I haven’t narrowed down my name list at all yet and I need some help! Me and my husband agree on all the names and we can’t decide which one to choose!
Pick your favorite and least favorite from each list, or just tell me what you think!
Girls
[name]Ruby[/name] - Cute. My Great-Grandmother’s name. Prefer in middle.
[name]Isla[/name] - [name]Love[/name]! Fresh, feminine, and funky.
[name]Sullivan[/name] - Um, for a girl? No, thank you. No, no, no.
[name]Elodie[/name] - I don’t love this. I prefer [name]Eloise[/name], to be honest.
[name]Arielle[/name] - I don’t know if I love this, but it isn’t bad. [name]Ariella[/name]?
[name]FAVORITE[/name] - [name]Isla[/name], [name]Ruby[/name]
LEAST [name]FAVORITE[/name] - [name]Sullivan[/name] (on a girl), [name]Elodie[/name]
Boys
[name]Graham[/name] - Handsome, sturdy, vintage, and quirky! Cute!
[name]Elijah[/name] - [name]Elias[/name] is more my think. Maybe the J throws me off…
[name]Patrick[/name] - I love [name]Patrick[/name]! Handsome and classic, not too common.
[name]Fynn[/name] - Either use [name]Finn[/name] or [name]Flynn[/name], not a combo spelling of each.
[name]Kale[/name] - Reminds me of the food, kale, which I don’t care for…
[name]Jonah[/name] - Reminds me of [name]Jonah[/name] and the whale. [name]Jonas[/name]?
[name]FAVORITE[/name] - [name]Patrick[/name], [name]Graham[/name]
LEAST [name]FAVORITE[/name] - [name]Kale[/name], [name]Fynn[/name]
Okay, my least favorite from your girls list is easy: [name]Sullivan[/name] (love it as a boy’s name, though). I think that especially in light of the fact that none of the other girls’ names you like are even unisex let alone masculine, you should definitely eliminate this one. It seems that if you ended up with two girls, you would not want to follow this trend. My favorite of the remaining is [name]Ruby[/name]; it’s fun to say and it’s whimsical while still being a substantial name with a full depth to it.
My least favorite of your boy’s names is [name]Kale[/name], mostly because all I can think of is the vegetable (if you like the sound, perhaps you would like [name]Caleb[/name]?). [name]Kale[/name] is closely followed by [name]Fynn[/name], though, for least favorite; it just sounds a little too insubstantial as a full name and I really dislike the y. My favorite is [name]Graham[/name]; I absolutely adore this name! [name]Elijah[/name] and [name]Jonah[/name] tie as close seconds, [name]Elijah[/name] is a bit on the popular side.
I have no idea why, but I like [name]Sullivan[/name] for a girl so much! Maybe it does need to go. [name]Elodie[/name] and [name]Arielle[/name] I’m not absolutely crazy about, but my husband likes them.
My favorite for the boys are [name]Kale[/name] and [name]Fynn[/name] But I’m warming up to Finneus/Finneas. I know many Calebs, so I don’t want to use that. But I’m also loving [name]Patrick[/name] and [name]Graham[/name] lately, I just don’t want [name]Patrick[/name] to be called [name]Pat[/name]. I don’t know, I’m still so undecided!
You’re so right – [name]Sullivan[/name] is a bit masculine next to the other names, which I will more than likely use for a sibling. I didn’t even think of that!

I really only like the [name]Phineas[/name] ([name]Phinnaeus[/name]) spelling of the name, so you might like [name]Finian[/name] or [name]Fintan[/name] as an alternative, which could give you the [name]Finn[/name] nickname, right?
And, if I had a [name]Patrick[/name], I’d call him only [name]Patrick[/name]. Others would catch on!
[name]Ruby[/name]: I love [name]Ruby[/name]! I think of it as a very warm, loving name.
[name]Isla[/name]: I love [name]Isla[/name], too! It’s apparently supposed to explode in popularity, so if this is an issue for you, some of the other names may be a better bet.
[name]Sullivan[/name]: I think it’s a handsome name, so I can personally only see it on a boy.
[name]Elodie[/name]: I think it’s beautiful!
[name]Arielle[/name]: I think it’s pretty, but I love some of the others more. ([name]How[/name] are you pronouncing it? I’ve heard [name]AIR[/name]-ee-elle and AHR-ee-elle.)
Boys
[name]Graham[/name]: I like it a lot…
[name]Elijah[/name]: I think it’s a handsome name…
[name]Patrick[/name]: I think it’s very handsome…
[name]Fynn[/name]: I’m used to the [name]Finn[/name] spelling, so I like some of your other names more.
[name]Kale[/name]: Because I think of the vegetable, I like some of the others more.
[name]Jonah[/name]: I think it’s a handsome name…
My favorite girls’ name is probably [name]Ruby[/name] (but I also love [name]Isla[/name] and [name]Elodie[/name]), and my favorite boys’ names are [name]Jonah[/name], [name]Elijah[/name], and [name]Patrick[/name].
