We just learned our little bundle is a boy. Our top name pick is [name]Dashiell[/name], to be nicknamed [name]Dash[/name]. We agree. It’s amazing.
The only issue: my sister suggested [name]Dash[/name] may not work well with our last name. We can’t decide if she’s right.
Is [name]Dash[/name] Simmons too awkward?

It doesn’t matter if the nickname flows with the last name, I don’t think. [name]Dash[/name] Simmons isn’t too bad anyways. And I love [name]Dashiell[/name]! I spell it with only one L, but it doesn’t change the name and it’s AWESOME.

[name]Dash[/name] Simmons doesn’t have the best flow, but it doesn’t sound bad either. [name]Dashiell[/name] Simmons pairs nicely and I think it is a great name. Since you and your husband both like [name]Dashiell[/name], I suggest keeping it as a top contender and see if any other names pop out to you. Congratulations on the upcoming birth of your son!

I think [name]Dashiell[/name] Simmons works just fine. No flow problems at all. [name]Dash[/name] Simmons doesn’t have quite as great of a flow, but it’s fine, no major issue at all. [name]Dashiell[/name] is a nice name. Solid choice.

If [name]Dash[/name] Simmons is going to be his day-to-day name then yes it’s awkward. It doesn’t flow well but there are far worse combos

Is [name]Dashiell[/name] pronounced dash-EEL or dash-ee-[name]ELL[/name]?
[name]Dashiell[/name] should be pronounced “da-SHEEL” (like writer [name]Dashiell[/name] [name]Hammet[/name]) but most people pronounce it more like “dash-uhl”. [name]Dash[/name]/[name]Dashiell[/name] Simmons is heavy on the s’s but it’s not a deal-breaker.
