Ps. I would especially love it if you could choose an ideal sibset of 2 girls and 2 boys out of this list- even better if you explain your choice

Firstly I will admit that I am no expert, but I do love names so hopefully that will do!
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]: [name_u]Love[/name_u] the sound/look dislike the meaning. However this name is still on my own list although only for a middle (I particularly like it with Esmée to get the nickname [name_f]Edie[/name_f]). I think [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] is a spunky & adventurous name and I imagine it on a little girl with plaits in her hair and mud on her knees! I also like [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] as a nn.

[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]: like mainly for the nicknames [name_f]Nell[/name_f] or [name_f]Nellie[/name_f]!

[name_f]Pandora[/name_f]: I’m unable to get over the association of [name_f]Pandora[/name_f]'s box and the store.

[name_f]Isadora[/name_f]: Again on my own list and I like the nn [name_f]Dora[/name_f], I hadn’t thought of [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] and I like it! Spunky!

[name_f]Isabeau[/name_f]: I prefer [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] or [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]

[name_f]Ginevra[/name_f]: [name_m]Harry[/name_m] Potters girlfriend/ wife! But adventurous.

[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]: Like & it’s versatile

[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]: [name_u]Love[/name_u] it, as its also on my own list! Timeless!

[name_m]Gulliver[/name_m]: and his travels! So Definitely adventurous

[name_u]Roscoe[/name_u]: Spunky & unexpected. like.

[name_m]Riordan[/name_m]: Like.

[name_m]Caledon[/name_m]: [name_u]Haven[/name_u]'t heard this before so not sure but I do like [name_u]Cal[/name_u]

[name_m]Elwood[/name_m]: Like it, love the nn [name_m]Woody[/name_m] definitely an adventurous individual

[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] :  My top boys name! So [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Love[/name_u]!

[name_m]Whittaker[/name_m]: Not sure,

[name_m]Barnaby[/name_m]: I actually quite like this name and would love to meet a [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m]

[name_m]Roderick[/name_m]: Old man (and my mums ex, so a no from Me!)

Sibset:

Well as I have them both in a sibset on my own list I am going to start off with:

[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] & [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] and with them I would say [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m], because I think to meet brothers [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] & [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] would be amazing and cool! For a girl I am torn between [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] & [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], but I think I will go against my own rule of liking the meaning for a first name and go with [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]. So we have…

[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m], [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m], [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] & [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] ([name_m]Raffi[/name_m], [name_m]Barney[/name_m], [name_f]Dora[/name_f] & [name_f]Della[/name_f])

I don’t know if my opinion counts as expert, but…

[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] ([name_f]Della[/name_f], [name_f]Dede[/name_f]): This name sounds girly and pretty. I can imagine a girl with this name being proudly feminine. Out of your nn options, I like [name_f]Della[/name_f] better. [name_f]Dede[/name_f] just sounds ditsy imo.

[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] ([name_f]Nell[/name_f], [name_f]Nellie[/name_f]): I’ve really warmed up to this name. It sounds cute for a young girl, but I can also see it on a grown up as well. I think it has a sort of country-esque vibe to it, although the mythological association gives it more history and culture. I like plain [name_f]Nell[/name_f] better, but I guess you could use [name_f]Nell[/name_f] and [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] interchangeably.

[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] (Panda, [name_f]Dora[/name_f]): This sounds cute and quirky. I could imagine a girl with this name being artistic and individualistic. She’d have dark hair and dark eyes. Panda as a nn seems a bit silly and takes away from an already unique name. I don’t care for [name_f]Dora[/name_f] either, but I can more easily understand it being used as a nn for [name_f]Pandora[/name_f].