[name]Ruby[/name]- definately older, but I could see it getting popular, however i like it. It makes me think of [name]Max[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name] though or a gem. I still like it.
[name]Isla[/name]- Not sure if I like it or not. It looks like Island almost but if you don’t mind thats fine, however it would not be my choice.
[name]Sullivan[/name]- It sounds like a last name. Reasons not to use [name]Sullivan[/name] A) it’s a last name of a child that I know B) It sounds like if it would be a name, than it would be a boys name.
[name]Elodie[/name]- I like it but it may be made fun of by saying [name]Melody[/name] [name]Elodie[/name], i like it though. NN may be [name]Lotty[/name]?
[name]Arielle[/name]- I went to school with a girl named [name]Arielle[/name] and she was always made fun of for being a Mermaid. I think [name]Arielle[/name] is a nice name but can be easily made fun of. I’d clearly stay awayfrom [name]Arielle[/name]. If you do choose [name]Arielle[/name], I’d prefer the spelling [name]Ariel[/name].
Boys
[name]Graham[/name]: makes me think of [name]Graham[/name] Crackers. I’d say stay away as this is a food name…
[name]Elijah[/name]- I’m assuming that you would use [name]Eli[/name] as a nn, I really love [name]Elijah[/name]!!
[name]Patrick[/name]- Would you use full name, or maybe [name]Rick[/name], or [name]Pat[/name] for a nickname?? I like patrick alone but as a nn???
[name]Fynn[/name]- I prefer the spelling [name]Finn[/name], its a variation of [name]Finley[/name] or [name]Finlay[/name]… I think you should use finley and use finn as a nn.
[name]Kale[/name]- [name]Kale[/name] is different. I dont know many kales but i like the name a little . I’m not sure whether [name]Kale[/name] might be confused with something like kyle, [name]Kole[/name]??
[name]Jonah[/name]- [name]LOVE[/name] IT!! [name]Jonah[/name] is a biblic name though and I don’t like that. It’s up to you but [name]Jonah[/name] is a biblic name and people might not like that. I like the name other than that though!!
Girls
[name]Ruby[/name]- cute and spunky
[name]Isla[/name]- [name]LOVE[/name] this name
[name]Sullivan[/name]- agree w/ pp
[name]Elodie[/name]- Pretty
[name]Arielle[/name]- [name]How[/name] is this pronounced? Like [name]Ariel[/name]?
Boys
[name]Graham[/name]- [name]LOVE[/name]!
[name]Elijah[/name]- okay, not fond of ‘[name]Eli[/name]’ though
[name]Patrick[/name]- Not really a fan of [name]Patrick[/name] but I love the nn ‘Patch’
[name]Fynn[/name]- cute, would pair well with [name]Isla[/name]
[name]Kale[/name]- I almost like this name
[name]Jonah[/name]- for some reason I just don’t like this name
Favorites: [name]Graham[/name] & [name]Isla[/name]
Least Faves: [name]Jonah[/name] & [name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Favorite[/name]: [name]Isla[/name]
Runner Up: [name]Ruby[/name]
Least [name]Favorite[/name]: [name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Sullivan[/name] is just too masculine for a little girl. [name]Isla[/name] is gorgeous. [name]Ruby[/name] is also a nice choice, but it is becoming popular. I like [name]Arielle[/name] too, but not as much.
[name]Favorite[/name]: [name]Graham[/name]
Runner up: [name]Fynn[/name], and [name]Jonah[/name]
Least [name]Favorite[/name]: [name]Kale[/name]
[name]Graham[/name] is a lovely handsome choice. It is not too common but not unheard of either. [name]Fynn[/name] would have been my first choice had it been spelt [name]Finn[/name]. [name]Fynn[/name] looks like someone tried to make it a girls name by adding a trendy y. [name]Jonah[/name] is a nice name as well. [name]Kale[/name] is the only one on the list I dont like. It lacks substance and sounds kinda week in my opinion.
Girls
[name]Ruby[/name] - Pretty, but popularity is on the rise.
[name]Isla[/name] - Ditto [name]Ruby[/name], although I personally prefer [name]Isla[/name] to [name]Ruby[/name]. A caveat: There is a girl named [name]Isla[/name] who is in a lot of my classes, and every single substitute ALWAYS mispronounces her name (they say the “s”). I suppose this issue will diminish as [name]Isla[/name] gets more popular, though.
[name]Sullivan[/name] - Not my favorite on a girl.
[name]Elodie[/name] - Cute, but also a little wierd/awkward both written and aloud.
[name]Arielle[/name] - A little frilly, but I think it works. I love the possible nickname of [name]Ari[/name] if she turns out to be less of a girly-girl.
[name]Favorite[/name]: [name]Arielle[/name]
Least favorite: [name]Sullivan[/name]
Boys
[name]Graham[/name] - [name]Graham[/name] crackers? Still a handsome name though.
