Feedback on my updated list

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all! After a long while of feeling uninspired, I’m revamping my name lists as I look forward to TTC my second child.

Some of these names are the old favorites that I love still. Others, marked with a bullet point, are new additions.

I have a 3.5-year-old named [name_m]Reuben[/name_m], and I like eclectic sibsets.

[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Bee[/name_f], family nn)
[name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] - obvious choice, or [name_m]Pete[/name_m] or [name_f]Etta[/name_f] as creative stretches)
[name_f]Henriette[/name_f] ([name_f]Hattie[/name_f]/[name_f]Hettie[/name_f]/[name_f]Etta[/name_f] as nn)
[name_f]Pomona[/name_f]
[name_f]Ines[/name_f]/[name_f]Inez[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Tilly[/name_f], [name_f]Tilda[/name_f], [name_f]Tildy[/name_f])
[name_f]Frances[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Franny[/name_f])
[name_u]Simone[/name_u]/[name_f]Simona[/name_f] ([name_m]Simon[/name_m] was shortlisted for brother [name_m]Reuben[/name_m])

  • [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] (like [name_f]Willa[/name_f], kinda loving [name_f]Velma[/name_f], as nn)
  • [name_f]Stella[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Acantha[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] (need some nn ideas beyond [name_f]Tibby[/name_f]/[name_f]Tabby[/name_f])
  • [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] (too closely tied to the baddie from The [name_m]Little[/name_m] Mermaid?)

I kind of regret not giving [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] a nature middle name ([name_u]Wolf[/name_u] and [name_u]Evergreen[/name_u] were two contenders) and will probably use a nature middle for any future kiddos.

Please let me know your thoughts!

[name_f]My[/name_f] cousins are Rub3n and Beatr!z, so I have to vote for [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]. It’s a perfect match for [name_m]Reuben[/name_m]. [name_f]Ines[/name_f] is also pretty, but maybe a little similar to [name_m]Reuben[/name_m]. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f] and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] would also be great names for [name_m]Reuben[/name_m]’s little sister.
I really like [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], [name_u]Simone[/name_u], [name_f]Frances[/name_f], [name_f]Acantha[/name_f], [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] ([name_f]Bee[/name_f], [name_u]Abby[/name_u], [name_f]Bibi[/name_f], [name_f]Tati[/name_f]) and [name_f]Ursula[/name_f]. However, I’m not sure if they fit with [name_m]Reuben[/name_m]. Which is perfectly fine, if you really love those names. [name_m]Simon[/name_m] would be perfect for [name_m]Reuben[/name_m]’s brother!

[name_u]Love[/name_u]: [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] nn [name_f]Bee[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] nn [name_f]Tilly[/name_f], [name_u]Simone[/name_u], [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] nn [name_f]Willa[/name_f] (not [name_f]Velma[/name_f])

Like: [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] (love [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], but [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] is not as WOW for me), [name_f]Henriette[/name_f] nn [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] or [name_f]Etta[/name_f] (I LOVE both these nickname, but not as much the full nam), [name_f]Ines[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f] (I don’t like [name_f]Franny[/name_f] but I like [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] and [name_f]Francie[/name_f]), [name_f]Stella[/name_f] (too common, maybe [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Estella[/name_f]?), [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] (too common), [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]

the rest are neutral for me, no dislikes really!

  • [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] - LOVE. [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] has so much spunk and would be darling on a little girl today! Nn “[name_f]Bee[/name_f]” is also charming.
  • [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] - [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] sounds so ethereal, but nn “[name_f]Elsie[/name_f]” grounds it with a fresh, playful vibe. [name_u]Love[/name_u] this one, too. ([name_m]Pete[/name_m] and [name_f]Etta[/name_f] don’t really strike me as good nicknames here, tbh.)
  • [name_f]Henriette[/name_f] - I think [name_f]Henriette[/name_f] would be an unexpected choice for a girl today, but so charming! Any of the nicknames work well, but I think I like [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] most.
  • [name_f]Pomona[/name_f] - Mmm…I’m personally not as keen on this one. It just doesn’t have an appealing sound to me.
  • [name_f]Ines[/name_f]/[name_f]Inez[/name_f] - Not my style, but I think it would be a perfectly fine choice!
  • [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] - Adorable. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] would be such a sweet choice, and I love “[name_f]Tilly[/name_f]”!
  • [name_f]Frances[/name_f] - [name_f]Frances[/name_f] is sophisticated, but [name_f]Franny[/name_f] makes it more fun and lively. Not loving [name_f]Frances[/name_f] with [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] as much, though, tbh.
  • [name_u]Simone[/name_u]/[name_f]Simona[/name_f] - I think [name_u]Simone[/name_u] sounds sweet and would make a great sister name for [name_m]Reuben[/name_m]!
  • [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] – simply gorgeous. It does feel very over-the-top next to [name_m]Reuben[/name_m], though, imho. [name_m]Just[/name_m] [name_f]Willa[/name_f], though, would be perfect, if you’d consider that. (Not a fan of [name_f]Velma[/name_f], personally. It feels very outdated.)
  • [name_f]Stella[/name_f] - Much more common than all the other choices on your list, but not a bad one by any means.
  • [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] - Such a light and lovely name! I do love [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f]. However, I’m not sure if it pairs quite as perfectly with [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] as some of the others on your list, so it probably wouldn’t be my first choice.
  • [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] - [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] is such a sweet name! I adore it.
  • [name_f]Acantha[/name_f] - Hmm… [name_f]Acantha[/name_f] feels a little mismatched with [name_m]Reuben[/name_m], imho. It’s so out-there. That’s not a bad thing – I can see the appeal of the name – but I think [name_m]Reuben[/name_m]’s sister needs a name that walks the same familiar-but-not-too-common line that his name does.
  • [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] - This one could work quite well. It’s not my personally favorite, but not a bad choice at all! Not sure about other nicknames, though…maybe [name_u]Abby[/name_u]?
  • [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] - Yes, I think it is still too connected to The [name_m]Little[/name_m] Mermaid. Sorry.

