Not currently expecting, but hopefully soon. I have been pondering and planning names for so long now! I am inspired by meanings of names (I have listed those that I have found information on so far).
I would really love it if you ladies could have a look at my potential combinations (for girl) - and give any feedback or initial thoughts that you might have! Thank you so much in advance!
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] (of the sea; fairy - sea fairy)
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] (from the forest; pretty rose)
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] (happiness; weaver)
[name_f]Alba[/name_f] [name_f]Constance[/name_f] (white/dawn; steadfastness - like the idea of unwavering dawn)
[name_f]Sabine[/name_f] [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] ([name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Sabine[/name_f], always have! My middle name is [name_f]Lynne[/name_f]. I love the old hollywood glamour feel of both [name_f]Sabine[/name_f] & [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] together!)
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] - Nice [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is growing on me. [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] would also be adorable.
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] - I think the ls catch on each other. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]?
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] - [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] is awesome [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] not so much. [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Flora[/name_f]?
[name_f]Alba[/name_f] [name_f]Constance[/name_f] - These two go super well together.
[name_f]Sabine[/name_f] [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] - [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t sound quite right together. [name_f]Sabine[/name_f] [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] or [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] [name_f]Ava[/name_f]?
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]: I love how delicate, ethereal [name_f]Faye[/name_f] balances out strong, weighty [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f].
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]: this flows beautifully, and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is such a sweet, spunky little name! I’d slightly prefer [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] with [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] to mitigate the sweetness somewhat (and just because I adore [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]!)
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]: love again. [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] is such a sweet, elegant, understatedly beautiful name. I like it with a long and feminine middle like [name_f]Penelope[/name_f].
[name_f]Sabine[/name_f] [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f]: [name_f]Sabine[/name_f] is a favourite of mine too! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you say “sah-BEEN” (like in [name_m]French[/name_m]) or “sah-BEEN-uh” (like in [name_m]German[/name_m])? Such a chic, elegant name and incredibly underused.
I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f], I have to say - I find it a little clunky and dated without being quite “vintage” yet. I also don’t love the repeated -n endings if you pronounce [name_f]Sabine[/name_f] the [name_m]French[/name_m] way. But I do agree that [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] undoubtedly brings to mind Old Hollywood and would be a great homage to Ms [name_u]Monroe[/name_u]!
Other ways to honour [name_f]Lynne[/name_f]: [name_f]Linnea[/name_f], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Lenore[/name_f], [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]…
ETA: Oops, missed out Alba Constance! It’s gorgeous - I really love how simple and clean Alba looks and sounds, and Constance is a lovely, old-fashioned, sweetly serious name. I this is my favourite actually!
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] - Great meaning, flow, look, and sound!
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] - Great meaning, sounds like a princess’s name. I personally prefer [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], but I like this a lot,
[name_f]Sabine[/name_f] [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] - Very elegant and Old Hollywood sounding, as you said. I like it! [name_f]Sabine[/name_f] is so underrated. I don’t love the flow of this combo since it’s a bit choppy, but I like the names themselves.
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] (of the sea; fairy - sea fairy) - love this, absolutely gorgeous with an amazing meaning to match
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] (from the forest; pretty rose) - I really like them together. They have such a magical feel
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] (happiness; weaver) - not a fan of [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] personally
[name_f]Alba[/name_f] [name_f]Constance[/name_f] (white/dawn; steadfastness - like the idea of unwavering dawn) - beautiful! I [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Alba[/name_f], it’s so sweet and [name_f]Constance[/name_f] grounds it somehow
[name_f]Sabine[/name_f] [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] -the names aren’t my favourite but they do have a very glamrous intriguing feel to them when put togetjer! I quite like it
Such beautiful names! We’re in the same boat; not yet expecting but obsessed with names! I have always been interested in named and their meanings
I’ve never paid much attention to [name_f]Sabine[/name_f], but now that it’s been mentioned here, it’s growing on me. I see there are different ways to pronounce it. But I do like it
I love how you know the meanings behind the names. All are beautiful. If I had to pick ONE setif names, I’m leaning towards [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f].
I really like [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]! I had the similar [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] on my list for awhile, just wanted to mention that [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] doesn’t mean “pretty rose”. It possibly means “beautiful rose”. [name_m]Just[/name_m] an FYI -Meaning, origin and history of the name Rosalind - Behind the Name
Second favorite would be [name_f]Alba[/name_f] [name_f]Constance[/name_f]! [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] is nice too but the meaning of [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is actually uncertain - Meaning, origin and history of the name Cordelia - Behind the Name.
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] and [name_f]Alba[/name_f] [name_f]Constance[/name_f] are stunning. [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Faye[/name_f] are long time favorites. There’s just something about [name_f]Alba[/name_f] [name_f]Constance[/name_f] that I love.
Thank you for all the information and feedback, ladies! I am pleasantly surprised by the positive reception of [name_f]Alba[/name_f] [name_f]Constance[/name_f] - I was predicting that this one might not be a favorite! I think [name_f]Alba[/name_f] [name_f]Constance[/name_f] is my favorite COMBINATION of them all. With [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] being my favorite FIRST name. I love it so much that if the time really did come to name a daughter, I think I would be worried about choosing the wrong middle, or one that simply does not do [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] justice! I think I will keep [name_f]Faye[/name_f] with [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] for the time being, though - thank you for the positive feedback.
My husband’s favorite combination is [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]. I think I would prefer something with a little more mystery/intrigue, though, like [name_f]Sabine[/name_f] (I pronounce [name_f]Sabine[/name_f] the [name_m]French[/name_m] way). I agree that the -N endings of both [name_f]Sabine[/name_f] and [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] is not ideal. Something keeps me holding on to these two names paired together, though!
Thanks again ladies, for taking the time to discuss some of the girl names that speak to my heart! That was fun!
