Expecting Twins, Would Love Some Opinions And Ideas

I have been lurking around these forums for quite some time during my pregnancy and decided to sign up today because my husband and I have a dilemma:

We are finding no luck in finding any names that we love for our 3rd/4th children. We are expecting twins (we will find out the genders at the birth) so it has become more difficult.

I think part of the problem is that with our other children when we heard their names we knew they were the one, The Thats Us, Thats Our Children Moment.

So when it comes to this pregnancy nothing has stuck out, we like some names but we don’t love them.

Here are some of the names we have thought about:

[name]Lucy[/name] (Gorgeous but oh so popular around our area)
[name]Anya[/name] (It keeps popping up in my head, but I feel like it doesn’t have much oomph for us)
[name]Felicity[/name]
Tuala prn Too uh la(I really like this, he does too but is it a little weird?)

[name]Rupert[/name] (I love the nn Roo, but [name]Rupert[/name] feels a little pretentious)
[name]Cillian[/name]

So how do you feel about these names? What would you pair with them B/B, G/G, G/B? Or maybe suggest some new names, we would love your help.

I suppose I should add that our other children’s names are [name]Hugo[/name] and [name]Susanna[/name] , and that the middle names we are thinking of or their variants are [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Anne[/name], [name]Claudia[/name], [name]Donal[/name], [name]Gerald[/name], [name]Joseph[/name], [name]Eamon[/name] or [name]Jack[/name].

I should also add that we’re not looking for any word names as our last name is a 1 syllable colour name.

We are due at the end of [name]September[/name], so plenty of time to look things over but we would love to have the same feeling again that we had with [name]Hugo[/name] and [name]Susanna[/name].

Thank you for your time,

[name]Melody[/name].

[name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Rupert[/name] are fab! They fit really nicely with [name]Hugo[/name] and [name]Susanna[/name] too, a little old-fashioned (which is a good thing!) but not too predictable. I think [name]Dulcie[/name] is similar in feel to [name]Lucy[/name], but less common. And [name]Rufus[/name] would be a nice alternative to [name]Rupert[/name] if you wanted one, keeping the nn Roo (this was once my cat’s name, now used as a nn by my brother, sister-in-law and neice! Clearly it has something!)

I like your mns [name]Claudia[/name] and [name]Jack[/name]. Also a fan of ‘T’ names that are a bit unusual - you might consider [name]Tullia[/name], [name]Thecla[/name], [name]Thea[/name], [name]Tallulah[/name], [name]Tabitha[/name], [name]Tessa[/name]…

Sorry am not very good at thinking up sibsets, but always happy to comment on others’ suggestions! Congratulations & best of luck

PS [name]Flora[/name]/[name]Florence[/name] just came to mind too, dunno if your style.

bob=kate-Thank you I quite like the suggestions of [name]Rufus[/name] and [name]Flora[/name]. [name]Tullia[/name] is interesting though I’ve never heard of it before, is it pronounced Too lee ah?

[name]Hi[/name] [name]Melody[/name], congrats on your pregnancy and welcome to Nameberry. From your list, I like [name]Felicity[/name] with [name]Hugo[/name] and [name]Susanna[/name]. I find [name]Anya[/name], Lucy and Rupert a little matchy with [name]Hugo[/name] and [name]Susanna[/name]. (Anya/Anna and Hu/[name]Su[/name]/[name]Lu/Ru[/name]). Here are some suggestions.

[name]Veronica[/name]

My favorites are also [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Rupert[/name], though I do think [name]Cillian[/name] (prn. [name]Killian[/name]) is nice as well.

But I don’t know if I think [name]Rupert[/name] and [name]Cillian[/name] are great matches for a B/B twin set. When I think of [name]Rupert[/name] I think of classic, vintage names and would match it with something like [name]James[/name], [name]Miles[/name], [name]Nigel[/name], [name]Alfred[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Arthur[/name] or [name]Walter[/name]. My favorite of these combos would be [name]Rupert[/name] and [name]Arthur[/name], and I think that they match [name]Hugo[/name] REALLY well!

With [name]Cillian[/name] I think of old Celtic names such as [name]Rohan[/name], [name]Aidan[/name], [name]Cormac[/name], [name]Connor[/name], [name]Eamon[/name], or [name]Sullivan[/name]. And I don’t think these go as well with [name]Susanna[/name] and [name]Hugo[/name].

For your other girls names (other than [name]Lucy[/name]) they are really not my style.

Thanks for your input guys!

@mischa-I like [name]Ezra[/name], [name]Marcus[/name], [name]Greta[/name], [name]Petra[/name] and [name]Imogen[/name] (though [name]Imogen[/name] is rather popular around my area as well).