Overall, my favorites would be [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]. I also like [name_u]Simone[/name_u] for you. I think I’m liking [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] most with [name_m]Reuben[/name_m], though.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this could help!

[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]! [name_f]Bee[/name_f] is a great nickname, and that it’s a family nn makes it even better.
[name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] - I’m personally not really a fan of [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], but it’s a nice name. I really like [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] though!
[name_f]Henriette[/name_f] - I like it.
[name_f]Pomona[/name_f] - Not my style I guess but it’s a nice name
[name_f]Ines[/name_f]/[name_f]Inez[/name_f] - I really like [name_f]Ines[/name_f] and [name_f]Inez[/name_f], I don’t know which spelling I prefer.
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] - I love this name and the nicknames!
[name_f]Frances[/name_f] - I don’t really have a stron opinion on [name_f]Frances[/name_f], just a nice name. [name_f]Franny[/name_f] is a lovely nickname.
[name_u]Simone[/name_u]/[name_f]Simona[/name_f] - Somehow I like [name_m]Simon[/name_m] for a boy a lot more than [name_u]Simone[/name_u]/[name_f]Simona[/name_f] for a girl. I prefer [name_u]Simone[/name_u] over [name_f]Simona[/name_f].
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f]. [name_f]Willa[/name_f] is a nice nickname. [name_f]Velma[/name_f] as nn is an interesting choice, never heard that before! [name_f]My[/name_f] favourite nn for [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] is [name_f]Winnie[/name_f].
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] - I like this name!
[name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] - [name_u]Haven[/name_u]’t heard it before but it sounds beautiful.
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] - [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] name.
[name_f]Acantha[/name_f] - Such a beautiful name!
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] - I don’t know, maybe [name_f]Thea[/name_f] would work as a nickname?
[name_f]Ursula[/name_f] - For me personally it isn’t tied too closely to [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] from The [name_m]Little[/name_m] Mermaid because I know someone called [name_f]Ursula[/name_f].

From your list, I like [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] with [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f] and [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] and [name_u]Simone[/name_u], but not sure how they go with [name_m]Reuben[/name_m].

[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] nn. [name_f]Mina[/name_f], [name_f]Minnie[/name_f]
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] nn. [name_u]Abby[/name_u], Itsy

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

What a lovely list! Here are my thoughts:

[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Bee[/name_f], family nn)-I just love it . It’s smart & spunky. It’s super unique, yet simple enough. [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] & [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] are darling together.

[name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] - obvious choice, or [name_m]Pete[/name_m] or [name_f]Etta[/name_f] as creative stretches)-I quite like [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f]. It’s really smart & elegant. The nn [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] makes it more approachable too. It may be sort of tricky if you’re in the U.S., but not a huge problem.

[name_f]Henriette[/name_f] ([name_f]Hattie[/name_f]/[name_f]Hettie[/name_f]/[name_f]Etta[/name_f] as nn)-Hm. It’s not my favorite. I think I’d prefer [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]. [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] & [name_f]Etta[/name_f] are darling nns though.

[name_f]Pomona[/name_f]-I’ve never heard of this name. I just looked it up. I like the meaning! It doesn’t sound that pretty though in my opinion, but it’s unique & not terrible.

[name_f]Ines[/name_f]/[name_f]Inez[/name_f]-Meh, this is okay. Not sure why I don’t like it. Hard to picture on a little one for some reason.

[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Tilly[/name_f], [name_f]Tilda[/name_f], [name_f]Tildy[/name_f])-I don’t hate it, but it’s not my super favorite. Prefer the nn [name_f]Millie[/name_f].

[name_f]Frances[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Franny[/name_f])-Aw, this is charming. I love [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] & [name_f]Franny[/name_f].

[name_u]Simone[/name_u]/[name_f]Simona[/name_f] ([name_m]Simon[/name_m] was shortlisted for brother [name_m]Reuben[/name_m])-Hm. I slightly prefer [name_f]Simona[/name_f], & find that more interesting. Neither are my faves, but not bad.

  • [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] (like [name_f]Willa[/name_f], kinda loving [name_f]Velma[/name_f], as nn)-[name_f]Velma[/name_f] seems like a bit of a stretch. [name_f]Willa[/name_f] is cute. I love the boldness of [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f]. And really adore the nn [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] the most.

  • [name_f]Stella[/name_f]-[name_u]Love[/name_u] this. It’s elegant & sassy. It’s a bit more popular than some of the other names on your list if you’re worried about that.

  • [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f]-This is certainly different. Maybe a bit too much, but kind of cool.

  • [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]-[name_u]Love[/name_u] this! It’s on my list too. So sweet & cheerful.

  • [name_f]Acantha[/name_f]-Hm. I’m not loving the sound of this one for some reason.

  • [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] (need some nn ideas beyond [name_f]Tibby[/name_f]/[name_f]Tabby[/name_f])-I like it! It’s really nice w/[name_m]Reuben[/name_m]. Fairly unique yet recognizable. Smart & spunky. I know a little [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] nn [name_f]Tabby[/name_f]. She’s super cheeky, & that’s what I think of w/this name. Not sure of others nns other than Tabs?

  • [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] (too closely tied to the baddie from The [name_m]Little[/name_m] Mermaid?)-Haha, yes. I’m afraid so. Although I like the ideas of the nns [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] or [name_f]Lula[/name_f].

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.
