Feedback on these names?

[name_f]Anouk[/name_f] -> This was on my list when expecting [name_f]Ziva[/name_f] and it’s once again growing on me. A plus is that it’s quirky, artsy and fun and would also honor SO’s mom, [name_f]Anne[/name_f].

[name_f]Anais[/name_f]-> [name_f]Noor[/name_f]'s suggestion inspired by the clever little sister from Gumball or whatever. I actually love it but worry about mispronunciations… Would also honor grandma [name_f]Anne[/name_f].

[name_f]Eleni[/name_f]-> This is one of my all-time favorite names and I’m really glad it’s back on the table. SO has warmed up to it more.

[name_f]Iman[/name_f]-> This is one of my favorite Arabic names, but I’m scared of a kid named this getting teased.

[name_f]Yuna[/name_f]-> I have fallen in love with this rarity of a name. I discovered it while surfing around youtube and coming across the talented Malaysian singer.

[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] -> I am so in love with this name - like I never thought I’d ever be, but am concerned it’s too different from our kids’ names and perhaps too frilly and girly? Coming to think of it, we don’t care so much about the names matching but really whether we love them or not…

[name_f]Nina[/name_f] -> A bit more simple for my taste, but I actually really like it. SO’s suggestion!

[name_f]Irene[/name_f] -> This is a family name for me that I’m really attached to but never really found the perfect combination for.

[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]-> One of my greatest name loves. SO’s not at all opposed.

[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] -> Another of my greatest name loves. I love the nicknames [name_f]Bea[/name_f] and [name_f]Bibi[/name_f].

I’m reading [name_m]Calvino[/name_m]'s “Invisible Cities” again so in a little while I’ll come with a whole new list to pester you guys about.

Thank you!

From your list the one that stands out
Most is [name_f]Anais[/name_f]. I have always loved that one and can’t use it because of a surname mismatch.

I don’t think mispronunciation would last longer than one correction.

[name_f]Anouk[/name_f] ~ Honestly, I don’t understand all the love I’ve seen this name receive recently. It’s just nms.

[name_f]Anais[/name_f] ~ Unfortunately, this name just doesn’t sound nice, imo.

[name_f]Eleni[/name_f] ~ This is cute, and fits in well with your other girls.

[name_f]Iman[/name_f] ~ [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Imani[/name_f]?

[name_f]Yuna[/name_f] ~ Nms, but definitely goes well with the style of [name_f]Noor[/name_f] and [name_f]Ziva[/name_f].

[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] ~ I am in love with this name, too! Though, I agree, it is a bit too “frilly amd girly” to go with your other girls bold names. That’s not a bad thing though, and I do think you should use the name you love whether or not it “matches”.

[name_f]Nina[/name_f] ~ I am pretty neutral with this name. I wouldn’t consider it in your sibset, though, because it kind of sounds similar to [name_f]Noor[/name_f] and [name_f]Ziva[/name_f].

[name_f]Irene[/name_f] ~ It’s a nice, classy name. I immediately think of [name_f]Irene[/name_f] [name_m]Adler[/name_m] (as portrayed by [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] McAdams) in [name_m]Sherlock[/name_m] [name_m]Holmes[/name_m], which is where I would lean away from it. But still a great name.

[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] ~ I love [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]! She is so charming. I think it could work with [name_u]Alex[/name_u] and [name_f]Viola[/name_f] for sure.

[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] ~ [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is great, but I prefer [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] which I think you should consider because it goes really well in your sibset, imo.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps:)

Congratulations! I hadn’t seen until now that you were expecting! [name_m]How[/name_m] exciting! :]]] (Also, just a side note, but I hadn’t noticed it until now, but [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] Wilhemina and [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] Nawal are gorgeous!)

[name_f]Anouk[/name_f] - yesssss! I feel like this was one of my favorites for you when you were expecting [name_f]Ziva[/name_f]. (I think [name_f]Eve[/name_f] might have been another one? I loved the idea of both with [name_f]Noor[/name_f] and [name_f]Viola[/name_f], and while [name_f]Eve[/name_f] is probably out because of [name_f]Ziva[/name_f], I think [name_f]Anouk[/name_f] is still STUNNING!) Plus, I just came across an [name_f]Anouk[/name_f] through work a couple days ago, and seeing it used in real life makes me love it a million times more. I feel like I’m sabotaging my favorite option for you, but I am not sure about [name_f]Noor[/name_f] and [name_f]Anouk[/name_f] together. They sort of have a similar cadence and sound.

