I was hoping to get some opinions on our name choices for a girl. I’d really like to hear your favorites, and why. The middle name will likely be “[name_u]Jude[/name_u]”. Our last name starts with “Mc”.
[name_f]Allegra[/name_f] - I know there’s that annoying allergy medicine reference, but I still think it’s a beautiful and elegant name. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think that reference overpowers the beauty of the name?
[name_f]Verona[/name_f]
[name_f]Zara[/name_f] - I see it as a slightly more exotic version of [name_f]Sara[/name_f]. Classic with a bit of a cool twist.
[name_f]Celia[/name_f] - pretty name, pretty meaning, with a possibility of using “[name_f]CeCe[/name_f]” as a nickname at some point.
I’m open to new suggestions, if you have any that just pop in your head as a similar style. I don’t want anything popular. My daughter’s name is [name_f]Edith[/name_f] nn [name_f]Edie[/name_f]. Our second choice for her was [name_f]Thora[/name_f].
I think all of the names are lovely! I do not think the allergy med reference overpowers the beauty of [name_f]Allegra[/name_f]. That might be the first thing some people think of, but that association will wear off quickly. It’s a lovely, lively name. But my personal favorites are [name_f]Zara[/name_f] and [name_f]Celia[/name_f]. [name_f]Zara[/name_f] feels more exotic to me than [name_f]Edith[/name_f] (tho [name_f]Edie[/name_f] and [name_f]Zara[/name_f] are nice together)… so my official vote is for [name_f]Celia[/name_f], as I like it best with [name_f]Edith[/name_f] and with [name_u]Jude[/name_u]. Good luck!
These names are great! The only one I dislike is [name_f]Allegra[/name_f]. I feel like the allergy medication reference would overpower the real meaning of this name. My favorite name on this list is [name_f]Verona[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Allegra[/name_f] and I’ve actually no idea about the allergy medication so I guess I’m lucky. I love a lot of ‘A’ names though so it’s not quite made my favourites just yet but its still gorgeous!
[name_f]Verona[/name_f] is sweet, and I really like the idea of [name_f]Edith[/name_f] and [name_f]Verona[/name_f] - totally classy but unexpected.
I do like [name_f]Celia[/name_f] but I find like it just lacks something. I do prefer [name_f]Selene[/name_f], do you like that? [name_f]Edith[/name_f] and [name_f]Selene[/name_f] would be pretty.
If the middle is likely to be [name_u]Jude[/name_u] then I think [name_f]Verona[/name_f] [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and [name_f]Allegra[/name_f] [name_u]Jude[/name_u] are the best options!
With [name_f]Edith[/name_f], I like [name_f]Celia[/name_f] [name_u]Jude[/name_u] best from your list. But, I like [name_f]Thora[/name_f] better than the other names on your list! What about [name_f]Vera[/name_f] or [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] instead of of [name_f]Verona[/name_f]? I think they work better with [name_f]Edith[/name_f] and they both work well with [name_u]Jude[/name_u] as a mn.
[name_f]Allegra[/name_f] screams the allergy medication to me. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if the association doesn’t bother you, I would be afraid that people would frequently mention the association. I like [name_f]Verona[/name_f] and [name_f]Zara[/name_f] - they’re both very pretty. [name_f]Celia[/name_f] [name_u]Jude[/name_u], however, is stunning! [name_f]Edith[/name_f] and [name_f]Celia[/name_f] make the sweetest sibset!
I’m not really concerned with the name being the same style as [name_f]Edith[/name_f], just as long as saying them together doesn’t clash in some way or sound the same. I like old names as well as unique names, so I don’t mind both being reflected.
I love [name_f]Thora[/name_f], too, but since it was part of our final two for [name_f]Edie[/name_f], it just doesn’t seem right to use it for anyone else!
Oh, and I like [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] and [name_f]Vera[/name_f], and they have been on and off my list before. I just felt they ultimately weren’t really our style.
This is some great feedback and thoughts and it’s really helping me sort out my feelings for the names, so thanks!
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] & [name_f]Zara[/name_f] or [name_f]Edith[/name_f] & [name_f]Celia[/name_f]. Both [name_f]Zara[/name_f] & [name_f]Celia[/name_f] go so well with [name_f]Edith[/name_f].
[name_f]Celia[/name_f] is one of the most beautiful classic names out there, especially if it’s short for [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]. [name_f]Zara[/name_f] is also nice. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Verona[/name_f] or [name_f]Allegra[/name_f], but both go well with [name_f]Edith[/name_f]. What you have to remember is that when she grows up she won’t automatically be associated with her sister; the name has to work on an adult as well as a child, and I think [name_f]Celia[/name_f] does well for both.
Congratulations!
With [name_f]Edith[/name_f] nn [name_f]Edie[/name_f], I think [name_f]Celia[/name_f] [name_u]Jude[/name_u] nn [name_f]CeCe[/name_f] would be wonderful. [name_f]Edie[/name_f] and [name_f]CeCe[/name_f] are just dreamy as a sibset.
