Expected triplets--surprise 4th baby delivered

No, not me, I haven’t turned into a nameberry troll. I don’t know if anyone has posted this yet, but a woman in Mississippi delivered identical quadruplets after only expecting triplets. She is 42 and according to the article, she did not use fertility drugs. Wha…? The odds are “almost incalculable” for something like this.

The couple chose all K names to go with sister [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f]. Kenleigh, [name_f]Kristen[/name_f], [name_u]Kelsey[/name_u], and [name_f]Kayleigh[/name_f].

That is insane! As to the odds of it happening, they have to be vanishingly small. But your odds of conceiving multiples does increase with age (since either releasing multiple eggs or the eggs dividing are defects that increase with the age of the woman.) That had to be a huge surprise!

I think Kenleigh and [name_f]Kayleigh[/name_f] are much too close in sound, but they probably had to come up with something fast.

I just came to check the forums to see if this had been shared yet!
I totally cringed at the names of the girls… What a wasted opportunity, at least in the eyes of the name nerds of the world!

haha, I totally agree with @anotherkate - they could have done much better! I was wondering if it was about a troll at first (although not about you at all, @r_j!), as a “cyber friend” of mine claimed to have twins, and then a third baby popped out. She WAS a troll, so you can sense my hesitation. What a crazy story!

I liked the middle names they picked, though. They were [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Sue[/name_f], [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f], and [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]. I prefer [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] to [name_f]Sue[/name_f], but I like all of the middles. Maybe they will go by those. It is going to get confusing, yelling all of those K names, especially Kenleigh and [name_f]Kayleigh[/name_f].

With [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f] set, I’d have named 4 girls…[name_u]Alix[/name_u], [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f], [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] & Pelagie. Anyone else up to the challenge?

[name_f]Katelyn[/name_f], Kenleigh, [name_f]Kristen[/name_f], [name_u]Kelsey[/name_u], and [name_f]Kayleigh[/name_f]? Are we back in the 90s? What a wasted opportunity. Cool story though.

What a wasted opportunity they all sound too similar, two of them also have an R middle name. Surely they could’ve found nicer K names at least. [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]? [name_f]Kara[/name_f]? [name_f]Kaia[/name_f]?

Oh dear, their names are awful. To me, the most surprising thing was the mother’s age - she’s only 42. She looks, well, a lot older.

For those of you saying “what a wasted opportunity”, all children are blessings and names don’t make them wasted opportunities. So happy for the mother, and I honestly think that the K theme is cute in this case.

The K names are totally cringe worthy. K names are tough. I don’t even love 4 K names. She could have gone with some C names.
I was a bit surprised by the woman’s age, based on the pic of her.
She is so lucky to have a baby at her age! What a surprise to have 4! I wonder why the 4th one wasn’t detected?
Congratulations to her!

btw - If it were me, their names would have meaning… Maybe Eve, Nina, Valentina and Ilaria

I don’t think anyone was dismissing the children themselves. It’s a name site and people were commenting on the names is all–I don’t think anyone views their children solely as a naming opportunity, but naming IS part of the fun. Naming multiples is often a name nerd’s dream; that’s why so many fakers make threads about them!

[name_f]Em[/name_f], when I said a wasted opportunity I mean about the names they are too close. If I were to have quads after having a [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f] I would have named them [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Nahla[/name_f] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f].

inward cringe [name_m]Even[/name_m] if the babies are miracles, their names are sooo tacky! The letter K is overused and shouldn’t have been used for the woman’s four children! Oh, if only I would have had four kids!

@ranier all five of her kids have K names she has an older daughter named [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f]

When I read the article, my first thought was “They should have used the middle names as first names!”

Oh my goodness, quads at 42! [name_f]My[/name_f] mother and aunt claim pregnancies in their late thirties were miserable, I can just imagine the time that woman had. Not really a fan of the names either, k names aren’t generally my favorite.

Okay, but if you had surprise quadruplets girls and for some reason you HAD to give them all K names, which names would you choose?

The only K name I can think of that I like is [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]. I like plenty of C names, but I do not prefer them spelled with a K, all Kardashian style.

I am going to assume that her ten year old daughter insisted that they all have K names to match hers and that the mom agreed to this in exchange for the ten year old being cool with suddenly having four baby sisters to help with. The names just sound like a ten year old girl picked them to me.

If I had a [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f], I would probably name them trendier names I like, but not with a “K” theme. Like [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], and [name_u]Hadley[/name_u].

If I had to name them all “K” names, I don’t know. Most of the “K” names I like are variations of [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], which [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f] is already ([name_f]Katherine[/name_f] - [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] - [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f]). But if I ignored that, then probably [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], [name_f]Kalliope[/name_f], [name_f]Kara[/name_f], and [name_f]Kaia[/name_f]. [name_f]Kara[/name_f] and [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] are matchy, and [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f], [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], and [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] are DEFINITELY matchy, but my hands are pretty tied here, lol.