[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] ([name_f]Dora[/name_f], [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]): I’m tired of seeing this name, but it’s not bad. I can imagine another dark haired girl with this name, with light eyes and freckles. This name sounds very down to earth. Again, not thrilled by [name_f]Dora[/name_f] or many of the same reasons I disliked it for [name_f]Pandora[/name_f]. I feel like it waters down an already interesting and unusual name. As for [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], I don’t see the point in using an already established name as a nn for another name that’s completely unrelated. If you want to call her [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], just name her [name_f]Sadie[/name_f].

[name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] ([name_u]Beau[/name_u], [name_u]Izzy[/name_u]): This feels like the more fashionable version of [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], which is maybe why I picture it on a luxurious, sophisticated girl. The spelling might trip people up and it might get misheard for [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] on occasion, but those are really the only two downsides I can think of.

[name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] ([name_f]Gigi[/name_f]): Reminds me of [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] from [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m], but it doesn’t remind me of her personality. Like [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f], I can also see this on a posh young lady.

[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] ([name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Della[/name_f]): Kind of overused these days, but still a lovely name. It reminds me of a friend from school who is super sweet and artistic.

[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] ([name_f]Gigi[/name_f]): Sounds regal, but still wearable for a modern girl. I could imagine [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] with dark, curly hair and being the designated smart girl of her friend group.

[name_m]Gulliver[/name_m] (Gully, [name_u]Gus[/name_u]): I’m just going to warn you, our taste in boy names is not the same at all, so if I come off as a little harsh, I apologize. For [name_m]Gulliver[/name_m]: I’d probably assume the parents liked literature, or at least liked [name_m]Gulliver[/name_m]'s Travels. It’s not a name I’d want for myself, but I think the nn [name_u]Gus[/name_u] makes it more sensible.

[name_u]Roscoe[/name_u] ([name_f]Ro[/name_f], [name_m]Rocky[/name_m]): Sounds very edgy and cool. I can see [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u] being a rocker type.

[name_m]Riordan[/name_m] ([name_u]Rory[/name_u], [name_u]Rio[/name_u]): The only [name_m]Riordan[/name_m] association I have is [name_m]Rick[/name_m] [name_m]Riordan[/name_m], author of the [name_u]Percy[/name_u] [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] series. That’s a good association, I guess. I don’t really understand the nn [name_u]Rio[/name_u] though, considering the name is pronounced Reer-dan, if I’m not misled.

[name_m]Caledon[/name_m] ([name_u]Cal[/name_u]): Sounds like a name for a knight. Also the jerk fiance from the movie Titanic. I could imagine a boy name [name_m]Caledon[/name_m] being blonde.

[name_m]Elwood[/name_m] ([name_m]Woody[/name_m]): Sounds old fashioned. The nn [name_m]Woody[/name_m] either reminds me of [name_m]Woody[/name_m] [name_m]Allen[/name_m], which only reinforces the old association, or [name_m]Woody[/name_m] from [name_m]Toy[/name_m] [name_u]Story[/name_u].

[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] ([name_u]Rafe[/name_u], [name_m]Raffy[/name_m]): I can’t really pin a certain personality on this name. I don’t know, I suppose it has a goes-to-private-school-highly-privileged-white-boy vibe to it…?

[name_m]Whittaker[/name_m] (Whitt): Reminds me of a kid I went to school with with this name. He was a skater and pretty laid back from what I could tell during the few interactions we had. If I didn’t know that guy, I probably wouldn’t have an opinion on this name.

[name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] ([name_m]Barnes[/name_m]/[name_m]Barney[/name_m]): Sounds very upper-class and sort of snobby.

[name_m]Roderick[/name_m] (Rook, [name_m]Roddy[/name_m]): I could see a [name_m]Roderick[/name_m] being an all around average kind of guy. I don’t get the nn Rook though, it just makes me think of chess.

Sibsets:

[name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] & [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f]
[name_m]Caledon[/name_m] & [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m]

[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] & [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]
[name_m]Roderick[/name_m] & [name_m]Riordan[/name_m]

Wow your responses are amazing! Thank you so much, I really appreciate the time you’ve taken to reply with such thought and detail!
Also in my mind anyone who regularly visits nameberry must be an expert haha!
Again, thanks very much, this has given me a lot of food for thought.

