Family members and naming

Hello all!

I’m not expecting or anything, but I was having a think about some names I like, and [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] (nickname [name_u]June[/name_u], and would probably go by [name_u]June[/name_u] most of the time) is definitely in my top names. The only problem is that a close family member has a child called [name_f]April[/name_f]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think having the two kids [name_f]April[/name_f] and [name_u]June[/name_u] would be ridiculous, or sound too “copycat-ish” ? I really do love the name [name_u]June[/name_u], and it has significance for my partner and me.

Another quick, family related issue is middle names…Would you give your child the same middle name as another child in the family if you really loved it? Or is that a no-go?

Would love to hear your thoughts!

I think juniper nn june is perfectly fine as for the same middle.name is it a family name?

No, it is something like “[name_f]Grace[/name_f]” or “[name_f]Rose[/name_f]” quite a generic, but pretty, middle name.

[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] nn [name_u]June[/name_u] is fine as is having the same middle as someone else in the family.

I think its fine. If they don’t like it they can refer to her as [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] - or perhaps [name_f]Juno[/name_f] or Juney or Junebug or some other cute nickname.

I think both are fine

[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] nn june and same middle name? No, that kind of combo would be just too similar. If you must, pick one, [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] is better option. I’m sure there are lots of other pretty middle names.

[name_f]My[/name_f] comment above could be nothing but my personal opinion, just to make that clear.

I think both are totally fine. The kids are cousins, not siblings.

I think both are absolutely fine! Is the child called [name_f]April[/name_f] the one with the middle name you like or is that someone else? In the first case I think using the same middle name may be a bit much - but still not terrible.

I agree completely with @chellemma1.

[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] with family member [name_f]April[/name_f] is fine. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if she does go by [name_u]June[/name_u] most of the time. You could always spell the nn Joon a la [name_m]Benny[/name_m] and Joon (who’s name was [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]).

Middles names are no big deal. Unless you’re using a super uncommon one like [name_f]Vashti[/name_f] or something then I can’t see it being a problem.

Though if you’re thinking about using family member [name_f]April[/name_f]'s middle name, then that might be another issue.

No, the middle name is of someone else (not [name_f]April[/name_f]'s), but I’m not as bothered about using that name as I am with [name_u]June[/name_u]. I really have my heart set on [name_u]June[/name_u]!

I think both are fine. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if you were using [name_u]June[/name_u] with [name_f]April[/name_f]'s common middle name. [name_f]My[/name_f] cousins are [name_f]Colleen[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Christine[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and a [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] isn’t a family name. [name_f]My[/name_f] grandmother called them [name_f]Colly[/name_f] [name_f]Beth[/name_f] and [name_f]Chrissy[/name_f] [name_f]Beth[/name_f] for a while, too.
