Feedback on lists

Hello there,
I am just narrowing down my baby name lists as much as possible and I wonder if people could give me feedback! I’d love to know what these names make you think of. It’s funny because I always thought my fave names were classics like [name]William[/name], [name]Joseph[/name], [name]Margaret[/name], etc, and I do love those names but in making my list I found I kept deleting those! Also, the [name]Sarah[/name] varations are in there because I need to name my firstborn daughter something with [name]Sarah[/name] in it–tradition. MN for first boy would be [name]Robert[/name]. Last name is [name]German[/name], short and abrupt, rhymes with Deck. Kids would likely have 2 MNs.

Below are my thoughts on your names list. Good luck on narrowing your list down!

BOYS
[name]Anderson[/name] - I like surnames on boys, but prefer them if they have a family connection. If [name]Anderson[/name] is a family name for you, I think this is a handsome name.
[name]Callum[/name] - I like the sound of it, but it may come off as sounding trendy. However, I like it with your last name.
[name]Ian[/name] - I’ve known two Ians and they have both been great people. I like this name because of them!
[name]Luke[/name] - I’d avoid a 1 syllable name with your last name. Does [name]Lucas[/name] nn [name]Luke[/name] appeal to you?
[name]Max[/name] - Ditto the 1 syllable thing. [name]Do[/name] any [name]Max[/name] variants appeal to you? ([name]Maxwell[/name], etc)
[name]Milo[/name] - Cute name!
[name]James[/name] - Again, I would avoid a 1 syllable FN with a 1 syllable last name. Though, I do love this name.
[name]Robert[/name] - solid name, and has some cute nicknames ([name]Robbie[/name], [name]Bobby[/name], etc)
[name]Sawyer[/name] - I find this name a little difficult to say multiple times, but that just might be me.
[name]Simon[/name] - love, love, love this name. If I ever have a son, there is a very good chance he’d be a [name]Simon[/name]. I think it’s very handsome!
[name]Walden[/name] - reminds me of [name]Thoreau[/name]'s [name]Walden[/name], so it has an artsy vibe for me. I really like it and think it would be a stunning choice.

GIRLS
[name]Addie[/name] - not my favorite, as I don’t care for nicknames as full names. However, that’s a personal thing. It is a cute name!
[name]Anna[/name] - A very cute name. Simple and classic!
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] - love the name [name]Ava[/name], and [name]Ava[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] makes a great combo!
[name]Camilla[/name] - another beautiful name. I think this name is underused - I’ve never met a [name]Camilla[/name]!
[name]Cora[/name] [name]Sara[/name] - This combo sounds very rhymey to me. Since you are interested in using 2 MNs, then maybe something like [name]Cora[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Sara[/name] or [name]Cora[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Sara[/name] would flow better.
[name]Eleanor[/name] - love this name
Ellasara - since you are trying to incorporate the name [name]Sara[/name], I think this is a workable choice. I think [name]Ellie[/name] [name]Sara[/name] (Ellisara, perhaps?) sounds a little better to my ears (Ellasara seems a little ‘ah’ heavy to me)
[name]Eloise[/name] - Elegant choice
[name]Evangeline[/name] - lovely name. It reminds me of [name]Louisiana[/name].
[name]Hazel[/name] - another lovely name - I adore your girl list!
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Clare[/name] - very cute.
[name]Megan[/name] - I always thought this name had a lot of character. However, it may come off as being somewhat dated.
[name]Nicola[/name] - I like this a lot. It sounds exotic to me.
[name]Orly[/name] - My DH’s grandmother is named [name]Ollie[/name], and this name seems similar to me. Not really my style, but I think it’s a nice name.
Sarabeth - I think this is a great way to incorporate [name]Sara[/name] into the name.
[name]Sophie[/name] - lovely name, and I like it with your last name.

