I expect [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] will win your poll, but I’m intrigued by [name_u]Tavi[/name_u]! I rarely see it mentioned, but it’s got a wonderful strong, striking sound and is far less expected than [name_m]Ezra[/name_m].
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m] is a fine name, but to me it’s starting to feel like the automatic go-to for people who like [name_u]Noah[/name_u], [name_m]Eli[/name_m], [name_m]Asher[/name_m] and the like but want something less popular. I think it will continue to climb pretty rapidly. I can certainly see the appeal, but it excites me much less than [name_u]Tavi[/name_u].
Both are great. I agree that in intrigued by [name_u]Tavi[/name_u]. I voted [name_m]Ezra[/name_m]. It had such presence and it’s very handsome.
I prefer [name_u]Tavi[/name_u] (are you saying [name_m]Tah[/name_m]-vee or [name_u]Tay[/name_u]-vee?). As @katinka has said, I find it a really interesting name, although I struggling to find much consistent info on it. But I like it particularly as [name_m]Tah[/name_m]-vee for a boy. It sounds a bit like [name_m]Harvey[/name_m], which I’ve always thought is sweet, but more exotic and cool.
I prefer [name_m]Ezra[/name_m]. Although I prefer [name_m]David[/name_m] (love the nickname [name_m]Dax[/name_m]) over [name_m]Ezra[/name_m]. I feel neutral about [name_u]Tavi[/name_u].
I think we’re gonna go with [name_u]Tavi[/name_u] (tah-vee) because it has such a strong meaning. We’ve waited so long for this little miracle to come into our lives that the meaning of [name_u]Tavi[/name_u] is just more fitting.
Thank you all for your votes!
[name_m]Ah[/name_m] that’s great! I love that pronunciation and it sounds like it has a lot of meaning for you too :).
My husbands middle name is [name_m]Ezra[/name_m]. I find it quite attractive obviously haha
[name_m]Taavi[/name_m] is the Finnish form of [name_m]David[/name_m]. It isn’t a nickname. Personally I prefer [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], but if it’s the meaning you’re after choose [name_m]Taavi[/name_m]. It’s certainly the more distinctive choice.
This is exactly what I was thinking! [name_u]Tavi[/name_u] is so refreshing to see, but I can’t imagine it could beat [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] in a poll like this. [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] is sadly becoming very expected.
Maybe you like Kasra, Asra or [name_u]Isra[/name_u]? They’re wonderful, unexpected alternatives to [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] that deserve a little more attention… [name_u]Isra[/name_u] is a Spanish variant of [name_m]Israel[/name_m], but also an Arabic name (feminine) that means ‘nocturnal journey’. Asra is related to [name_u]Isra[/name_u] (fem.), but another member of this forum, @lailanotlilah, had a great-uncle named Asra (I’m sure it’s okay to ask her about it if you’re interested!) Kasra is an ancient Persian name meaning ‘king’ which I was also introduced to by another member here (@tfzolghadr).
I voted for [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], but I like [name_u]Tavi[/name_u] as well. It’s true that [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] is becoming more popular by the day, and [name_u]Tavi[/name_u] is a refreshing choice. But in general I like some other Hebrew names better, like [name_u]Ari[/name_u] or [name_m]Dov[/name_m].
[name_u]Tavi[/name_u]! I love it and have it on my own list as well. It has such a calm and friendly sound to it. [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] is nice, but [name_u]Tavi[/name_u] definitely wins in this poll for me.