I’m certainly no expert but I hope my opinion can help, even in the slightest!

[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] ([name_f]Della[/name_f], [name_f]Dede[/name_f]): This is a lovely, feminine name that makes me think of a strikingly beautiful, dark haired girl; very bubbly, soft spoken and a photographer. I can picture someone with a plentitude of friends and a passion for blogging. It’s a great choice and I like [name_f]Lila[/name_f] as a nn.

[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] ([name_f]Nell[/name_f], [name_f]Nellie[/name_f]): This name has a great balance of it’s known but not used often. A name that will certainly stand out for all the right reasons. I imagine Scottish highlands, cabins in the woods, antique bookshops and nights in with close friends.

[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] (Panda, [name_f]Dora[/name_f]): This is one of my favourite unusual names. It’s lovely to say, looks grand when written down and has a fantastic story. It will definitely stand out from all the [name_f]Emma[/name_f]'s, [name_f]Lily[/name_f]'s and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]'s. The nn of [name_f]Dora[/name_f] is just an added bonus.

[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] ([name_f]Dora[/name_f], [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]): [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] is such a graceful, feminine name! It makes me think of the ballet and soft spoken, well mannered ladies. Pastel blues and modern cafes also come to mind. [name_f]Dora[/name_f] is a beautiful nn, too.

[name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] ([name_u]Beau[/name_u], [name_u]Izzy[/name_u]): I’ve never been very fond of this name. It looks very pretty but the sound of it sounds quite… rugged and choppy; or at least to my ears. Despite that though, I can imagine a dark haired, studious girl who makes friends easily who often says things without thinking them through beforehand. The nn of [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] is nice.

[name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] ([name_f]Gigi[/name_f]): I don’t see many people favouring this name so it’s a lovely little surprise to see it on your list! But this name, to me, sounds quite vintage, with its wonderful southern European charm. I see this gem on a shy little girl with long red hair, maybe an only child and quite reserved. I get a very distinct aesthetic with this name: bookworm, cable knit sweaters, mugs of cocoa, hair thrown up into a messy bun, etc. I think [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] would be a better fit for a nn, or even [name_f]Neve[/name_f].

[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] ([name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Della[/name_f]): This has been a favourite of mine for a good three or four years, and I love the nn [name_f]Addie[/name_f] for it. I imagine a long, light brown haired little girl who enjoys tap dancing, makes plenty of humorous comments and is fond of many creative arts. I can picture someone who likes to travel and isn’t afraid to speak their mind, someone who can’t carry a tune to save their life but belts out any song the radio plays. I get a fun feeling from this moniker.

[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] ([name_f]Gigi[/name_f]): This name feels fresh and will definitely work on a child today. It makes me think of ivy clad buildings, grand architecture, champagne, white summer dresses, warm sunny days, white doves and good memories. I’m not too sure how I feel about [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] as a nn, perhaps [name_f]Eve[/name_f] or [name_f]Gen[/name_f]?

[name_m]Gulliver[/name_m] (Gully, [name_u]Gus[/name_u]): I like the nn options but the ending of [name_m]Gulliver[/name_m] really puts me off this choice. I can’t get over the “liver” end for some reason. I do imagine a chubby boy with curly locks and afternoons spent swimming. I can see him only having a few good, close friends and a strong love for comics and robots.

[name_u]Roscoe[/name_u] ([name_f]Ro[/name_f], [name_m]Rocky[/name_m]): I’ve never liked this name. It always seems misshapen somehow. I don’t think it has that certain something to make it stand out. I can’t imagine much for this name, despite a lovely tanned complexion and palm trees. Maybe a brown haired boy who likes football and time spent in Spain. [name_m]Rocky[/name_m] is a good nn, I like it!