[name]Elijah[/name] - I like it, but it’s very trendy right now.
[name]Patrick[/name] - Nice but tame.
[name]Fynn[/name] - Not a fan of this spelling.
[name]Kale[/name] - A vegetable, not a name.
[name]Jonah[/name] - I usually don’t like Biblical names, but I think this one has a lot of character and spunk.
[name]Favorite[/name]: [name]Jonah[/name]
Least favorite: [name]Kale[/name]
Fav Girl Names: [name]Ruby[/name] and [name]Isla[/name]
Least Fav Girl Name: [name]Sullivan[/name]
Fav Boy Names: [name]Graham[/name], [name]Patrick[/name] (though I agree with you about the yuckiness of ‘[name]Pat[/name]’), and [name]Jonah[/name]
Least Fav Boy Name: [name]Kale[/name]. I can only think of the vegetable, and that is not a good association for me. : P If you really love it, I would recommend using a ‘C’ instead of a K.
Girls
[name]Ruby[/name] - [name]Love[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]. (I have a doggie named [name]Ruby[/name])
[name]Isla[/name] - Kind of getting tired of [name]Isla[/name]. To me its like [name]Ava[/name]. It is a very pretty name, but came out of nowhere in popularity.
[name]Sullivan[/name] - Definitely a boy. [name]LOVE[/name] it on a boy. Not so much for a girl
[name]Elodie[/name] - Not my favorite. I prefer [name]Eloise[/name] or [name]Melody[/name] to it.
[name]Arielle[/name] - I like. I like this spelling of it too.
Boys
[name]Graham[/name] - not my style
[name]Elijah[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name]
[name]Patrick[/name] - Like a lot. Classic. The only negative is [name]Pat[/name], which SNL has completely ruined.
[name]Fynn[/name] - [name]FINN[/name] - [name]Love[/name] [name]Finn[/name] or [name]Finnegan[/name] (another doggie named [name]Finn[/name]) But again, its pretty trendy.
[name]Kale[/name] - Not a fan
[name]Jonah[/name] - Like a lot.
Girls:
[name]Favorite[/name]: [name]Arielle[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name]
Least [name]Favorite[/name]: [name]Isla[/name], [name]Elodie[/name] and [name]Sullivan[/name]
Boys:
[name]Favorite[/name]: [name]Patrick[/name], [name]Jonah[/name] and [name]Elijah[/name]
Least [name]Favorite[/name]: [name]Kale[/name], [name]Graham[/name] and [name]Fynn[/name]
Girls
[name]Ruby[/name]- an adorable name. trendy at the moment and rising in popularity but still a beautiful name.
[name]Isla[/name]- [name]LOVE[/name] this name. not too common, very pretty and exotic sounding.
[name]Sullivan[/name]- not a huge fan on this on a girl. seems very masculine to me and [name]Sully[/name] reminds me of Monsters Inc.
[name]Elodie[/name]- I prefer [name]Eloise[/name], but [name]Elodie[/name] is nice as well. Pro: it has the nickname [name]Ellie[/name], [name]Con[/name]: [name]Ellie[/name] names are very popular.
[name]Arielle[/name]- simple but classic. I prefer [name]Ariella[/name], nickname [name]Ari[/name] is cute.
[name]Favorite[/name]: [name]Isla[/name]
Least [name]Favorite[/name]: [name]Sullivan[/name]
Boys
[name]Graham[/name]- I’ve gone between loving this name and not loving it. It’s definitely cute but I have trouble visualizing it on an adult.
[name]Elijah[/name]- a less common but classic name. I really like [name]Elijah[/name] though some see it as a “soft” name for a boy. I think [name]Eli[/name] is a great nickname.
[name]Patrick[/name]- nice, classic, doesn’t really do anything for me but is a perfectly fine name for a boy. Not a big fan of [name]Pat[/name] though.
[name]Fynn[/name]- even though this name is not totally my style I like it a lot.
[name]Kale[/name]- reminds me of the vegetable unfortunately. Maybe [name]Caleb[/name] instead?
[name]Jonah[/name]- love this name. Classic, biblical, great meaning.
[name]Favorite[/name]: [name]Flynn[/name] or [name]Jonah[/name].
Least [name]Favorite[/name]: [name]Kale[/name].
I think we’ve definitely ruled out [name]Sullivan[/name], [name]Elodie[/name], and [name]Arielle[/name] (prn like the mermaid ). We still really love [name]Ruby[/name] and [name]Isla[/name], so I guess it’s down to those two!
I still love all of the boy names, but I can say we’ve let go of [name]Fynn[/name] and [name]Kale[/name] (unwillingly on my part). [name]Elijah[/name] would inevitably be nn [name]Eli[/name]; [name]Graham[/name] and [name]Patrick[/name] would stay whole names.
Good news, though, we find out the sex of the baby next week so the list can only get smaller!
