Was wondering what people’s favorite boy names converted to girl names were (vs. just using a tradtional boys name like [name]Jordan[/name] and giving it to a girl).
Some work out really well, like [name]Phillipa[/name] (with awesome nn [name]Pippa[/name]) and feels like its own name, and not a “girl version” of [name]Phillip[/name].
Others are a little less…appealing…like Autherine!
[name]One[/name] of the best, imo, is [name]Antonia[/name]. It’s beautiful, strong, and as you mentioned with [name]Philippa[/name], it sounds like its own name and not just the “girl version.”
I’m partial to [name]Benedikte[/name] because it’s my daughter’s name. I have a weakness for these types of names. If she ever has a sister she will be [name]Augusta[/name] and possible contenders for a third girl for us are [name]Phillipa[/name] and [name]Theodosia[/name]. Our criteria are that they have to be family names, have a formal component, good nickname potential, and accessible in English and [name]German[/name]. Other ones I love but have weaker family ties for us include:
Some great ones listed already. [name]May[/name] I humbly add my own name, [name]Stephanie[/name], to the list? Also comes in other such exotic forms as [name]Stephana[/name] / [name]Stephania[/name] / Stefana / [name]Stefania[/name]. Not sure if I’d rather be [name]Stephanie[/name] or one of the more elaborate versions…
In addition to all the other great names listed, I’ll put in one of my faves at the moment: [name]Samantha[/name]! Feminization of [name]Samuel[/name], but such gorgeous classic name on its own. As for nicknames, I love a [name]Sam[/name] or [name]Sammy[/name] on either gender
My favorites were already mentioned but I’ll put them down anyway.
They are:
[name]Thomasina[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Michaela[/name]
[name]Philippa[/name]
And [name]Jane[/name] I guess, I didn’t realize it was a feminization before.
