For about most of the pregnancy or so we had settled on the name [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Ife[/name], however a couple weeks ago my sister in law gave birth to twin girls, one of them an [name]Amelia[/name].
She did not know what we had chosen so there is no blame there, its just a little frustrating since the baby is due at the end of [name]June[/name].
There are other names we have considered including [name]Jemima[/name], [name]Ileana[/name] and [name]Freya[/name]. Its just we’re not 100% happy with the options, or close to.
[name]Ife[/name] is a set middle name as it is honouring my grandmother.
Our little girl is joining my husband’s daughters from another relationship [name]Calla[/name] and [name]Elsie[/name] and our son [name]George[/name].
So I was wondering if I might have a few suggestions that could work with [name]Ife[/name] and possibly with the other children. We’re not fans of alliteration, so no names that start with C, E, and G. Or N, B and H (our last name) for that matter.
I’m sorry about the criteria, this will most probably be our last child so there is a struggle for perfection sort of.
Here are some names that remind me of [name]Amelia[/name], or that I think match your childrens’ names stylistically:
[name]Cecelia[/name] or [name]Celia[/name] - I know you said no C’s, but [name]Cecelia[/name] and [name]Amelia[/name] have a similar sound, and the C in [name]Calla[/name] and the C in [name]Cecelia[/name] make very different sounds.
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Aurelia[/name]
[name]Julia[/name] or [name]Juliette[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name]
[name]Anna[/name]
[name]Fiona[/name]
[name]Isla[/name]
From your list, I think [name]Freya[/name] is very pretty.
Thank you! I quite like [name]Lydia[/name] and [name]Fiona[/name] from your list. I do like [name]Celia[/name] but we probably won’t use it though. And we have nieces named [name]Isla[/name] and [name]Annie[/name]-[name]Grace[/name].
I really love [name]Freya[/name]. I think that would be my pick. I also love the suggestion of [name]Lydia[/name], too. [name]Freya[/name] is still my number one for you.
[name]Freya[/name]! I love it:) I also really like the suggestions of [name]Fiona[/name], [name]Lydia[/name], [name]Arabella[/name], and [name]Delia[/name]. [name]How[/name] about [name]Eloise[/name], [name]Isolde[/name]/[name]Isobel[/name], [name]Annabella[/name], [name]Rosalie[/name], [name]Flora[/name]/[name]Fiora[/name], or [name]Adele[/name]? [name]Just[/name] from the top of my head. Good luck:)
If the only name you truly love for this baby is [name]Amelia[/name] then you should still use it. [name]Just[/name] explain to your [name]SIL[/name] and brother that you had chosen this name for the baby early in the pregnancy, you tried finding a name you love as much after your niece was born but none felt right, and you apologize if this upsets them but you ask that they understand and respect that you need to give your daughter the right name, not just any name. Then throw in another apology. If they make a big deal over it, then they are being unreasonable. If your niece doesn’t go by a nn, your daughter could or one could go by their first and middle. It’s not really that big a deal for them to have the same name. However, I love the name [name]Freya[/name] so that gets my vote if you would really rather choose a different name.
[name]How[/name] close are you to s-i-l, geographically and relationship-wise? Two cousin Amelias that live far away won’t see each other much. [name]Will[/name] the two Amelias have the same last name?
[name]Both[/name] my mom’s cousin and one of her nephews married women with my name. When they told their wives my brother’s name they both loved the sibset. [name]One[/name] named her first born- a boy- my brother’s name, the other named her first born- a girl- a variant of my bro’s name. There was no issue because we aren’t that close and we all have dfferent last names
So if not [name]Amelia[/name], I’d go with [name]Freya[/name] or [name]Jemima[/name]
@nat108-We are close, she was my MOH at my wedding and and we hang out sometimes. So it would be weird to have both daughters’ named [name]Amelia[/name], including the fact that we live in the same city. They won’t have the same last name though.
I do quite like [name]Freya[/name] [name]Ife[/name], there seems to be universal appeal in this topic. Hubby isn’t so sure though, he hears the “fray.” But it isn’t too much of a problem to him.
I also like the suggestions of [name]Viola[/name], [name]Sophia[/name] and [name]Louisa[/name].
