Falling for Elliott... Maybe?

Lately I really like the name [name]Elliott[/name] (this spelling). The problem - or hopefully non problem - is that [name]El[/name] names seem to be becoming a major trend for girls names. [name]Elowen[/name], [name]Eloise[/name], [name]Elisabeth[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Elise[/name], [name]Elodie[/name], [name]Ellie[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name], etc. Also, I have seen quite a few girls named [name]Eliot[/name]/[name]Elliot[/name]/[name]Elliott[/name]/[name]Eliott[/name] recently. So… Should this be a problem? Should [name]Elliott[/name] be of the list? Another consideration is that [name]Elisabeth[/name] is a family name and I will almost definitely use it at some point as either a first or middle name. Does this rule out [name]Elliott[/name]?

[name]Elliott[/name] isn’t a bad name. I haven’t personally seen it on a girl but I could see it being used :/. I would say you could use [name]Elisabeth[/name] as a middle name in the future but not as a first, if you do use [name]Elliott[/name]. Good luck!!

I actually think a sibset of [name]Elliott[/name] and [name]Elisabeth[/name] would be cute, as long as you weren’t afraid of being boxed into [name]El[/name]/E names.

And who cares if people have been using it on girls? I’ve always seen [name]Elliott[/name] as a softer boy’s name, and am one of the unfortunate number who likes the name on a girl (spelled [name]Eliette[/name]; I’m a Nameberry sinner  ). Anyway, don’t be afraid of a boy’s name because you think it might be becoming a girl’s name. If everyone did that, we’d have no more boy’s names left.

[name]Elliot[/name] is a great name! Super handsome. I think it is a mistake on a girl unless spelled [name]Eliette[/name]. [name]Elliot[/name] & [name]Elisabeth[/name] sound fine together.

I think [name]Elliott[/name] is a great name for a boy, and I agree with celianne - there are some girls with the name, but you shouldn’t let that deter you from using it for a boy! I also agree that [name]Elliott[/name] and [name]Elisabeth[/name] are fine together.

[name]Elliot/name is used on girls but it’s far more common on boys.

[name]Elisabeth[/name] and [name]Elliott[/name] make a nice set.

[name]Elliot[/name] is a nice name for a boy. It doesn’t suit girls and I “blame” TV series “Scrubs” for this bad idea.
[name]Elisabeth[/name] and [name]Elliot[/name] go great together and the “E” theme is cool.

If I used [name]Elisabeth[/name] and [name]Elliott[/name], would I be stuck with the E- or [name]El[/name]- names after that? Would it be weird to have a third child with a non- E name?

I love [name]Elliott[/name] (for boys). The fact that it is being used for girls concerns me also, but I think I would still use it. [name]Elliot[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] are nice together. I don’t think you are stuck with an [name]El[/name] name for a third child, but if you had [name]Elliott[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Elijah[/name], then I think you would be stuck continuing the trend for a fourth.

I have recently been smitten by [name]Elliot[/name]/[name]Elliott[/name]. I think it is absolutely wonderful. I think that [name]Elliot[/name] and [name]Elisabeth[/name] would be a darling sibset, but if you used [name]Elisabeth[/name] as a middle name there really is no need to worry.

[name]Elliott[/name] is strong, literary, and timeless. Keep it! The similarity to [name]Elisabeth[/name] is deemphasized by the pronunciation–e-LIS-a-beth as opposed to [name]ELL[/name]-i-ott. Probably too similar for siblings’ first names, but either would make a respectable middle.