[name_m]Riordan[/name_m] ([name_u]Rory[/name_u], [name_u]Rio[/name_u]): I love the unique feeling to this name. It certainly has a fantastic charm and a stand out from the crowd flow. I can picture an artistic boy with umpteen friends and a good strong family. A boy who enjoys science lessons and isn’t afraid to go one step further for those in need. The kind of boy someone would like to bring home to meet the family.

[name_m]Caledon[/name_m] ([name_u]Cal[/name_u]): This is certainly a different name. I’ve never heard it before but I imagine a dark skinned boy with a bright smile and a loud laugh. Someone who plays plenty of sports and likes to think of himself as a charmer. He isn’t afraid to be a bit cheeky, either. [name_u]Cal[/name_u] is a good, strong nn.

[name_m]Elwood[/name_m] ([name_m]Woody[/name_m]): I really like this name. It’s a fresh name, one with plenty of charm. It makes me think of weekends spent camping, hours spent studying, pet goldfish and pastel colours. The nn [name_m]Woody[/name_m] is so lovely! I love this choice, it’s one of my favourite choices, for sure.

[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] ([name_u]Rafe[/name_u], [name_m]Raffy[/name_m]): I’ve never liked this name but I can see why a lot of people favour it. I think it has a strong artistic and musical feeling and I’m able to picture this on a bubbly boy, someone with plenty of friends, perhaps a skateboarder, someone who lives near the seaside. I think they’d be from a large family and close to each member. [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] and [name_m]Raffy[/name_m] would be nice nn that you can use interchangeably.

[name_m]Whittaker[/name_m] (Whitt): I have heard this being used within the last few years and over that time it’s been growing on me. I don’t have much to say about this besides that I can see someone with this name growing up to become a teacher of mathematics or the sciences. A brown haired man, strong yet reserved.

[name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] ([name_m]Barnes[/name_m]/[name_m]Barney[/name_m]): This is my favourite name on your list. I’ve loved it for so long and it’s been on my own list for years now. There’s many aspects that attract me to [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m]. It has a fantastic sound, looks wonderful when written down and the abundance of nn add to the usability. Both the nn you have listed are perfect choices. [name_m]Barnes[/name_m], [name_m]Barney[/name_m], [name_m]Barn[/name_m], Arn, [name_m]Arnie[/name_m], Arby.

[name_m]Roderick[/name_m] (Rook, [name_m]Roddy[/name_m]): I knew a boy with this name back when I was nine or ten. He was popular, funny, sporty and had a younger brother named [name_m]Brock[/name_m]. Personally I don’t see much attractive qualities about this name so I don’t have much to say about it.

My favourites from your list that I think would make a good sibset are: [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m], [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], [name_m]Elwood[/name_m] and [name_f]Pandora[/name_f]. I think they all share similar qualities and sound beautiful together. Though [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] would fit in there too, I think!

