Vanessa is my favourite 70s/80s name. To me it sounds so gorgeous! I am all for revitalising “dated” names. I also really like Valerie, but I think it peaked in the 50s/60s rather than the 70s/80s.
I also like:
Claire (this name was super popular in the 70s/80s here in the UK. Sometimes “dated” names can be different in the UK compared to other English-speaking countries.)
Samantha
Stephanie
Melanie
Melissa
Natalie
Natasha
Rebecca
Victoria
Danielle
Christina

@choupette Someone I went to school with just named their baby girl Valerie, and to me it sounded so 80s. I looked it up and was surprised to hear that it peaked more in the late 50s/early 60s - and that it was still so highly ranked today!
I’ve really been liking Christine lately. I went to school with a few Christines that went by Chrissy then, but go by Christine now.
Always liked Amber. So pretty but way too overused.

My mom is gen X and I’m a millennial and honestly I’ve never been fond of most of the names that were trendy in this time frame, at least for the US. Though there are a few:

I love so many of the ones you guys have listed! It’s interesting to me too how some names are so different between the US and the UK in terms of popularity - Gemma and Claire are just becoming popular here while they peaked 30-50 years ago there!