[name_f]Anais[/name_f] - I don’t want to admit it, but I think [name_f]Anais[/name_f] is even better with [name_f]Noor[/name_f], [name_u]Alex[/name_u], [name_f]Viola[/name_f], and [name_f]Ziva[/name_f]. I especially love [name_f]Ziva[/name_f] and [name_f]Anais[/name_f] together–so exotic, feminine, and gorgeous! [name_f]Anouk[/name_f] is more spunky. Either [name_f]Anne[/name_f] name would be lovely, and honoring family is lovely, too. I am concerned about pronunciation, too, which is why I’ve never added it to my list–I swear, every time I hear an American say it, they pronounce it a [name_m]NEW[/name_m] wrong way!–but it is lovely. Maybe as a MN for an Arabic name?

[name_f]Eleni[/name_f] - doooo iiitttt! (I’m slightly TOO obsessed with [name_f]Eleni[/name_f]. I’ve met several, and it just never gets old. I adore her!) Is [name_f]Sonora[/name_f] Arabic? Sometimes I find it hard to figure out which name is Arabic haha.

[name_f]Iman[/name_f] - this is lovely! It reminds me of [name_f]Imani[/name_f], which I’m more familiar with. For what it’s worth, I think [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_f]Iman[/name_f] would be STUNNING. I think I like it as much as [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] Nawal. :slight_smile:

[name_f]Yuna[/name_f] - not my particular cup of tea, but it’s still a nice name!

[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] - I adore [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], and I think it sort of balances out the unusualness of [name_f]Noor[/name_f], [name_f]Viola[/name_f], and [name_f]Ziva[/name_f] with the classic feel of [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. I think [name_f]Noor[/name_f], [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_f]Viola[/name_f], [name_f]Ziva[/name_f], and [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] are fantastic together. And you could tame it down a little with a more powerful than frilly nickname, like maybe [name_u]Ari[/name_u] or even [name_f]Rella[/name_f]/[name_f]Belle[/name_f]/[name_f]Elle[/name_f]? [name_f]Belle[/name_f] is still frilly, but feels stronger than [name_f]Bella[/name_f] to me. :slight_smile:

[name_f]Nina[/name_f] - not really my thing, but I don’t like most “N” names.

[name_f]Irene[/name_f] - I prefer it as a middle, but I like it a lot. I found [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f] on my family tree and instantly loved it–I would love to use [name_f]Emma[/name_f] Irène one day. I especially love the [name_m]French[/name_m] pronunciation, and the meaning. There is a little old [name_f]Irene[/name_f] in my church, and she goes by Reeney (sp? [name_f]REE[/name_f]-nee). She’s a cute little old lady. :slight_smile:

[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] - omgoodness, love. I have to figure out how to get her on my list. I think [name_f]Noor[/name_f], [name_u]Alex[/name_u], [name_f]Viola[/name_f], [name_f]Ziva[/name_f], and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] would be perfect together! I think [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] does a good job of blending the styles of [name_u]Alex[/name_u]‘s names with your girls’.

[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] - I’m not a huge fan–I much prefer [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] and Beatriu–but it is certainly well loved and a nice name, so you can’t go wrong with it. I feel like the spunky [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] would be a better stylistic fit with [name_f]Noor[/name_f], [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_f]Viola[/name_f], and [name_f]Ziva[/name_f], but I’m also probably pretty biased.

[name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], [name_f]Eleni[/name_f], and [name_f]Anouk[/name_f] are my favorites!

Thanks you guys for the really enthusiastic responses, especially you [name_u]Ash[/name_u], whose responses made me smile so big! Actually, the [name_f]Irene[/name_f] in my family is pronounced the [name_m]French[/name_m] way because my mom’s side is all Lebanese-[name_m]French[/name_m]. But I love the English version as well so… We’ll see. I’m so glad you liked [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] - [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] is a family name as well and [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] I really, really love. [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] Nawal is also new and is something I’m trying out.

As for [name_f]Imani[/name_f] that you guys mentioned as an alternative to [name_f]Iman[/name_f], I’ll have to think about it… I’ve never met an [name_f]Imani[/name_f].

