I’ve posted before for ideas but now I have some firm favourites and have run some past DH.
Please vote for your favourite boys names and your THREE favourite girls name to go with big brother [name]Ezra[/name] [name]Michael[/name].
If you have any other suggestions I’d love to hear them too but no more boys biblical names because I think I’ve gone through them all and these are the only ones we can agree on.
I like [name]Micah[/name] from the boys’ list-- it has a pleasant, open sound and obviously shares a style family with [name]Ezra[/name]. [name]Benjamin[/name] is so, so much more common than [name]Ezra[/name] it seems a bit bland (and can make [name]Ezra[/name] look odd), and [name]Joel[/name] just doesn’t appeal to me as much aesthetically. I feel like you have to half-swallow the name when pronouncing it.
From the girls: I don’t think you need to necessarily choose a biblical name, as you’d really be painting yourself into a corner should you have any more children. Definitely something quirky and vintage, however (i.e. something like [name]Saffron[/name] imo really doesn’t work).
I like:
[name]Viola[/name] (beautiful, uncommon, Shakespearean, antique)
[name]Tabitha[/name] (an Aramaic, [name]New[/name] Testament name, which avoids you being stuck in the Hebrew Bible rut; pleasant sound, also antique)
[name]Felicity[/name] (sweet, feminine, crisp; also vintage)
Unless you want two boys names ending in the same sound, I would eliminate [name]Micah[/name]. [name]Benjamin[/name] seems very long next to [name]Ezra[/name] but if it’s shortened to [name]Ben[/name] it wouldn’t be too bad. My favourite is [name]Joel[/name] - short, handsome and at No# 133 last year in the US, it’s still pretty uncommon like [name]Ezra[/name].
For [name]Ezra[/name]'s sister, I would avoid other girls names ending in “a”. I think these names would be great “fits” with [name]Ezra[/name].
[name]Abigail[/name] - Popular but gorgeous with [name]Ezra[/name].
[name]Harriet[/name] - has the same vintage charm as [name]Ezra[/name] and the nn [name]Hattie[/name] is adorable.
[name]Naomi[/name] - A great Biblical name and lovely with [name]Ezra[/name].
[name]Felicity[/name] - This “happy” name works well with [name]Ezra[/name].
[name]Mary[/name] - It would be quite refreshing to see a little [name]Mary[/name].
[name]Josephine[/name] - Vintage, majestic and elegant. A longer name but if it’s shortened to [name]Posey[/name] of [name]Jo[/name], it would be lovely.
[name]Miriam[/name] - A lovely Biblical name with a soft sound.
[name]Joel[/name] is the clear winner for me in terms of the boys’ names. For girls, I love your list. My top 3 would be [name]Sarah[/name], [name]Josephine[/name] and [name]Naomi[/name] Iin that order). You really can’t go wrong as your have beautiful taste.
[name]Benjamin[/name] is definitely my favorite of the boys! We’re still debating between [name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Isaac[/name] for our baby. [name]Benjamin[/name] is just one of the overall best names of all time. It has history, lots of great namesakes, a nice sound, good nickname potential, and no downsides. It’s definitely more popular/well-known than [name]Ezra[/name], but it has just as much class.
[name]Felicity[/name] is my favorite of the girls! I actually have a daughter named [name]Felicity[/name] (the cutie in my avatar)! I think it’s such an underused name. It has a great meaning, a long history, the adorable nicknames “[name]Lissie[/name]” and “[name]Flick[/name]” and gives off such a friendly yet sophisticated vibe.
[name]Ivy[/name] is my 2nd vote! It’s short but packs a punch. It gives gorgeous imagery and is very classy. It would fit extremely well with [name]Ezra[/name]!
My 3rd fave of the girls is [name]Hazel[/name]. It would compliment [name]Ezra[/name] perfectly because it’s classic but little-known in the modern day and has a pleasant sound. The fact that they both have ‘z’ sounds is an unnoticeable but nice way to tie the names together.
[name]Ezra[/name] and [name]Micah[/name] is definitely my favorite for two boys. As for the girls I’m a bit more torn. [name]Ezra[/name] and [name]Ivy[/name], [name]Ezra[/name] and [name]Hazel[/name], or [name]Ezra[/name] and [name]Viola[/name] are the standouts for me.
Boy: [name]Joel[/name]! A completely different sound than [name]Ezra[/name], but similar feel in popularity (or lack thereof) and a cute matching 4 letters long.
Girls: [name]Naomi[/name] has a gorgeous meaning and a strong yet feminine sound, I think it fits nicely. Plus it is Hebrew in origin just like [name]Ezra[/name].
[name]Hazel[/name] is a very unexpected but seemingly perfect option! I love that they would share a Z but still sound unique.
[name]Miriam[/name] is certainly not one that I would have thought of, but when I saw it on your list I just felt like it would fit so well. Also Hebrew.
I honestly can’t choose a favorite girl name, those are all such amazing options. Good luck to you! =]
[name]Amelia[/name] ([name]Millie[/name]) - ok
[name]Abigail[/name] - there are much better names
[name]Eliza[/name] - lovely
[name]Harriet[/name] - masculine
[name]Martha[/name] - masculine
[name]Sarah[/name] - dislike
[name]Naomi[/name] - ok
[name]Ivy[/name] - as [name]Abigail[/name]
[name]Tabitha[/name] - ok
[name]Felicity[/name] - ok
[name]Thea[/name] - ok
[name]Mary[/name] - dated, and too popular to use. She would probably be only one with this name, but through history it became insanely popular, so this put me off. If this name wasn’t so popular, I think I would like it.
[name]Josephine[/name] - ugly
[name]Saffron[/name] - ugly, but better than [name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Hazel[/name] - masculine
[name]Miriam[/name] - masculine
[name]Lilian[/name] - can’t imagine little [name]Lilian[/name]
[name]Jemimah[/name] – [name]Jemima[/name] is blah, [name]Jemimah[/name] is ugly
[name]Viola[/name] - lovely.
Well as I have [name]Micah[/name] on my list for a boy too, as well as [name]Ezra[/name] then that has to be my favourite option - [name]Ezra[/name] & [name]Micah[/name] for brothers.
[name]Felicity[/name], [name]Tabitha[/name], [name]Jemima[/name] and [name]Harriet[/name] are my four favourites for a sister.
I definitely vote for [name]Micah[/name] from the boys list.
For girls, I like:
[name]Ivy[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Saffron[/name]
I also love [name]Hazel[/name] but with an [name]Ezra[/name] and a [name]Hazel[/name], I would feel the need to find more “z” names for future children.
I like [name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Ezra[/name] a lot! Especially as [name]Ben[/name] or [name]Benji[/name].
I think the idea of [name]Hazel[/name] and [name]Ezra[/name] is really cute! They have a “z” in common but aren’t too similar sounding. The only problem would be then if you have a third you would have to do a “z” name as well. I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Harriet[/name] and [name]Ezra[/name], I don’t know they just sound so perfect together for me. [name]Do[/name] you think you might do nn [name]Hattie[/name]? Those two are definitely my favorites, I like a few others like [name]Felicity[/name], [name]Josephine[/name], and [name]Miriam[/name], but [name]Harriet[/name] and [name]Hazel[/name] are the two that are perfect to me.
