I’ve been in love with the name [name]Rayce[/name] for a little boy forever! I would def. love some feedback on both middle names and maybe some criticism on it too. Obviously, the “[name]Race[/name]” part of it could be a teaser. It goes back to when I met my husband, he raced motorcycles. We have a daughter [name]Maya[/name] [name]Rayne[/name] and are welcoming a baby brother or sister in [name]May[/name].
Other boy names on our list: thoughts?
[name]Kyler[/name]

[name]Rylan[/name]
[name]Cash[/name]
[name]Grantley[/name]
[name]Kason[/name]/[name]Kayson[/name]
Looking to have a middle name, [name]Joseph[/name] - or taking other ideas!
[name]Rayce[/name] has an attractive sound! I think though that name will be forever misspelled and that might be anoying. And just spelling it [name]Race[/name] poses more problems. I see [name]Race[/name]/[name]Rayce[/name] with either spelling getting teasing about issues of race (as in, skin color, ethnicity) not just running/racing. So I have a hard time getting behind and supporting [name]Race[/name]/[name]Rayce[/name]. That said there are worse names and it fits in with a lot of naming trends. [name]Joseph[/name] is a wonderful middle name. Your taste seems to be more modern and I like something more classic to balance it out. [name]Rayce[/name] looks a lot like [name]Rayne[/name] ([name]Maya[/name] [name]Rayne[/name] is very pretty btw). Are you honoring a [name]Ray[/name]? That makes that spelling somewhat more appealing but still maybe not ideal. Here are a few suggestions:
[name]Ray[/name] [name]Joseph[/name]
[name]Rider[/name]/[name]Ryder[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] (goes along with the racing motorcycles idea, but is a much more familiar and popular name. However the sound is a little close to [name]Maya[/name]).
[name]Chase[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] (again goes along with the sound and the speed meaning, but is a lot more familiar. Since you like [name]Cash[/name], you might like [name]Chase[/name]).
Thoughts on the others:
[name]Kyler[/name]: [name]Kai[/name] is handsome. But either way these sound a lot like [name]Maya[/name]. What do you think of [name]Sawyer[/name]?
Tryg: Makes me think of [name]Trig[/name] but misspelled. I really can’t support this unless there’s some family connection you’re not sharing.
[name]Rylan[/name]: this is a handsome name. [name]Rylan[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] is nice. I like it. Still kind of close in sound to [name]Maya[/name] but OK.
[name]Cash[/name]: I like the sound of this name but just be aware it has a lot of downwardly mobile associations to most people. What about [name]Dashiell[/name] nn [name]Dash[/name]? That gets back to the idea of speed as well. Or [name]Nash[/name]?
[name]Grantley[/name]: Is this a family name? If not, just [name]Grant[/name] is far preferable. I like [name]Grant[/name]!
[name]Kason[/name]/[name]Kayson[/name]: this will fit right in and get good reactions from most people. Here on NB you’ll again get the feedback that it’s not a name with real history. If you are honoring a [name]Ray[/name] for real, maybe Rayson? Although that literally sounds like racin’.
So here’s what I support
[name]Maya[/name] [name]Rayne[/name] and [name]Ray[/name] [name]Joseph[/name]
[name]Maya[/name] [name]Rayne[/name] and [name]Rider[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] (I prefer the [name]Rider[/name] spelling, but I recognize [name]Ryder[/name] is quite common)
[name]Maya[/name] [name]Rayne[/name] and [name]Chase[/name] [name]Joseph[/name]
[name]Maya[/name] [name]Rayne[/name] and [name]Sawyer[/name] [name]Joseph[/name]
[name]Maya[/name] [name]Rayne[/name] and [name]Rylan[/name] [name]Joseph[/name]
[name]Maya[/name] [name]Rayne[/name] and [name]Dashiell[/name] [name]Joseph[/name]
[name]Maya[/name] [name]Rayne[/name] and [name]Grant[/name] [name]Joseph[/name]
I agree with Jesba- “race” carries associations far beyond going faster than someone else. It’s a complex issue in society and I don’t think it would make a good name at all. [name]Ray[/name] is a great alternative, and I really like [name]Cash[/name] from your list.
I agree with the previous posters: [name]Rayce[/name] is potentially problematic. Since you like [name]Kason[/name] and [name]Grantley[/name], how about [name]Grayson[/name]? Rayse/[name]Rayce[/name] could easily be a used as a nn, but it would give him an “out” in case the meaning of “race” becomes hard to bear. [name]Grayson[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] would be so handsome, and it sounds great with [name]Maya[/name] [name]Rayne[/name], too.
I know a woman who named her son [name]Rayce[/name] after the boy’s grandfather [name]Ray[/name]/[name]Raymond[/name]. She didn’t like the out-of-date [name]Raymond[/name] so went with [name]Rayce[/name]. I don’t know how problematic it is for the boy, who would be about ten, as I haven’t kept in touch. I was surprised when I heard the name but it made complete sense when she explained it to me.
I think any boy would be thrilled to have motorcycle racing be part of his name story.
I like [name]Cash[/name] best, especially as a NN for [name]Cassius[/name] (pr. [name]Cash[/name]-us) or [name]Cashel[/name].
I’d vastly prefer [name]Ace[/name] to [name]Rayce[/name] or [name]Raycer[/name]. I’ve also heard [name]Ace[/name] as a traditional NN for [name]Alastair[/name] or [name]Alexander[/name].
[name]Just[/name] [name]Grant[/name] sounds stronger and more masculine than [name]Grantley[/name], which sounds like the daughter of someone named [name]Grant[/name] who was enamoured of the [name]Hayley[/name]/[name]Bailey[/name] names.
