I’ve noticed that there a lot of fake spam-bot accounts posting about free streaming of wrestling matches and stuff in the forums. Could anything be done about this?.. It’s kind of annoying.

It’s really annoying. I don’t know if we can stop all this spam, but [name]Pam[/name], can you lock those threads?
It started yesterday, the threads were deleted and I think the person (or whatever it is ;)) is just making new accounts as the previous ones have been deleted.
The spam is getting really annoying! Is there some way to block the IP address?
The ones I saw were both under an account called ghhgf or something… Weird. I hope it stops.

I think its more likely to be a spam bot than a faker, I doubt that an actual person is making the accounts/threads. Looks like something a spam robot/computer would do to me.

I agree - “fakers” generally at least stick to the subject of names (albeit often with unrealistic stories). With so many of the posts being off-topic it’s most likely a spammer.

P&L once said there was a problem with baby name gamers putting lots of pictures in the game threads and linking from multiple other sites (they had problems from an IP perspective and had to take a lot of them down). I wonder if that compromised the security of the site and attracted a lot more spambot attention.
No, it’s not the pictures, [name]Blade[/name], and we don’t get a lot of spambots but hackers create false accounts and post spam. It’s most annoying for us since we have to stop working on the site and deal with these pests. The most effective way to notify us of spam is to press that little triangle button with the exclamation point in the lower left of each post and then we can ban the spammer and blast all its spam at one time…
