Favorite way to get to Rosie?

Lately I’ve fallen in love with [name]Rosie[/name]. Spunky, classic, sweet and botanical, she fulfills all my name criteria. The problem is deciding on a long form (I’m a big believer in formal names on the birth certificate).

[name]Rosamond[/name], [name]Rosalind[/name], [name]Rosalie[/name], [name]Rosemary[/name], [name]Rosetta[/name], [name]Rosalba[/name]…or just plain [name]Rose[/name]? What’s your favorite way to get to [name]Rosie[/name]?

I love [name]Rose[/name], and [name]Rosalie[/name] most.
There’s also [name]Rosemarie[/name].

I like [name]Rosalie[/name], [name]Rosamund[/name], and [name]Primrose[/name] best out of the [name]Rosie[/name] names. I don’t know if [name]Primrose[/name] is an option, but I love it.

I am not really super into [name]Rosie[/name] specifically but I do love many of the [name]Rose[/name]-names.

I think at this time my favourites for [name]Rosie[/name] are [name]Rosamund[/name], [name]Rosalba[/name], and Rosabel. I do like just [name]Rose[/name] as a first too though. [name]Rosamund[/name] and [name]Rosalba[/name] have a formality and weight that make an appealing somber contrast to cute [name]Rosie[/name], [name]IMO[/name]. And Rosabel is adorable but a subversion of the expected -bel/-bella names. Think how many [name]Isabella[/name] Roses there are, to how few Rosabels! I pulled up a site listing them for 2011 and only 7 were born in the entire US.

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Rosemary[/name], but it’s such a different plant in my mind’s eye (juniper-like, needles, herbal and not sweet and floral…) that I would be likelier to call her [name]Romy[/name] or [name]Rory[/name] than [name]Rosie[/name]. That’s probably my own mental hangup though. You certainly COULD call a [name]Rosemary[/name] [name]Rosie[/name] and nobody would find it odd, I’m the odd one.

From your list, [name]Rosetta[/name].

My favorite [name]Rose[/name] name is [name]Rosaline[/name]. I also love Proserpina (it has [name]Rose[/name] in the middle) and Roselani.

[name]Rose[/name]-[name]Mai[/name]
Rosemaine
Roselaine

I’ve always liked [name]Roselle[/name]. You can do [name]Rose[/name], [name]Rosie[/name] or [name]Elle[/name] for nicknames.(I also like [name]Rosella[/name]) I like [name]Rosalie[/name] or [name]Rosalia[/name] and [name]Rosette[/name], or [name]Rosetta[/name]. [name]Just[/name] plain [name]Rose[/name] is always pretty too!

[name]Rosalind[/name]! But I love all the ones you listed.

I adore [name]Rose[/name]- names, all are great but I think I might vote for romantic [name]Rosalind[/name] first than sweet [name]Rosalie[/name] second.

I really like [name]Rosemary[/name] or [name]Rosemarie[/name]. I know someone who is a [name]Rosemarie[/name] and goes by [name]Rosie[/name].

[name]Just[/name] plain [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Rosalie[/name]. [name]Both[/name] so romantic!

I like [name]Rosetta[/name] and [name]Rosamund[/name]. I also know a lady named [name]Rosella[/name].

I prefer plain old [name]Rose[/name]. Although it’s hugely popular as a middle, I’ve never heard it as a first name, so I think it would be cute and a little unexpected. It’s classic and pretty.
My next choice is [name]Rosemary[/name]. I think it’s a great, underused name and it would be sweet on a little girl.

[name]Rosalind[/name] without a doubt. I love that it has such a strong, literary connection to [name]Shakespeare[/name] and I think it’s simply a very beautiful name. I adore the nickname [name]Rosie[/name].

If you’ve got any Irish heritage, [name]Roisin[/name] is a good choice.

[name]Rosalind[/name], absolutely.

[name]Rose[/name], [name]Rosemonde[/name]/[name]Rosamund[/name], [name]Rosalind[/name] and [name]Rosario[/name].

My favorite is [name]Rosetta[/name].

[name]Rose[/name]! Simple, sweet and very underused as a first name. [name]Rosalia[/name] would be my next choice.

[name]Rosalind[/name] has always been my favorite, because I love names with multiple, different nickname options ([name]Rosie[/name], [name]Ros[/name], [name]Lindy[/name])
