T-minus two weeks until we leave for Taiwan! We are reconsidering our four/five letter name rule… There are so many longer names I love and I don’t want to pick a name just to fit into a “rule.” Vote below to help us decide in the next few days since we have to fill out birth certificates! We want something easy to spell/pronounce, known but not overly common, and matches with Eliza, Lowen, and Ruby!

@snowmaiden @lemon_swirlxx @cali09 Thank you all so much for your kind replies!! I talked to SO about it and we decided to try with a homeschool teacher starting on [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f]! She will be coming 2-3 days out of the week and taking [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Edith[/name_f] outside or into our little “school room” to do school with them which will allow me to spend time with the boys and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]! We’re planning on also starting the boys in school 1 day a week in the [name_f]Spring[/name_f], so she will being doing that come late [name_u]January[/name_u]!
We decided this was best for all of us so I can get a break, but still have the opportunity to keep the kids homeschooled. If any of them talk about desires to go to the Waldorf school and/or public school than we will make that change, but they love being at home when learning, and I think they’ve really benefited from it!
This teacher will allow the kids to learn with no distractions from their siblings, as well as give me time to have a break and work on writing!

spend one-on-one days with the kids.

My husband and I have been thinking about doing this with our kids! It’s been a little hard to start with Luka and Naomi being so little and them needing extra attention.

i think the idea of spending one on one time with your kids are genius! personally, i have nobody to take care of the other if i were to spend one on one time with on of my kiddos, but my children are often stuck as a duo and they both have 50 percent of my attention. but thinking about it, honestly they are probably wondering what it would be like to spend a day without another sibling and get my fullest attention.

My husband and I have been thinking about doing this with our kids!

It’s been one of the most wonderful things we’ve chosen to do with our kids and they all love it so much! Obviously being a sister/brother is a big part of their identity at this age, but it’s nowhere near as large as their own interests and likes and dislikes! We find it very helpful in getting to know how our kids view the world, and learning how to be better parents!
I totally get how hard it is! Having twins is incredibly difficult, but especially so when you have others! We had our twin boys when our eldest daughter was 2 years and 5 months, and our other daughter was 10 months so we definitely had a handful! We ended up not being able to have days like this for the first 7 months of the twins lives, but implemented it in again then. When we had our youngest, we had another period where it was too hard to do it! When she turned 5 months we had solo days with all of the kids, and decided to start them again now! Normally we choose to spread them out and do one a week (we have five kids), and then spend the next couple weeks doing all family weekends before starting the cycle again!
I should mention that both DH and I’s parents live nearby, my mom, dad, and mother-in-law all being retired! So, we are very lucky to have people to take care of our other children when we do things like this.

We are extremely happy with how our family looks at the moment, but we will probably starting trying for another little one in March. We’ve talked several times about what our top names would be for another child, and I want to know what you all think. Realistically we may not have another child, however, I’m very curious…

@ivorydiaries It was so much fun to have your girls over today! [name_f]My[/name_f] kids took them out to the backyard, and [name_f]Eva[/name_f] started playing baseball with [name_u]Leo[/name_u] and [name_u]Jem[/name_u] right away! They were playing for hours before stopping to get lemonade. And then they started playing again right after! It was the sweetest thing.
[name_f]Della[/name_f] took a couple minutes to get comfortable, but after she did, she and [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] got along like peanut butter and jelly! They spent a lot of the time playing with our animals, and then they had their tea party (with the chickens!) and then played dress up and princesses.
The kids had so much fun, we’d love to have your girls over again sometime!

[name_u]Carlin[/name_u] [name_u]Shea[/name_u] is my eldest. At thirteen years old, he is the sweetest thing! He’s pretty good in school, but he gets so anxious about everything! I recently started taking him to a therapist, and it’s going very well. He’s learning how to handle his fears and it’s making him so much braver! Car’s always doing something- he can’t seem to sit still! He wants his fourth sibling to be a girl, because he thinks [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is the absolute cutest.

[name_f]My[/name_f] second is [name_m]Emeril[/name_m] [name_u]Jay[/name_u]. Only nine years old and already getting into all sorts of mischief. He’s delighted with Carlin’s progress in his anxiety, because it means that Car will join in with more of his scheming. When we meet up with my sister, [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], and her kids, [name_f]Em[/name_f] will enlist his younger siblings and younger cousins in his trouble-making. It’s very funny, but he doesn’t quite understand what’s dangerous and what isn’t, so we have to keep a close eye on him! [name_m]Emeril[/name_m] doesn’t care what gender my next baby is. He’s just excited.

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Mahogany[/name_f] is my six-year-old. She’s up for anything with her brothers, and she’s very strong for her age. However, strong does not equal mature. When she’s upset, her tantrums are something to behold. She’s super smart though. She’s been looking at Emeril’s homework recently and has no problems with any of it! Like [name_u]Carlin[/name_u], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] also wants a sister for her next sibling. I’ve got to say, I’m with her!

[name_f]My[/name_f] fourth is two-year-old [name_u]Quest[/name_u] [name_u]Maverick[/name_u]. [name_u]Quest[/name_u] is just a bundle of joy, always babbling away. His sentences aren’t always comprehensible, but I love the sound of his voice! He has a knack for getting places he shouldn’t be. He can be in his cot with his bedroom door shut, and two minutes later he’s somehow stuck in a wardrobe. You can’t turn your back on him for a second! Fortunately, he’s beginning to understand that whilst he most definitely can, he shouldn’t always roam around.

This afternoon was the younger two’s taekwondo lessons, and they’re going so well! [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is on her white purple 3, and [name_u]Quest[/name_u] is only just starting. The problem with sending our fiery little [name_f]Alice[/name_f] to taekwondo is that she’s starting to use it against her brothers when they annoy her. In the past three days, I’ve had [name_m]Emeril[/name_m] come to me four times, in tears because [name_f]Alice[/name_f] kicked him. [name_u]Carlin[/name_u] thinks it’s the funniest thing, even though he doesn’t like to see anyone upset.

today, the girls woke up really early before school (even before me!) so they awoke me, and i took them out to the garden
as soon as the girls got out of the garden, they fell right back asleep.