[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] ([name_f]Della[/name_f], [name_f]Dede[/name_f])- I can understand the appeal, but this name has never been a stand out for me- probably because I’ve always preferred [name_f]Delia[/name_f] and [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]. [name_f]Della[/name_f] is a cute nickname, I’m not the biggest fan of [name_f]Dede[/name_f].
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] ([name_f]Nell[/name_f], [name_f]Nellie[/name_f])- I love [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]! Super spunky yet classic, and it has such great historical roots. My favourite nicknames tend to change all the time, but right now I’m loving [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] nn [name_u]Pepper[/name_u] (I also like [name_f]Posey[/name_f]). [name_f]Nell[/name_f] is a sweet nickname while [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] is far more spunky, you can’t go wrong with either of them!
[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] (Panda, [name_f]Dora[/name_f]- [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] is firmly a GP for me, I think it’s a beautiful name but its a bit too tied to pop culture. Panda would be an adorable nickname, though. Almost makes me reconsider
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] ([name_f]Dora[/name_f], [name_f]Sadie[/name_f])- This is a long time favourite of mine! I’m not a fan of either nickname- [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] is just so perfect by itself, I’d never want to shorten it. If I had to choose a nickname, it would be [name_u]Isa[/name_u].
[name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] ([name_u]Beau[/name_u], [name_u]Izzy[/name_u])- I’m off and on with this name, sometimes I love it and sometimes I find it a bit blunt when said aloud. [name_u]Beau[/name_u] would be a cool, unisex nickname! I feel like [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] could easily be mistaken for [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], which kind of takes away from the beauty of [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f].
[name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] ([name_f]Gigi[/name_f])- [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] is definitely tied to [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] for me, even though it wasn’t commonly known to be [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] Weasley’s first name. [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] is one of my favourite nicknames ever, but personally I’d use [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] or [name_f]Brigitte[/name_f] to get there.
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] ([name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Della[/name_f])- [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is a city in Australia, so I’ve never been able to really connect it to a human being. I think if you were going to use [name_f]Ada[/name_f] as a nickname, you should just call her that? [name_f]Della[/name_f] is my favourite, and I also like the idea of Lady.
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] ([name_f]Gigi[/name_f])- I prefer [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] to [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f], though its still not my favourite. Like I said before, I love, love, love [name_f]Gigi[/name_f].

[name_m]Gulliver[/name_m] (Gully, [name_u]Gus[/name_u])- I’m neutral on [name_m]Gulliver[/name_m], it’s not my style but I understand the appeal. I like Gully but I don’t think [name_u]Gus[/name_u] really works
[name_u]Roscoe[/name_u] ([name_f]Ro[/name_f], [name_m]Rocky[/name_m])- I love [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u]! Both [name_f]Ro[/name_f] and [name_m]Rocky[/name_m] are super cute nicknames.
[name_m]Riordan[/name_m] ([name_u]Rory[/name_u], [name_u]Rio[/name_u])- I’m not 100% on [name_m]Riordan[/name_m] (like the author?) but I love the nicknames. Both are stand alones on my list.
[name_m]Caledon[/name_m] ([name_u]Cal[/name_u])- This one sounds super cool/fantasy-ish. [name_u]Cal[/name_u] as a nickname isn’t my favourite but [name_m]Caledon[/name_m] itself is pretty cool.
[name_m]Elwood[/name_m] ([name_m]Woody[/name_m])- This is really not my style at all. [name_m]Elwood[/name_m] would be cool as a middle name, but I wouldn’t use it as a first personally. [name_m]Woody[/name_m] is really tied to the [name_m]Toy[/name_m] [name_u]Story[/name_u] character for me.
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] ([name_u]Rafe[/name_u], [name_m]Raffy[/name_m])- [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m]! I think its such a fun, epic name! Out of the two nicknames, I would choose [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] ([name_m]Raffy[/name_m] sounds a bit childish) but personally I wouldn’t use one at all.
[name_m]Whittaker[/name_m] (Whitt)- [name_m]Whittaker[/name_m] is firmly a surname for me, but I’ll admit that Whitt is a cool nickname.
[name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] ([name_m]Barnes[/name_m]/[name_m]Barney[/name_m])- I feel like [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] is one of those vintage names that really isn’t back in fashion yet. [name_m]Barnes[/name_m] would be a cool nickname, but I really don’t like [name_m]Barney[/name_m].
[name_m]Roderick[/name_m] (Rook, [name_m]Roddy[/name_m])- [name_m]Roderick[/name_m] is pretty dated where I live (I know a few middle aged [name_m]Rod[/name_m]'s) but Rook is such a cool nickname I think I could look past that.

The sibset I would choose is [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] ([name_f]Nell[/name_f]), [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] ([name_u]Beau[/name_u]), [name_m]Gulliver[/name_m] (Gully) and [name_m]Riordan[/name_m] ([name_u]Rory[/name_u])
