I often default to [name_m]Blackwell[/name_m] when imagining surnames for myself. Not sure why!
[name_u]Ocean[/name_u] would be so incredibly cool, I had no idea it is a surname.
I also like [name_u]Frost[/name_u], I know someone with the last name.
I’d rather have a longer surname, because my future kid is most likely going to have a two-syllable name.
[name_u]Baker[/name_u]
[name_m]Fisher[/name_m]
Bearson
McPhee
[name_u]Campbell[/name_u]
[name_m]Gallagher[/name_m]
[name_u]Penrose[/name_u]
And I really like O’ surnames like O’[name_u]Connor[/name_u] and O’[name_m]Brien[/name_m]
I don’t think I’d ever choose to change my surname. Though when I was younger I was constantly writing stories where the main character always had the last name [name_m]Price[/name_m]. So if I were to change it, I’d probably use that one.
I also like:
[name_m]Faraday[/name_m]
[name_m]Salvatore[/name_m]
[name_f]Anniston[/name_f]
[name_m]Maxfield[/name_m]
[name_u]Valentine[/name_u]
[name_u]Calloway[/name_u]
[name_u]Sinclair[/name_u]
[name_m]Rhodes[/name_m]
Personally feel it depend on my husbands name, if it’s a nice name that goes well with mine and in general is nice than yeah, but if it’s ugly and I obviously prefer mine than it won’t be changed I guess I’m a bit too honest like that, from the list I like:
Balboa
Bloom
Capulet
Larusso
Van Helsing
A lot of these names are interesting so I’ll be bookmarking as I’m writing a story and need last name inspiration (hope you don’t mind!)
I’ve met some folks with the last name Salazar (Hispanic) and I love that one!
Honestly, no other last names come to mind atm!! I may come back to this thread with a list in a few days
If you’d asked me as a teenager and early- to mid-20s, I would have said that I would change my last name when I get married.
But now my answer is a hard no. I have 2 degrees and maybe one day I’ll have a PhD. No way am I letting those degrees have different names. I’ve worked too hard
However, I have thought about changing my last name to my mom’s maiden name. I don’t think I ever will, but it’s been on my mind before.
I never changed my maiden name when I got married. Our kids have my husband’s name but I wanted to keep mine. Partly because my dad only had daughters and my sister already took her husband’s name.
I really like my family name and I will carry it for the rest of my life.
Some other last names I’ve liked:
Knight
[name_u]Griffin[/name_u]
[name_u]Constantine[/name_u]
[name_u]Valentine[/name_u]
[name_f]Muse[/name_f]
Musik
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