BOYS
[name]Anderson[/name]- I like this name and I think it brings a lot of nn potential
[name]Callum[/name]- not really my style
[name]Ian[/name]- I’ve met several great Ians so it has positive associations for me, but I don’t love the name itself
[name]Luke[/name]- not my style but my husband loves it.
[name]Max[/name]- I think this is a great name, but I like it better as a shortening for something longer
[name]Milo[/name]- Such a cute name! I wish my husband liked it… :frowning:
[name]James[/name]- A good solid name.
[name]Robert[/name]- Again, I think the name has lots of nn potential, but I don’t like any of them. The full name is ok though
[name]Sawyer[/name]- I associate this name with [name]Tom[/name] [name]Sawyer[/name]. Fine name though.
[name]Simon[/name]- Great name and I think it would go well with your ln
[name]Walden[/name]- I like [name]Alden[/name] better

GIRLS
[name]Addie[/name]- I think this is a sweet name, but would probably pick a longer name with this as the nn
[name]Anna[/name]- It could just be my perception, but I feel like this is a very common name. But as you are going to use 2 middle names, there is room for something more unique there.
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Caroline[/name]- I think this is a lovely combination. It flows really well
[name]Camilla[/name]- My sister’s name is [name]Camilla[/name] and I think it is a great name. We often call her [name]Milla[/name]
[name]Cora[/name] [name]Sara[/name]- I don’t really like having two 2 syllable names in a row. But individually I think each is nice.
[name]Eleanor[/name]- I think this name is fantastic. I can see it working equally well on a little girl and a grown woman.
Ellasara- I don’t love this one. It almost feels forced to me.
[name]Eloise[/name]- This is one of my absolute favorite girls names. If we were having a girl I would try to convince my husband to use it.
[name]Evangeline[/name]- For some reason this has religious connotations for me.
[name]Hazel[/name]- Very cute.
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Clare[/name]- My cousin’s daughters are [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Clare[/name]. I think they are both sweet names and I think they work well together
[name]Megan[/name]- This is my favorite aunt’s name so it has very positive associations for me.
[name]Nicola[/name]- I don’t really love this one.
[name]Orly[/name]- Cute. No real associations as I haven’t known anyone with this name.
Sarabeth- not my favorite

[name]Sophie[/name]- I love this name and wish it were less popular.

I agree with ewaggenspack that with a single syllable ln, it might be best to avoid single syllable first names. Good [name]Luck[/name]!!

On the boys’ list, I would remove [name]James[/name], [name]Luke[/name] and [name]Max[/name] because they don’t flow well with a one-syllable last name (unless you’re interested in going with something longer with those as nn, like [name]Jameson[/name], [name]Lucas[/name] or [name]Maximilian[/name]). Like the pp, I personally prefer for surnamey names to have some family connection, so [name]Anderson[/name], [name]Sawyer[/name] and [name]Walden[/name] aren’t my favorites (unless they’re family names for you, in which case [name]Walden[/name] is a really cool name). [name]Alden[/name], [name]Owen[/name], or [name]Holden[/name] could be alternatives to [name]Walden[/name], and [name]Anders[/name] could be an alternative to [name]Anderson[/name]. I don’t know why but I don’t care for [name]Robert[/name], but I think you were more interested in it as a mn. I really like [name]Callum[/name], [name]Ian[/name], [name]Milo[/name] and [name]Simon[/name] on your list, and if I was trying to narrow down to a short list, these are the ones I’d go with.

[name]Callum[/name] [name]Robert[/name]
[name]Ian[/name] [name]Robert[/name]
[name]Milo[/name] [name]Robert[/name]
[name]Simon[/name] [name]Robert[/name]

On the girls’ list, I prefer full names with nicknames to nickname-names, so [name]Addie[/name] would be better as [name]Adelaide[/name] or [name]Ada[/name]. [name]Cora[/name] [name]Sara[/name] feels repetitive, how about [name]Coraline[/name] [name]Sara[/name], [name]Coralie[/name] [name]Sara[/name], or [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Sara[/name]? Ellasara, [name]Evangeline[/name], and Sarabeth are not my style. [name]Orly[/name] makes me think of O RLY?, like Oh really?, so it’s not my favorite. I really like all the others so my short list would be (with [name]Sarah[/name] variations as middles, and my favorites starred):
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Sarita[/name]*
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Sara[/name]
[name]Camilla[/name] [name]Sarah[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Sarah[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name] [name]Sarah[/name]*
[name]Hazel[/name] [name]Sarah[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Clare[/name] [name]Sara[/name]
[name]Megan[/name] [name]Sara[/name]
[name]Nicola[/name] [name]Sarai[/name]
[name]Sophie[/name] [name]Sara[/name]
