Feedback on our three finalists

I’ve got 2 weeks left before [name_u]Baby[/name_u]#2 arrives, maybe less (though this is perhaps wishful thinking: being 9 months pregnant in [name_u]July[/name_u] is horrible!). We have a boy’s name, but we’ve been stuck on the same three girl names. Obviously, we can wait and see which one seems to fit when she (if she’s a she) gets here, but I wanted some outside feedback before then.

[name_f]Eudora[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
[name_f]Forsythia[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
[name_f]Euphemia[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]

Thanks!

My favorite is [name_f]Eudora[/name_f]

I would pick [name_f]Forsythia[/name_f]. I’d like to suggest [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f].

I love this two: [name_f]Forsythia[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Euphemia[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. I suppose [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is set in stone, but all of these names are long, heavy, grand (even [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]) and some fun or simple first name would be better.

[name_f]Euphemia[/name_f] is my favorite. Despite being a grand name, it retains a light and whimsical feel. And lends itself to several cute nicknames like Euphy, Phee, or [name_f]Mia[/name_f]. [name_f]Eudora[/name_f] would be my second pick. [name_f]Forsythia[/name_f] is a little too ornate for me.

I like [name_f]Forsythia[/name_f] the best. Euhpemia is nice too, but I’d drop [name_f]Eudora[/name_f].
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] goes well with all of them, it’s a great middle name. But it’s a lot, such a strong heavy first name and then [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. It’s not bad, just very… heavy.

My preference is for [name_f]Euphemia[/name_f] - [name_f]Forsythia[/name_f] feels onerous (and a bit forced as you already have one child with an unusual “F” name) and [name_f]Eudora[/name_f] doesn’t have the same charm as [name_f]Euphemia[/name_f]. Plus who can resist the idea of [name_f]Effie[/name_f] as a nickname? SO CUTE!!!

[name_f]Euphemia[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is my fave. I’ve never really been aware of any of your 3 names but they all are good with [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. And euphemia is at once pretty and playful but not too light or silly

I love [name_f]Forsythia[/name_f].

I’d go with [name_f]Eudora[/name_f]–just to make a nice set of Southern authoress names with [name_u]Flannery[/name_u]! Though, what happens if you have a third girl…[name_u]Harper[/name_u]?

I like [name_f]Euphemia[/name_f] best, followed closely by [name_f]Eudora[/name_f]. [name_u]Flannery[/name_u] and [name_f]Euphemia[/name_f] make a really elegant, striking, feminine, strong sibset. [name_f]Eudora[/name_f] is charming, but I would worry about the nn [name_f]Dora[/name_f], which personally isn’t my cup of tea. [name_f]Forsythia[/name_f] feels a bit off to me for some reason. It’s a bit frilly next to [name_u]Flannery[/name_u], I don’t know.

I’d go with [name_f]Eudora[/name_f]. The other two, [name_f]Forsythia[/name_f] and [name_f]Euphemia[/name_f] don’t even sound like names to my ear.

I like [name_f]Eudora[/name_f] best.

Another vote for [name_f]Eudora[/name_f]!

Such cool names!! I really adore [name_f]Eudora[/name_f]! So vintage and lovely!

I think [name_f]Eudora[/name_f] seems slightly acceptable in my opion on a child because it reminds me of [name_f]Eldora[/name_f].

Objectively I think I like [name_f]Forsythia[/name_f] best, and I love the idea of [name_f]Thia[/name_f] as a nick name, but if you’re not planning on using a nn I think [name_f]Eudora[/name_f] probably works best with [name_u]Flannery[/name_u]. I like [name_u]Flannery[/name_u] and [name_f]Thia[/name_f] or [name_u]Flannery[/name_u] and [name_f]Flossy[/name_f], but [name_u]Flannery[/name_u] and [name_f]Forsythia[/name_f] just doesn’t quite fit in my opinion. [name_u]Flannery[/name_u] and [name_f]Eudora[/name_f] is cute though!

I love the literary connection between [name_f]Eudora[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] and [name_u]Flannery[/name_u] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]. I also adore the shortform [name_f]Dora[/name_f]. One of the sweetest vintage names. I equally like [name_f]Forsythia[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] for different reasons. The name is evocative and gorgeous on its own, plus it’s as relatively rare and surprising as [name_u]Flannery[/name_u]. It also has the trendy nickname [name_f]Thia[/name_f]/[name_f]Thea[/name_f] built in. I’m also a fan of using the same first letter for siblings when the names are unusual.

I like the name [name_f]Euphemia[/name_f], but if I’m being choosy I’ll say that it isn’t my favourite with [name_u]Flannery[/name_u]. It has the ‘f’ sound, but with different spelling, which I’m not crazy about in a sibset, although this usually bothers me more when it happens at the beginning, like [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Frances[/name_f]. It also has a repeated "ee’ sound (you-[name_u]FEE[/name_u]-MEE-uh), when there is a already an “ee” sound at the end of [name_u]Flannery[/name_u]. I think the nickname “[name_f]Effie[/name_f]”, if used, would diminish the interesting sound of [name_u]Flannery[/name_u], while the nickname [name_f]Mia[/name_f] sounds a tad too generic for my taste.

My choice would be [name_f]Euphemia[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f].

I vote for [name_f]Eudora[/name_f]!

Can’t wait to see the announcement!
