If you love [name]Penny[/name] enough let that be her full name. [name]Penny[/name] and [name]Penney[/name] are surnames in their own right so seeing as you love unisex names using [name]Penny[/name] alone makes more sense to me.
rollo
PS Besides [name]Penny[/name] is so much nicer than [name]Penelope[/name] which I feel is a rather cumbersome name.
I like your girl naming style. We chose [name]Hadley[/name] for our DD. She is due friday, so I hope I don’t have to wait much longer! Here are a few from my original list I don’t think have been mentioned that might be your style (DH nixed all of these)
My favorites from your list are [name]Connelly[/name], [name]Greer[/name], [name]Waverly[/name], and [name]Penelope[/name]. I know most will be against [name]Connelly[/name], but I find it oddly charming, probably because it reminds me of the family in the movie “The [name]Secret[/name] of [name]Roan[/name] Inish”, though I think they spell their surname Coneely? Anyways, I think all of these options are very nice, and would suit any girl.
I’ve enjoyed [name]Elliott[/name] for a girl ever since the show Scrubs. It’s a spunky set of sounds, on a man or woman or other. It’s on my long boy list. Of your original choices, it’s my pick after [name]Penelope[/name] (which is one of my favourite names).
Not a fan of [name]Waverly[/name] (like emma said, it reminds me of the name of a hotel or something). [name]Everly[/name] is cute, whoever suggested that. Other unisex, boyish, or non-frilly names you might like: [name]Rudy[/name], [name]Ollie[/name], [name]Cory[/name], [name]Parker[/name], [name]Zelda[/name], [name]Taylor[/name], [name]Leonie[/name], [name]Shelley[/name] ([name]Mary[/name] [name]Shelley[/name], what a great namesake), [name]Persephone[/name] nn Seph, [name]Josephine[/name] nn [name]Josie[/name], Seph, [name]Jo[/name], [name]Joey[/name].
Cosmonaut: I’ve also loved [name]Elliott[/name] since Scrubs. It seems really versatile, w/ nn’s like [name]Elle[/name] & [name]Ellie[/name], and has a similar feel linguistically to [name]Charlotte[/name].
[name]Glad[/name] some folks are liking at least some of these. I’ve been worried about having to revamp the entire list. I have, though, fallen out of love w/ [name]Penelope[/name] (and likely [name]Penny[/name]). Blame it on the Kardashians.
I’ve also added [name]Elle[/name] & [name]Veda[/name] to the list. [name]Elle[/name] is probably what I would call [name]Elliott[/name] for short, but part of me is in love with its simplicity on its own. And I’ve loved [name]Veda[/name] since “My Girl.”
Thoughts on the whole list? ([name]Link[/name] here if you missed it: Girls | Nameberry).
My favourite from your list are [name]Elliott[/name] and [name]Waverly[/name]. To feminize [name]Elliott[/name] you could try Elliette or Elliotte. I personally love [name]Elliott[/name] for a girl. My husband was not a huge fan so we ended up naming our daughter [name]Julia[/name].
Other name suggestions that might fit your criteria:
[name]Marlowe[/name]
[name]Wren[/name]
[name]Rhianna[/name]
[name]Morgan[/name]
[name]Elowen[/name]
[name]Paisley[/name]
Ayley
[name]Riley[/name]
[name]Elliott[/name] - more boy than girl to me.
[name]Quinn[/name] - love!
[name]Connelly[/name] - too boy-ish, and reminds me of the actress [name]Jennifer[/name] [name]Connelly[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] - stylish
[name]Bellamy[/name] - I like it!
[name]Leighton[/name] - like the idea of this name, but can’t get behind the pronunciation for some reason. I always want to say ‘[name]Lee[/name]-ton.’
[name]Waverly[/name] - prefer [name]Willow[/name].
[name]Penelope[/name] ([name]Penny[/name]) - cute! Stylistically different from your other names though.
