What’s your favorite name ever? And I don’t mean any name combinations and middle names or whatever…just one, single first name. Are there any cool stories, meanings or significance behind the name? I know there’s so many great ones out there to choose from, but I’d really like to know the absolute favorites!
Mine are definitely [name]Marlee[/name] and [name]Jack[/name]!
I have so many favorite names, but my actual number one favorite is one I’d never actually use. My favorite name is [name]Elizabeth[/name] because it is THE original classic, with so many nicknames and variations. It’s so pretty, and so full of uncommon letters for such a timeless name. It sounds and looks like no other name, and if it weren’t for it’s classic popularity, I would use it in a heartbeat.
For girls, my absolute favorite name would have to be [name]Claire[/name]. I love how classic and simple it is, yet very pretty. If not [name]Claire[/name], then definitely [name]Isabel[/name]. [name]Ever[/name] since I was little I’ve loved this name and it has a lot of sentimental meaning to me.
For boys, [name]Darwin[/name] is my absolute favorite. I’m sure anyone could guess why, because [name]Darwin[/name] was such a genius and I love science. This name also means a lot to me because it helped me find one of my best friends, and it helped me discover my passion for biology and discover that I want to be a bio teacher. So, [name]Darwin[/name] was definitely influential to my life and modern science, which is why it’s my favorite.
For a girl, it has to be [name]Violet[/name]. Everyone says it sounds like violent, but to me it is just the worlds best name!
The runner up would be [name]Anna[/name], for is lovely simplicity.
For a boy, [name]Benjamin[/name]. This name is just so classic and sweet, but masculine at the same time!
Up until recently my favorite girls name has been [name]Karin[/name], which is my [name]Oma[/name]'s name. However, I’ve met someone in the last few months named [name]Elidia[/name], and I have fallen in love with the name! To me it is so beautiful, I love the option of the [name]Ellie[/name] nn, and I love how easy it is to pronounce in Spanish, English, and [name]German[/name] which is very important to me. Basically, it fits all the criteria for a perfect name [name]IMO[/name].
For a boy, I’m going to have to go with [name]James[/name]. A classic, wonderful name, and it has great connotations for me. Not likely to use it as a first name though.
[name]Henry[/name]! It just makes my heart [name]SING[/name]! I can’t wait to have my very own [name]Henry[/name], instead of just imagining him like I always do!
For girls…I don’t know! I have issues with girl names, for some sad reason.
[name]Jack[/name] has always been my favorite, I had a J name obsession when I was 11. With [name]Jack[/name] it has huge significance too, as my mom gave me my 2nd middle name [name]Jaclyn[/name] after her brother who drown when he was 17 and she was 9, he was named (first & middle) after my grandma’s brother [name]Jack[/name] [name]Ralph[/name], so I’d like to keep it going since no one else in the family has used it.
It is just so simple yet elegant and beautiful. It came across it first as a word when learning concepts for music class (an aria is a type of song from an opera). I thought it was a beautiful word and decided to put it on my names list. I only later found out that it was actually a name. It reflects my love of music and is my top choice for a daughter.
For a girl, [name]Caroline[/name]. [name]Caroline[/name] brings to mind my favorite stories that I read over and over as a child - [name]Laura[/name] Ingalls’ “[name]Little[/name] House on the [name]Prairie[/name]” books.
For a boy, [name]Jack[/name]. [name]Jack[/name] is a handsome, but simple, athletic and strong boy’s name. It is also a family name.
My taste in names has shifted over the years and my list of favorites grows and grows, but I’ve always had two perennial favorites that have made it onto every list I’ve ever made.
[name]Iris[/name]. [name]Iris[/name] was my grandmother’s name. She was such a fun, beautiful and caring person and her name fit her perfectly. I love the floral and mythological connection. It’s perfectly balanced between being uncommon and well-known.
[name]Theodore[/name]. I love this name for it’s historical background and the nicknames [name]Teddy[/name] and [name]Theo[/name]. I think this name sounds so regal yet comfortable and is a hidden classic amongst boys names.
My favorite girls name would have to be [name]Georgia[/name]. It actually came upon me quite randomly when my dad was reading the paper and i guess he saw the name “[name]Georgia[/name]” and then said “[name]Georgia[/name], thats a really pretty name”. I love that inadvertently my dad helped me pick out the name, and that I know that at least someone in my family will approve of the name!
For boys, it is harder to choose. I have a love for H names, so [name]Hudson[/name], [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Harrison[/name] are all on my list. But i think that [name]Hudson[/name] is my top choice as of right now! It doesn’t have too special of a meaning, except for my love of New [name]York[/name] City (the [name]Hudson[/name] [name]River[/name])!
[name]Andreas[/name] “[name]Ace[/name]”- [name]Andreas[/name] has important family significance to us. It is unique, strong, and ties into our [name]German[/name] roots. This will be our first sons name. The nn [name]Ace[/name] is super cool too.
[name]Eva[/name]- [name]Just[/name] such a beautiful name. I think it complements [name]Andreas[/name] also.
[name]Both[/name] of these names will probably be reserved for the middle spot of our future children. But they both have family connections from both my family and DH’s family which I think is pretty awesome.
[name]Anna[/name] for a girl
[name]Edward[/name] for a boy
[name]Georgiana[/name] - and I will never be able to use it because our last name doesn’t work with it!
[name]Maxwell[/name] - I started watching the old Get Smart tv series with my husband, and as stupid as that guy can be (the character, not my husband), he has a great name.
[name]James[/name] might be my favorite. So classic and straightforward, short and powerful. Looks great written out, translates into so many languages. I love the A sound and the J and the M! I probably couldn’t actually use it myself for a few reasons, but I love it on other people. If I had a [name]James[/name] I would call him [name]Jem[/name] sometimes.
[name]Elizabeth[/name] is probably my favorite girls name. It is my mom’s favorite name and she did use it for me and regrets it, and I think I’ll regret it if I don’t use it for a daughter at least in the middle. It’s just beautiful. I like it for the same reasons I like [name]James[/name], except instead of being short it is long! [name]Elizabeth[/name] can be anyone she wants to be. There are so many nicknames and SO many notable bearers. It’s probably the most classic name there is.
(except my real favorite boys name is [name]Dashiell[/name] because it’s my son so I think only of him! But I’m just assuming this is supposed to be disregarding that fact)
