saw the name [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f], which was cool for me because I’ve never actually met one before and the most common spelling is [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]!

I’m not sure whether I’d say and-ah-loo-sha or and-ah-loo-see-ah, but I agree it is pretty! Great find. I think it would probably get nicknamed but not because it’s unusual, just because it’s long. I’d call her [name_u]Andy[/name_u]!

Andalusia as a girl name? wow It really shocks me because I live in Andalucía hahahaha, most children here always tell the joke: [name_f]Anda[/name_f] Lucía! (Walk! [name_f]Lucy[/name_f])

I say And-ah-loo-zhuh. I know of a town with the name, and I’ve never heard it pronounced any other way.

I don’t think it’ll necessitate a nickname. It’s the same length as [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], and there are plenty of girls who go by that in full. If you don’t attach a nn to the name, I don’t think anyone else will, and perhaps that’s because it’s so unusual. Everyone assumes [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] is [name_u]Abby[/name_u] because they typically are. But few people, if any, have every met an Andalusia, so how would they assume a nn?

I discovered Laniakea a few days ago and am kind of crushing on it.

Andalusia is interesting! I would pronounce it Ahnd-ah-loo-zee-ah

I like this potential name pronounced as An-da-lusha.
