I’m not sure if any of you watch SJ Strum’s videos on YouTube, but she just did a list of names that are rising and dropping very quickly.
What names do you think are “fast fashion” or will strongly date? What do you think will be the next one to go through this name lifecycle?
I’ll add that she is in the UK so that is a big influence in what she considers to be popular. There are some names that she says she’s heard so often but are decently rare in the US.

I watched that video yesterday and immediately thought it would make a good forum discussion!
I am in the US, so the list here might look a little different. But I definitely think [name_u]Harper[/name_u] and [name_u]Everly[/name_u] are going to feel dated pretty quickly. Maybe [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Luna[/name_f], and [name_u]Nova[/name_u], too. Boys are tough because the list tends to lean more traditional or “safe”… But I might say [name_u]Logan[/name_u] for sure!
Everly 100% will date, as will things like [name_u]Blakely[/name_u] and Brynnleigh. I disagree about the likes of [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]/Aurora/ [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] as they are all classic names that may not have been as popular as they are now, but have been in use for a long time in various countries.
For boys definitely [name_m]Archie[/name_m] and the -den names [name_u]Kayden[/name_u]/Jayden/Aiden/Brayden.
I feel like certain names on that list can’t really go out of style since they’re somewhat granny chic to begin with. I do think [name_f]Mila[/name_f] could be the next [name_u]Lisa[/name_u].
If I look at [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] statistics, for boys I sincerely hope that [name_u]Jaxx[/name_u] & [name_m]Jax[/name_m] are fads. It’s basically a top 20 name now if you combine the stats for both spellings. I suspect for girls that [name_f]Evi[/name_f] and her sister [name_f]Evy[/name_f] might also be a fad, as well as [name_u]Nova[/name_u] and [name_f]Novi[/name_f].
According to the SSA lists, [name_m]Mathew[/name_m], [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] and [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] were in top-200 for years. Why can they ever be considered quick fashion?..
As a [name_u]Brit[/name_u], I agree with many of the names on her list. For me the names that seem “fast fashion” are those that come out of (basically) nowhere and became very popular, very quickly. I can definitely see Archie, Reggie, Alfie and other names of that style becoming dated.
I don’t agree about [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]. Those two names seem very classic to me. And I associate [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] more with 1990s babies than the current generation of babies.
