Favorite Family Middle?

[name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] are my husband and I’s favorite first names for a boy, and we want to use a family name in the middle spot but need help coming up with combos! Here is my list of family names:

[name_m]Alexander[/name_m]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_m]David[/name_m]
[name_u]Francis[/name_u]
[name_m]Frank[/name_m]
[name_m]George[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_m]Jacob[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]John[/name_m]
[name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_u]Lee[/name_u]
[name_m]Matthew[/name_m]
[name_m]Nelson[/name_m]
[name_m]Paul[/name_m]
[name_m]Richard[/name_m]
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m]
[name_m]Steven[/name_m]
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
[name_m]William[/name_m]

[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] obviously.

Joking aside, how do you feel about [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m]? Your list of middle names all work well with [name_m]Henry[/name_m], but not so much with [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. Out of the list, I like [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] the best.

Hm, I agree with the previous poster that your middle name options work better with [name_m]Henry[/name_m] than they do with [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] sounds alright. Some of the others might work, depending on the last name.

I have two ideas: use a traditional full name which can be nicknamed [name_m]Jack[/name_m], like [name_m]John[/name_m] (an honor name) or [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m]. The only [name_m]Jack[/name_m] I know in real life is [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m], always called [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. I like that option because if he wants to go by something more distinctive, in case he winds up with lots of classmates or coworkers also called [name_m]Jack[/name_m], then he could switch to [name_m]Jon[/name_m]/[name_m]Jonny[/name_m] or [name_u]Nat[/name_u]/[name_m]Nate[/name_m]/[name_m]Nathan[/name_m]. The other idea is to name him [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and give him whatever honor name you like best on its own merits (meaning, family significance) and disregard the flow of his full name, because we hear people’s full names so, so rarely in regular life.

With [name_m]Henry[/name_m], I like: [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_m]David[/name_m], [name_u]Francis[/name_u], [name_m]George[/name_m], [name_m]Jacob[/name_m], [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], [name_u]Lee[/name_u], [name_m]Paul[/name_m], and [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]. Some will sound better with a short name and some will sound better with a long surname, so I can’t narrow it down further. My favorites are [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]Francis[/name_u] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m].

[name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] and [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] are my favorite combos with [name_m]Jack[/name_m].
With [name_m]Henry[/name_m], I like [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m], [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Nelson[/name_m], and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m].

If you’re having trouble with [name_m]Jack[/name_m], have you considered using a family name as his first name and [name_m]Jack[/name_m] as his middle name and calling him [name_m]Jack[/name_m]? [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m], and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] could all work as well.

[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] is my favorite. Also I like [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m].

[name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m]
