Ezer...?

What do you think? It’s a Hebrew boy’s name but for some reason is almost never used these days. For various reasons we have vetoed almost every other old testament name in common usage, but we like this.

Is it too out there? Too obscure?

Is it a long E? ee-zer? It makes me think of [name_m]Ebenezer[/name_m] Scrooge…

[name_m]Ezer[/name_m] it is because zis name sounds like “either” in a strong accent… or it’s because the name in general sounds and feels awkward. Not a fan.

[name_m]How[/name_m] is it pronounced? EE-zer, or EH-zer? I have a preference for EH-zer, though then this just makes me think of [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], which I like

Not a fan. I’d go with [name_m]Ebenezer[/name_m] of [name_m]Ezra[/name_m].

I’m pronouncing it Eh-zur in my head and I quite like it. I quite like it because it is unusual and there will not be a lot of little boys running around with this name.

Also, pronounciation wise, I guess it is pronounced however you wish to pronounce it

If it’s Ee-Zer I don’t like it. If it’s Eh-zer it will be constantly confused with [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] I would think.

As someone who speaks Hebrew [name_m]Ezer[/name_m] seems weird as a first name as it is a noun in hebrew meaning help, not a name. I also know several people with the surname [name_m]Ezer[/name_m] (prn. Ee-Zure). However, if you were to use the correct pronunciation would be Eh-Zehr

Looking at all the other comments, I think your child would probably have a lot of pronunciation issues. I prefer [name_m]Ezra[/name_m].
