[name_m]Just[/name_m] going on goddesses, we have [name_f]Athena[/name_f] and [name_f]Hera[/name_f], and while I don’t like the name [name_f]Hera[/name_f], I think [name_f]Athena[/name_f] is very cute!
[name_f]Cassiopeia[/name_f] is a favourite of mine, but it’s quite long compared to yours. [name_f]Hestia[/name_f] has a good meaning and, uncommonly for a Greek mythology name, refers to an ACTUALLY NICE PERSON.
Also, I second [name_f]Maia[/name_f]. She seems okay in the myths, no real standout features, she was completely oblivious to the fact her newborn son stole a bunch of cows which seems like it’d be kinda hard to miss, but I absolutely adore the name itself.
[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] actually means ‘all-gifted’ rather tan ‘unleasher of all evil’ or whatever a lot of people think but there is a very negative association.
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] is especially good for me because I love both Greek mythology (it comes from the word lyre, an Ancient Greek musical instrument) and His Dark Materials (the main character is called Lyra). Also her dæmon is called [name_m]Pan[/name_m], which happens to be the name of another Greek god and the Greek word for ‘all’. Also, didn’t [name_m]Pan[/name_m] play a lyre in the myths? Is there some connection there or no?
I think [name_f]Rhea[/name_f] might be pronounced Ray-ah or you could pronounce it differently to the original if you want to avoid the association with rear.
[name_f]Athena[/name_f] is a lovely name that works with a girl or woman of any age and if you had a daughter named that you could decorate her room with an owl theme.
Thank you for your feedback. I do love [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] but in the UK it’s a bit too close to the name [name_f]Myra[/name_f] for me. And [name_f]Myra[/name_f] has a very negative connection as it was a name of a woman who was a well known serial killer. So for that reason I can’t use it. [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] from the dark meterials books ( which I’ve read) was very likable and a cool character though.
[name_f]Cassiopeia[/name_f] is nice but it’s too long and I struggle with the spelling, in as much uas I really have to engage my brain when spelling it for some reason
That is interesting about [name_f]Pandora[/name_f]. And I hope in time anyone considering the name would therefore reconsider using it.
That’s quite funny about [name_f]Maia[/name_f]. I am quite warming to the name [name_f]Maia[/name_f] too. It fits the naming criteria I want as a middle. Something short and sweet and soft.
[name_f]Athena[/name_f] is really pretty, as as mentioned earlier, if it wasn’t for my best friend’s cat being named [name_f]Athena[/name_f]. I think it would make my list
I am also considering [name_f]Elara[/name_f] and Evania at the moment.
I don’t know if Cyra’s been mentioned? It can be pronounced SEER-a or CY-ra, with Persian or Greek origins.
However, since Lyra’s off your list because of that serial killer (and yeah, is that a negative connection? Then again, probably an unpopular opinion, [name_f]Myra[/name_f] is actually quite a nice name, even if the only bearer I knew of before checking the page for it here was, you know, a serial killer. Perks of living under a rock and living in the UK, am I right?), it might also be too close. The pronunciation can be different so maybe it’d be better? I don’t really know.
