I feel like I don’t see [name_m]Fabian[/name_m] much on here, even though it seems like a very “Nameberry” name to me: solid, traditional, international, not too popular…
What do you think of it? I’m really falling for it at the moment!

It’s one of my favorites! I first discovered it in a book (same book where my love for [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] comes from, actually!) in middle school and it’s always stuck with me. It was vastly different from my style in middle school but saw some regularity on my list during my high school years. Now, I just love so many F names ([name_m]Finnian[/name_m], [name_u]Finley[/name_u], [name_u]Flynn[/name_u], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], [name_m]Fabian[/name_m], etc) that it seems repetitive for all of them to be in my top ten!
I also came to love the name because of soccer player [name_m]Fabian[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m]. My dad and I love watching soccer together so it will always be dear to my heart for that reason too
Yes, I love [name_m]Fabian[/name_m]. It’s on my list. I didn’t think much of it but now that you mention it I don’t see it on Nameberry much. I think it’s a great name.
[name_m]Fabian[/name_m] is gorgeous!
For some reason I find [name_m]Fabian[/name_m] a bit…wishy-washy, even though I usually like softer boy names. It’s very usable, but I prefer [name_u]Florian[/name_u].
I agree with jonquils and moonstone, while it’s an alright name it just doesn’t really have any ‘oomph’ for me. I definitely prefer [name_u]Florian[/name_u].
I like [name_m]Fabian[/name_m]! I’ve met two, one who pronounced it Fahbian with a short a sound, and another who pronounced it [name_f]Fay[/name_f]-bian. I prefer the latter, although I instinctively read it as the former. I think it’s a very underused classic and you’re right, it seems like it would be more popular on this site!
[name_m]Fabian[/name_m] always makes me think of [name_m]Fabio[/name_m]. Not a fan.
[name_m]Ah[/name_m], see, I knew a great [name_m]Fabio[/name_m], so that’s all positive for me
I too prefer [name_u]Florian[/name_u] but I know it’s not a favourite of my husband’s, and [name_m]Fabian[/name_m] seems like a fitting alternative with a lot of the same appeal.
We pronounce it [name_f]FAY[/name_f]-bee-un, by the way. I think [name_f]Fay[/name_f] as a nickname for a boy would be pretty great!
I like it! It’s bold yet soft, romantic but studious yet fun. I’ve met a [name_m]Fabian[/name_m] and it suited him well
