We’ve redone our short list, yet again. Thank you ladies for working with me!
I would love your feedback on these names. I greatly appreciate your honest opinions, it really helps narrow the list down. The pressure is on, 8 more weeks!!!
A little back story, we live in the south- [name]Mary[/name] paired with a family surname is common. [name]Morgan[/name], [name]Mary[/name], [name]Brooks[/name], and [name]Caroline[/name] are all family names we love. Wish we could use them all…
I adore [name]Caroline[/name]. It’s so smooth and sleek but still feminine, just not over the top. [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Blythe[/name] gets my vote.
I absolutely [name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Blythe[/name] (and its meaning is great …means ‘happy’).
[name]Blythe[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] would be cute, as would [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Blythe[/name]. I have a friend with a [name]Caroline[/name] and her daughter goes by [name]Coco[/name].
I think you have a very nice list, save [name]Grey[/name], which I thought I liked until I actually heard it used for a lovely bubbly little girl. It sounded so… gray, in contrast to her spirit.
I love the double-barreled [name]Mary[/name] names. They sound so friendly to me! [name]Caroline[/name] is a timeless, elegant choice. [name]Margaret[/name] too, though it’s a little less fresh. [name]Blaire[/name] and [name]Blythe[/name] are easy breezy, with a touch of old-lady sass. [name]Morgan[/name] is a love-hate name. Some people find it dour, but I think its gorgeous meaning makes up for its slightly heavy sound.
I love the [name]Mary[/name] + family name tradition:
[name]Mary[/name] [name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Mary[/name] [name]Brooks[/name]
[name]Mary[/name] [name]Morgan[/name]
[[name]Mary[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] is a little Irish nun, and [name]Mary[/name] [name]Kate[/name] is an anorexic ex-child star]
[name]Mary[/name] [name]Caroline[/name]
and [name]Blythe[/name] paired with something longer: [name]Blythe[/name] [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Blythe[/name] [name]Morgana[/name], or [name]Blythe[/name] [name]Margarethe[/name]. [adding an extra syllable dramatically improves the flow].
[name]Blair[/name]–I have mixed feelings about. I actually like the sound–akin to [name]Claire[/name] but with a bit of tomboyish spunk. However, more than any other, it retains a bit of the rich girl surname vibe from the 80s.
[name]Blythe[/name]–one of my favorite names of all time. Sadly underused in my opinion.
[name]Morgan[/name]–I love this name, but it sounds distinctly masculine to me. I’m rooting for the boys to reclaim it, so I’ll say

[name]Morgan[/name]–I love this name, but it sounds distinctly masculine to me. I’m rooting for the boys to reclaim it, so I’ll say no to this one.
[name]Caroline[/name]–probably my favorite girl’s classic. Classic, crisp, yet sweet. I don’t think there’s a way to go wrong with this one.
[name]Grey[/name]–I’m not a fan of [name]Grey[/name] for a girl, though I can see it as a middle. It just seems a bit somber…for a man, that translates to stoic strength; for a woman I’m afraid it would just convey a lack of vitality.
[name]Margaret[/name]–I confess that I’ve never been that fond of [name]Margaret[/name], but I’m a big fan of the nns [name]Meg[/name] and [name]Maggie[/name].
[name]Mary[/name] [name]Brooks[/name] and [name]Mary[/name] [name]Kate[/name]–I also am from the south, and I appreciate the charm of the double first name. However, I’m close to three women with such names, and they have all grumbled at some point about the hassle of dealing with such a name in a computerized world, so I, personally wouldn’t choose one of these. And I agree that [name]Mary[/name] [name]Kate[/name] brings the [name]Olsen[/name] twins quickly to mind.
All in all, the only names on your list that I feel strongly against are [name]Grey[/name] and [name]Morgan[/name]. My vote would go to 1) [name]Blythe[/name] [name]Caroline[/name], 2) [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Blythe[/name], or 3) [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Blaire[/name].
