A friend of mine is expecting a boy in [name_f]September[/name_f] and she’s having real trouble cutting down her short(long)list. I offered to post here for her as she doesn’t get online much.
She is looking for a short name that is unusual, but not unfamiliar. She loves last names as first names, but not the obvious ones like [name_m]Jackson[/name_m], [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] etc. She likes nature names, so long as they are masculine sounding, as she finds some nature names to be quite girly. She really loves double letters, as in [name_m]Connell[/name_m] and [name_m]Russell[/name_m]. Her husband is pretty relaxed about the whole naming process, his only request is the name not be “boring like [name_m]John[/name_m]” (those were his words). I personally believe he will get more involved once the list is cut down a little.
For reference, she loves girls names [name_f]Meadow[/name_f], [name_f]Summer[/name_f] and [name_f]Willow[/name_f], and her GP favourite girls name is [name_m]Avon[/name_m].
So here is the list, we’re looking for feedback, advice, suggestions, middle name ideas, whatever you got!
I like [name_m]Cole[/name_m], [name_u]Reed[/name_u] and [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] from the list. [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] [name_m]Cole[/name_m] would be handsome.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites would be; [name_u]Lane[/name_u], [name_u]Oak[/name_u] (prefer [name_u]Oakley[/name_u]), [name_u]Reed[/name_u] (slightly prefer [name_u]Reid[/name_u]), and [name_u]Rees[/name_u] (much prefer [name_u]Rhys[/name_u], or even [name_u]Reece[/name_u]).
[name_m]Cole[/name_m] [name_u]Everett[/name_u]
[name_m]Cole[/name_m] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
[name_m]Heath[/name_m] [name_m]Evander[/name_m]
[name_u]Lane[/name_u] [name_u]Everett[/name_u]
[name_u]Lane[/name_u] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
I would suggest [name_m]Penn[/name_m] as a nickname for [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], as I had much trouble with middles for just [name_m]Penn[/name_m], and I happen to like [name_m]Penn[/name_m] as a nn for [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u].
So here is the list, we’re looking for feedback, advice, suggestions, middle name ideas, whatever you got!
[name_m]Cole[/name_m]-- Very plain.
[name_m]Connell[/name_m]-- [name_u]CON[/name_u]-ul, or [name_u]Con[/name_u]-[name_f]ELLE[/name_f]?
Croft-- Doesn’t sound like a name at all.
[name_m]Heath[/name_m]-- This is just dated to me.
[name_u]Lane[/name_u]-- Sorry for all the negativity! Now here’s some positive. I have a little [name_u]Lane[/name_u] in my preschool class. He’s such a sweet boy. I like this name because of him. His baby brother (who is also due in [name_f]September[/name_f]) will either be named [name_m]Beau[/name_m], [name_m]Jeb[/name_m], or [name_m]Colt[/name_m]. Those could be suggestions for you.
[name_m]Miller[/name_m]-- This is a cool, under-used surname.
[name_u]Oak[/name_u]-- I like [name_u]Oakley[/name_u], and [name_u]Oak[/name_u] as a nickname.
[name_m]Osborne[/name_m]-- I just think of [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m].
[name_m]Penn[/name_m]-- [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] this. Such a handsome one syllable name.
[name_u]Reed[/name_u]-- Prefer the spelling [name_u]Reid[/name_u], but I do like this a lot.
[name_u]Rees[/name_u]-- I like the [name_u]Reece[/name_u] and [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] spelling for a boy.
[name_m]Russell[/name_m]-- Handsome and classic, but use as a middle. [name_m]Miller[/name_m] [name_m]Russell[/name_m]? Or [name_m]Beau[/name_m] [name_m]Russell[/name_m]. [name_m]How[/name_m] handsome.
[name_m]Tudor[/name_m]-- This doesn’t sound at all like a name either.
[name_u]Walker[/name_u]-- Very manly and western.
[name_u]Wynn[/name_u]-- [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]West[/name_u] instead? or [name_m]Weston[/name_m].
[name_u]Porter[/name_u], [name_m]Jackson[/name_m], [name_m]Eli[/name_m], [name_m]Gannon[/name_m], [name_m]Orson[/name_m], [name_m]Wiley[/name_m], [name_m]Myles[/name_m], [name_u]Mason[/name_u], [name_m]Slater[/name_m], [name_u]River[/name_u], [name_m]Ian[/name_m], [name_m]Forrest[/name_m], [name_m]Judson[/name_m] are my suggestions. I have a new baby cousin named [name_m]Lawson[/name_m] and you might like that too!
