Feeling Desperate... Still Not in Love with a Boys' Name!

I am due in three months with a little boy and am feeling the pressure. My husband and I have not landed on a boys’ name we like. We have found some names that we like that are too rhymey with his last name or start with the same letter, which feels too cartoony for us! His last name is [name_u]Fallon[/name_u].

Too Rhymey:
[name_m]Calvin[/name_m]
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m]

Alliteration is Too Cartoony:
[name_m]Foster[/name_m]
[name_m]Findlay[/name_m]

at this point, the only names we kind of like are:
[name_m]Baxter[/name_m]
[name_u]Reed[/name_u]
[name_m]Clyde[/name_m]
[name_m]Otis[/name_m]
[name_m]Cashel[/name_m]
[name_m]Laszlo[/name_m]
[name_u]Everett[/name_u]
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u]
Zeller (an old family name)

I really like names to have natural nicknames however (which names like [name_u]Reed[/name_u], [name_m]Clyde[/name_m], [name_m]Otis[/name_m], and [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] don’t really)
I also don’t like names to be too trendy (which [name_u]Everett[/name_u], [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], and [name_m]Otis[/name_m] seem to verge on)

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any more suggestions for us? We were over the moon in love with our girl pick ([name_f]Anthea[/name_f] [name_m]Russell[/name_m]) and want this little boy to have a name we love just as much!

From your list, I like [name_u]Everett[/name_u], [name_u]Reed[/name_u], [name_m]Otis[/name_m] and [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] the best with your surname. I think it is wise of you to avoid names ending in “n” as well those beginning with “F”. Here are some other suggestions.

[name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_m]Heath[/name_m]
[name_u]Bryce[/name_u]
[name_m]Archer[/name_m]
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
[name_u]Amory[/name_u]
[name_m]Wyatt[/name_m]
[name_m]Miles[/name_m]/[name_m]Milo[/name_m]
[name_m]Bennett[/name_m]
[name_u]Douglas[/name_u]
[name_m]Walter[/name_m]
[name_u]Merritt[/name_u]
[name_m]Gareth[/name_m]
[name_m]Asher[/name_m]
[name_m]Clark[/name_m]
[name_u]Dexter[/name_u]
[name_m]Teague[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugh[/name_m]/[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_u]Rhys[/name_u]
[name_m]Gilbert[/name_m]
[name_m]Garrett[/name_m]
[name_m]Luther[/name_m]
[name_m]Rhett[/name_m]
[name_m]Grant[/name_m]
[name_u]Dean[/name_u]

Of your choice, I quite like the sound of [name_m]Clyde[/name_m] [name_u]Fallon[/name_u], [name_u]Reed[/name_u] [name_u]Fallon[/name_u], and [name_u]Everett[/name_u] [name_u]Fallon[/name_u] the best. I like the idea of Zeller in the middle.

Other ideas for your consideration:

[name_m]Ezra[/name_m]
[name_m]Lewis[/name_m]
[name_m]Miles[/name_m] (nn [name_m]Milo[/name_m])

Well, I’m going to start with [name_f]Anthea[/name_f]. Greek, a bit obscure, a little bit old-ladyish, pretty.

[name_m]Calvin[/name_m], [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m], [name_m]Foster[/name_m], [name_m]Findlay[/name_m] have the same old-fashioned vibe.

[name_m]Baxter[/name_m], [name_m]Clyde[/name_m], [name_m]Otis[/name_m], [name_m]Cashel[/name_m], [name_m]Lazlo[/name_m], [name_u]Everett[/name_u], [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], Zeller…same thing going, but some have a little bit of a funky, exotic twist added.

[name_m]How[/name_m] about:

[name_m]Cyrus[/name_m]
[name_m]Amos[/name_m]
[name_m]Quentin[/name_m]
[name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m]
[name_m]Barnaby[/name_m]
[name_m]Walter[/name_m]
[name_u]Micah[/name_u]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_m]Tobias[/name_m]
[name_m]Alonzo[/name_m]
[name_m]Simon[/name_m]
[name_m]Gilbert[/name_m]
[name_m]Simeon[/name_m]
[name_m]Judah[/name_m]
[name_m]Linus[/name_m]
[name_u]Lionel[/name_u]

My son is named [name_m]Clyde[/name_m]. His nickname is Mr Muffins. We figured if he really wanted to shorten his name he could go by [name_m]Cy[/name_m].
People seems to have strong reactions to his name. Some people [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] it and some people just don’t get it. I feel like it is in a sweet spot though- It has one spelling, it doesn’t sound like any other names, and even though it is very uncommon as a name in his age bracket everyone recognizes it as a name.
However, with three months you have time to mull it over. There are LOTS of good names. Maybe focus on getting to a list of 5 that you both like.
I like [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] from your signature. Is that one still in the running? [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Harvey[/name_m]? or [name_m]Walter[/name_m]?