@danishnames-Yes, I don’t think [name]Cillian[/name] and [name]Rupert[/name] go well together but they are names we like individually. I like [name]Arthur[/name] for the nickname [name]Artie[/name] but it feels a little fusty if that makes sense, thats probably the same problem I have with [name]Rupert[/name]. Thank you for your advice on old Celtic names ([name]Cillian[/name]) its making me think twice about using it.

I’m going to bed now, but can’t wait for the responses in the morning. I also need to discuss these names with my partner especially the name [name]Greta[/name].

Your name choices are all beautiful. Here are some others if you’re still searching…

Boys
[name]Eli[/name]
[name]William[/name] ([name]Will[/name])
[name]Finn[/name]
[name]Samuel[/name] ([name]Sam[/name])
[name]Benjamin[/name] ([name]Ben[/name])
[name]Jack[/name]
[name]Isaac[/name]
[name]Leo[/name]

Girls

[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Phoebe[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name] ([name]Nell[/name])
[name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Jane[/name]

I like the U sound uniting all the sibs name-- [name]Hugo[/name], [name]Susanna[/name], [name]Rupert[/name], and [name]Lucy[/name] are are lovely sibset. If [name]Lucy[/name] is too common, maybe [name]Lucia[/name], [name]Lucretia[/name], or [name]Lucinda[/name] instead? [name]Louisa[/name] would work well too.

A few other U sounding names:

[name]Julia[/name], [name]Juliet[/name]
[name]June[/name], [name]Junia[/name]
[name]Eugenie[/name], [name]Eugenia[/name]
[name]Claudia[/name] (as a fn)

[name]Rufus[/name]
[name]Cassius[/name]
[name]Marcus[/name]

After a bit of talking today we have taken [name]Cillian[/name] off our list, my partner is lukewarm about [name]Marcus[/name] and [name]Ezra[/name] reminds him of [name]Ezra[/name] [name]Miller[/name] from “We need to talk about [name]Kevin[/name]” who played [name]Kevin[/name] and he does not like it at all. :frowning:

[name]Greta[/name] garnered the same reaction as [name]Marcus[/name] but I think he is quite interested in [name]Petra[/name] which after a day of thought has captivated me a little as well.

I was playing around with middle names with [name]Petra[/name] and here is what I came up with, do they work?

[name]Petra[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Petra[/name] [name]Liana[/name]
[name]Petra[/name] [name]Lillia[/name]
[name]Petra[/name] Sibeal
[name]Petra[/name] [name]Isabel[/name]

[name]Petra[/name] [name]Anais[/name]
[name]Petra[/name] [name]Anouk[/name]

@waitingfortwins-I really like [name]Benjamin[/name] but sadly its been used by my brother, [name]Eli[/name] is gorgeous as well but to DH it feels insubstantial. I like your girl name suggestions but a few of them have been chosen by family and friends ([name]Phoebe[/name], [name]Ruby[/name], [name]Claire[/name], [name]Janet[/name]).

@davisellu-Thank you about pointing out the U connection, I actually hadn’t realised it till now (isn’t that silly!) [name]Juliet[/name] is gorgeous but the [name]Shakespeare[/name] connection might be too much though [name]Junia[/name] is lovely as well and I think DH quite likes it as well. We’ll just have to determine whether its right for us.

Overall thanks for the input would love to see more feedback.

I really like [name]Petra[/name]! I think of your combos, I like [name]Petra[/name] [name]Liana[/name] best, but they all sound nice. I was going to suggest [name]Ruben[/name]/[name]Reuben[/name] for a boy name. Still has the nn Roo, and is very underused. It is less stuffy than [name]Rupert[/name] to me, but that may just be personal experience. Good luck!

@whit32-I really like [name]Reuben[/name]! I suggested it to my husband and he really likes it too, we might have a winner in the boys department.

Here is our updated list:

[name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Junia[/name] ([name]Junie[/name])
[name]Petra[/name]

[name]Reuben[/name]

I really like the B/G pairing of [name]Reuben[/name] and [name]Petra[/name], but that would mean that [name]Petra[/name] does not share the U connection with her brothers and sisters. Is that a problem, or could I solve it by using an U inspired middle name like [name]Petra[/name] [name]Claudia[/name], [name]Petra[/name] [name]Anouk/name [name]Petra[/name] [name]Annuska[/name]?

I’m glad you like it! I think [name]Petra[/name] would sound fine with the others. I didn’t notice the U theme until someone mentioned it. Using a middle name with a u would help tie her in with her siblings, if you are worried about that. I think all the combos you mentioned are nice. Good luck
