Ezra for a girl?

I know it’s traditionally a boys name but it feels so feminine to me.

Can you imagine it on a girl or no?

Thank you!

I prefer it on a boy, but I can see why it would feel feminine to you. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]Ezri[/name_u] or [name_u]Aza[/name_u]?

I always used to hear it as feminine until I got used to a few famous male Ezras so I know where you’re coming from!

I think it is workable as a girl’s name but most will still think of a boy first. [name_u]Ezri[/name_u] feels more outright feminine to me.

I can imagine it, but I’m a fan of traditional boy names on girls

This one bugs me a lot tbh. [name_u]Ezra[/name_u] on a girl is one of my pet peeves, just for personal reasons. I can’t picture it at all tbh, but I suppose I can see how others could.

I will say that [name_u]Esra[/name_u], [name_u]Ezri[/name_u], [name_u]Isra[/name_u], and Asra are all feminine names. [name_u]Esra[/name_u] has the same pronunciation as [name_u]Ezra[/name_u] too. So it bugs me to see [name_u]Ezra[/name_u] being used as a girl’s name when [name_u]Esra[/name_u] is a legitimate girl’s name and it so similar. I feel the same way when I see people use [name_u]Noah[/name_u] for a girl when [name_u]Noa[/name_u] is a girl’s name. I like gender-bending, but I’m always confused by this.

I can see how it sounds feminine, but people will assume that an [name_u]Ezra[/name_u] would be a boy.

Personally, I’m really not a fan of [name_u]Ezra[/name_u] on a girl. Despite the -a ending, it does not seem at all like a girls name to me. Like @SparkleNinja18 I also like gender-bending names, but I just can’t get behind this one.

I really like it! I know a little girl named [name_u]Ezra[/name_u] so it feels feminine to me

I think it’s beautiful. Some people might say it’s too masculine, however if [name_u]James[/name_u] is being used as a girls name (by [name_u]Blake[/name_u] Lively and [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] [name_m]Reynolds[/name_m]) then [name_u]Ezra[/name_u] is perfectly fine. In my opinion, most guys names can be used as girls names, especially nowadays. I say go for it :))

I cannot.

I love it! Totally see it for a girl!

No. It’s a traditional, Biblical boy’s name. Please don’t use it on a girl.

Ezra for a girl is becoming more popular for girls, but it is still definitely more of a boys’ name. I just can’t see it on a girl.

Ezra for a girl isn’t a problem at all. It’s a nice name and [name_u]Esra[/name_u] is very common for girls in other languages!

I can but [name_u]Esra[/name_u] is more feminine too me.

Yes why not! I like [name_u]James[/name_u] + [name_u]Bay[/name_u] for girls x

Sure, it certainly has a feminine enough sound and loads of names have gone from being male to unisex/female. I’d definitely go with an obviously feminine middle name though.

I personally cannot see [name_u]Ezra[/name_u] for a girl.
