[name]Fara[/name] rhymes with [name]Sarah[/name], and is a family name.
[name]Luisa[/name] is derived from [name]Lou[/name], also a family name. I’m also not opposed to spelling it [name]Louisa[/name], I just find the Italian spelling cuter.
[name]Fara[/name] [name]Luisa[/name] is very cute. I particularly like that it sparkles to it’s own tune and fells like a breath of fresh air, and is still spelled correctly and is easy to read and pronounce. I also love the family ties to both names. I feel like this is a HUGE WINNER!!!
Depending, on where you live I think Lousia might be a easier option. Living in the US I would think that [name]Louisa[/name] would be less frequently misspelled than [name]Luisa[/name]. Another thing to consider is, that since [name]Luisa[/name] comes from [name]Lou[/name] the [name]Louisa[/name] spelling is more closely related to the family name it’s derived from.
Thanks so much for the feedback! I tend to agree about the spelling, even though I am drawn to [name]Luisa[/name]. It does make more sense to go with [name]Louisa[/name] for both of the reasons you mentioned.
I like [name]Fara[/name] but I feel like the [name]Farah[/name] spelling would be easier to pronounce at first sight. I’d worry that without the ‘h’ people would either pronounce it ‘far-a’ (rhyme with [name]Cara[/name] and [name]Zara[/name] etc) or ‘farra’. With the ‘h’ it looks more like [name]Sarah[/name] and would encourage the right pronunciation.
Either way, [name]Fara[/name]/h [name]Luisa[/name] is really pretty
Thanks, renrose. It is my grandma’s name, though, so I don’t want to change the spelling. Also, [name]Fara[/name] is an English origin name meaning traveler versus the Arabic [name]Farah[/name] meaning happiness. I prefer the traveler meaning and sticking to my Grandma’s name even if it means dealing with a few people who think it is Far-ah. I’ve always preferred the look of [name]Sara[/name] to [name]Sarah[/name] as well.
Thanks for the feedback and glad you like the sound of it!
I wouldn’t worry about the spelling of the middle name [name]Luisa[/name]–how often are people going to be asked to spell her middle name? Go with what you love. [name]Fara[/name] [name]Luisa[/name] is very pretty.
I would pronounce [name]Fara[/name]/[name]Farah[/name] as ‘[name]Fa[/name]-ruh’ with two short sounds, and nothing like [name]Sarah[/name] so that might be an issue if other people think the same.
I also don’t like the names together, [name]Fara[/name] [name]Lou[/name] or [name]Fara[/name] [name]Louise[/name] sounds better because I personally dislike the ‘a’ ending in both names.
I like both names and agree that spelling either way shouldn’t be an issue. I did want to point out that [name]Fara[/name] [name]Louisa[/name] sounds an awful lot like “Fur [name]Elise[/name].” Its pretty popular with beginning piano players so if your child plays piano, or any of her friends do they will make this connection. Not saying this is bad, but I’d not be surprised if a lot of people made this connection (I don’t know, maybe its far-fetched).
I also typically don’t like both the first and middle names to end in the A sound, but in this case I think it works. Especially, since you have a good reason for using both of those names. I do prefer the [name]Louisa[/name] spelling, but that’s just a personal preference seeing as my daughter’s middle name is going to be [name]Louisa[/name]. Also, I heard Fur [name]Elise[/name] I don’t know how many times as a child because my sister took piano lessons and I didn’t make that association. [name]Even[/name] if a few people do, it’s not a bad one. It’s a pretty song.
I would pronounce [name]Fara[/name] to rhyme with [name]Sarah[/name]. Far-a would make sense too and I’m sure you’ll get it sometimes, but I think it’s all bearable. I think people will mishear it as [name]Vera[/name] occasionally, as more people are pronouncing [name]Vera[/name] to rhyme with [name]Sarah[/name] and less like [name]Veera[/name].
I think [name]Fara[/name] [name]Luisa[/name]/[name]Louisa[/name] / [name]Fara[/name] [name]Lu[/name]/[name]Lou[/name] is super cute! But will also grow fine.
I mildly prefer [name]Fara[/name] [name]Louisa[/name]. Making [name]Louisa[/name] a little longer with an extra letter makes the name look more balanced. I agree [name]Luisa[/name] looks cute : D. I think in the US whenever people see it they’ll assume or wonder about Spanish/Latina heritage. Nothing wrong with that, whether that is or isn’t true for you, it’s just something that wouldn’t happen with [name]Louisa[/name], so I wanted to be sure to point out the difference. You mentioned besides the family connection not wanting people to assume the wrong origins for [name]Fara[/name] vs [name]Farah[/name], so that might be something to think of here.
Finally, while I like the name [name]Louisa[/name] a little better than [name]Louise[/name], I think the flow of [name]Fara[/name] [name]Louise[/name] is maybe mildly better?
All in all though, [name]Fara[/name] [name]Luisa[/name] just how you’re thinking is pretty great!