[name_m]Ah[/name_m] and answering your question, [name_u]Ash[/name_u], no, unfortunately [name_f]Sonora[/name_f] is not Arabic but of Latin origin. It has to do with sound. I just saw it somewhere and fell in love with how ethereal, natural and breathy it is.

[name_f]Anouk[/name_f] -> Something about this name is just gorgeous. I do prefer [name_f]Anais[/name_f], but this is also wonderful.

[name_f]Anais[/name_f]-> [name_u]Love[/name_u]! It just looks pretty on paper, as well as said outloud. One of my favorites on your list.

[name_f]Eleni[/name_f]-> This is nms

[name_f]Iman[/name_f]-> Nms

[name_f]Yuna[/name_f]-> I have never seen or heard this name, but it is very pretty.

[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] -> Too frilly for me - and everytime I see this name, I think of Arendelle from Frozen (sorry!)

[name_f]Nina[/name_f] -> [name_u]LOVE[/name_u]. My favorite on here. I think it’s short, sweet, spunky, and beautiful.

[name_f]Irene[/name_f] -> Too dated for me

[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]-> One of the best flower names. It’s just so happy :slight_smile:

[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] -> [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Bea[/name_f] as a nn. This is a wonderful name.

My favorites are: [name_f]Nina[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Anais[/name_f], and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]. I actually think some great combos would be:

[name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Anais[/name_f] and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] the best from your list and with your set.

[name_f]Anais[/name_f] [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] or [name_f]Anais[/name_f] [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]

[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] or [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Irena[/name_f]

Thank you for the feedback so far, berries!

Bump. Bump. Bump.

[name_f]Anouk[/name_f] -> Is very common where I am and has an image of a tough girl. So nah.

[name_f]Anais[/name_f]-> [name_f]Lovely[/name_f]. Nice it’s an honor name for you. I wouldn’t worry about mispronounciations so much even the most fail safe names will fall prone to sb not saying it right like my [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] being heard as [name_f]Selma[/name_f] or people calling me [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Susannah[/name_f].

[name_f]Eleni[/name_f]-> I get a bit of a Greek feeling from this name don’t know why. I like it though seems girly yet spunky.

[name_f]Iman[/name_f]-> [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t love it due to supermodel associations.

[name_f]Yuna[/name_f]-> like it seems sweet.

[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] -> Yes, to me very frilly bit pretentious maybe.

[name_f]Nina[/name_f] -> I love it but not next to the other names you already have listed.

[name_f]Irene[/name_f] -> It’s okay. I find it a bit boring I guess maybe [name_f]Irena[/name_f]?

[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]-> I like it but it’s very popular. Maybe having [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] AND [name_f]Viola[/name_f] is a bit too matchy for me.

[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] -> I like it but don’t think the style matches your other names.

I would go with [name_f]Anais[/name_f], [name_f]Yuna[/name_f] or [name_f]Eleni[/name_f].

Thank you for your feedback! I must say that I’m in love with your daughter’s name, I love [name_f]Zelda[/name_f], and [name_f]Nadine[/name_f] is my mum’s name so love that too!

[name_f]Eleni[/name_f] is actually the Latinized Greek version of [name_f]Helen[/name_f]/[name_f]Helena[/name_f].

Oh honey, you weren’t harsh at all! I was really looking for honest feedback and criticisms - I need to at least shorten my girls’ name list! I agree with you that [name_f]Nina[/name_f] would need a really bold middle name and I’m a huge fan of @catherinak’s choice for her daughter. Thanks for taking the time to share with me your opinions, @[name_f]Adelina[/name_f]!

lol, I’m glad I could make you smile so big. :slight_smile: I think [name_f]Imani[/name_f] is a Swahili name. Most of the Imanis I’ve known are Kenyans, anyway.

Out of curiosity, how is [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] said? I’m starting to view it as SO aesthetically beautiful, but I can’t ever tell if it’s AY-la like [name_f]Kayla[/name_f] or EYE-lah like [name_f]Isla[/name_f]!

[name_f]Ayla[/name_f] is pronounced the same as [name_f]Isla[/name_f] (EYE-lah).

Berries, any thoughts on the name [name_f]Oona[/name_f]?
