We currently have a son, [name]Quentin[/name] [name]Brooks[/name]. We are expecting again and are pretty close to picking out names. As it stands now our choices are:
[name]Isla[/name] [name]Rose[/name] (girl)
[name]Desmond[/name] [name]Stone[/name] (boy)
We prefer less common names, but nothing too out there. [name]Do[/name] these names ‘fit’ with our son’s name? [name]Will[/name] either of these become too common in the near future? What do you think?
I think [name]Quentin[/name], [name]Isla[/name], and [name]Desmond[/name] go really well together! Especially like the very subtle nature-y theme with the mns! Was that intentional?
I do think, however, that [name]Isla[/name] is becoming more popular, which is unfortunate because it’s such a gem! We all want to keep it quiet! I think you are right to pair a feminine name with a strong boys name like [name]Quentin[/name], and [name]Desmond[/name] is very similar in that vein for another son. I wouldn’t steer away from [name]Isla[/name] though because it goes so beautifully with [name]Quentin[/name]!
suggestions for girl if you want other options besides [name]Isla[/name]:
[name]Avis[/name]
[name]Adelle[/name]
[name]Odette[/name]
[name]Isolde[/name]
Thanks! I hope [name]Isla[/name] doesn’t become too popular. We really love it. The middle names are actually all family names, except [name]Stone[/name] so that was a bit coincidental. But the ‘S’ in [name]Stone[/name] is for a family member. I like [name]Adelle[/name] from your list. That could be pretty with [name]Rose[/name] also.
[name]Quentin[/name] is adorable!
[name]Isla[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - [name]Isla[/name] is a lovely name, simple but pretty and suitable for any age. It seems to be rising in popularity, but I wouldn’t say it is too popular to use yet at all. [name]Rose[/name] is timeless and elegant, but so popular in the middle slot that to me it seems like a filler name now (ignore this if it’s a family name, as that negates my argument). You might like another [name]Rose[/name] variation :
[name]Rosa[/name] (not great with [name]Isla[/name])
[name]Rosamund[/name]
[name]Rosalind[/name]
[name]Rosette[/name]/a
[name]Rosanne[/name]/a
[name]Rosemary[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name]/a
[name]Rosabelle[/name].
Other one syllable middles which are less common include :
[name]Plum[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Roe[/name]
[name]Tess[/name]
[name]Pearl[/name].
[name]Desmond[/name] [name]Stone[/name] - I can’t get on board with [name]Desmond[/name], I’m afraid. I like the idea of the vintage choice, but it just sounds a bit weedy to me. I’m sorry! [name]Stone[/name] is brilliant and quirky in the middle, though. You might like [name]Oswald[/name] (very handsome, and with the fun nn [name]Oz[/name] if you so desire) as an alternative to [name]Desmond[/name].
Good luck! [name]Auburn[/name]

See #6, re [name]Isla[/name].
I love [name]Plum[/name] as a middle name with [name]Isla[/name]. Nice
