[name]Do[/name] you have any favorites “clunky” names? What are they? And what names would you consider to fall into this category?
They can be “so clunky that they’re cool” sorts of names or just plain clunky and unfashionable, but I’d like for them to be names that you actually like.
I like [name]Ottilie[/name] [name]Olivia[/name] but would never use it because the Double O is too clunky (or [name]James[/name] [name]Bond[/name]-sy lol)
[name]Wilhelmina[/name] is my favorite if that can be considered clunky. My husband loves [name]William[/name] but doesn’t like [name]Wilhelmina[/name]. He did say it could be a possible middle name for a daughter though so I am making progress.
I also like [name]Henrietta[/name] but with our surname starting with H and only being one syllable, it sounds very weird and clunky.
[name]Adlai[/name]
It’s a bit of a tongue twister. I love “[name]Ad[/name]-[name]Lay[/name]” and I’ve come to terms with “[name]Ad[/name]-uh-lay” because I know how hard it is to pronounce
[name]Wilhelmina[/name], [name]Thomasina[/name], [name]Agatha[/name], [name]Henrietta[/name], [name]Raphaela[/name], [name]Tabitha[/name] & [name]Theodora[/name] are the clunky names on my (long, long) list. I adore them all.
I know a 20 something [name]Adlai[/name] & I think it’s such a great name & he absolutely gets compliments wherever we go! [name]Ad[/name] uh lay does happen but doesn’t bother him much. I guess clunky really is in the eye of the beholder because to me this isn’t it at all. I group it with [name]Ezra[/name] & [name]Elijah[/name]…but undiscovered
I’m pretty sure most of my list would be considered clunky by some, but I do adore [name]Homer[/name], [name]Maud[/name], [name]Sophronia[/name], and [name]Jabez[/name].
My definition of clunky being solid, old-fashioned, and not too flirty or trendy. Ones people would go “you’d name a baby THAT?” but these are ones I really like.
