I know, i know… I freak out every month and every month it is a fake out! But yet again here is another month and here I am again! Please humor me
Shortest period I’ve ever had. First day was [name]June[/name] 3rd, and it was over by the morning of [name]June[/name] 5th. Two full days. Regular flow. [name]June[/name] 9th I started having severe nausea. I’ve had it off and on since then. It gets bad in the morning, goes away, and comes in waves through out the day. I have weird cravings. Thinking of eating anything cooked or hot makes me feel sick. All I had yesterday was toast and a smoothie. And even though I felt sick, a Swiss roll cake sounded good and sat fine!
I am moody, exhausted, anxious, and just sort of feel generally weak at random points through out the day. Could it be possible? Does this sound familiar to anyone? I thought maybe I was getting the stomach flu. But it hasn’t gotten worse, I have no fever, and like I said it comes in waves!
I know everyone will just say that I should test! And i probably will tomorrow morning. But does this sound familiar to anyone’s experiences?
I think I am just going to go out and stock up on dollar store tests to have around at all times! I just can’t stand not knowing one way or the other. So silly!
You’re not being ridiculous, but it does sound kind of like you’re just sick. I mean, I did bleed when pregnant a little bit, but not a regular flow. Bottom line, if it was a abnormal period for you go ahead and take a test. Also, no fever doesn’t mean you are not sick, and being sick has seemed like it caused me to have a shorter period before, but I guess I don’t actually know if that is typical. I agree, buy a bunch of dollar tests to keep around if this is you have constant pregnancy scares. Or are they scares? [name]Do[/name] you wan to be pregnant? I hope you get the result you want, test now and maybe in a week or two also.
I had about a 4 day period with my ectopic pregnancy. It is possible to have a small period while pregnant. And, yes, it never hurts to do a quick, cheap test. Good luck
We were not planning on it but I am always secretly hoping for a positive we would be extatic if it was a positive, but not heartbroken if it wasnt, since we aren’t technically trying yet!
Who knows. I may have caught a little something, and my mind I just fabricating bigger and better things. But, my symptoms last month before I got my short period were very abnormal. I tested about 3 days before my period and for a negative. Then I got the period and didnt think twice about it until I started feeling the random waves of nausea.
Well, I’ll be the voice of encouragement, as I had “early pregnancy bleeding,” which I thought was a stone-cold normal period, the first month of my current pregnancy.
But of course, I’ll repeat what you already know-- just test! No reason to wait until tomorrow, unless you like holding on to a flicker of hope/dread :).
Thanks blade, you are always so helpful! There were no complications associated with the early pregnancy bleeding were there? I thought it would be best to wait until the morning for accuracy. I’ve been drinking lots of water all day. But considering it has been over a week since my period, should time of day not matter?
Yes, my son has CF. Thankfully he is symptom free. His mutations are very rare (A455E and r117H), and both generally have mild or no CF symptoms. The most likely problem he’ll have is infertility due to BAVD (bilateral absence of the vas deferens), but the risk of that is still fairly low I think. We are very blessed. We found out about his CF through a newborn screening test, otherwise we would have never known he had it.
The screening is great. My grandparents didnt find out that my dad had CF until he was five years old. The drs called it all kinds of other things… And a lot could have helped him had they known earlier! He wasn’t supposed to live past high school but he made it well into his thirties… The norm for his mutation. He had infertility issues as well (he was technically my step dad). So glad to hear your little one is symptom free and will likely stay that way
Yeah, the newborn screenings are really helping more babies get help faster. I know one family that has two little girls with CF. The first one was three, and had not had the nb screen. She had been diagnosed with various problems, but not CF. When the second daughter was born, the nb screen had been put in effect and they found out she had CF. Of course, they then tested the older daughter and found out what her problems were. There is so much research that shows that early intervention makes a huge difference. It’s wonderful that they finally implemented the newborn screening program. I’m so sorry for the loss of your dad. CF is such a horrible disease.
I take care of end-stage CF patients via lung transplants, pancreatic resections and numerous bowel problems. Horrible disease.
@bostonsavvy if you’re pregnant, you’re 5+ weeks pregnant, and at this point diluting your urine with the normal physiologic swings in water intake will not matter.
Because your last “period” would have been early pregnancy bleeding, not an actual period. Therefore, your gestation would be calculated from your last period in [name]May[/name], which means you’re over five weeks pregnant. However, if your last period (eight days ago) was a real period, you wouldn’t be pregnant because your ovulation date would be taking place about now. You can’t test (and expect an accurate result) until you’re AT LEAST ten days past ovulation (i.e. when your next period is due).
Thanks for all the helpful info guys sorry for my brain lapse! Failure to see the obvious right there.
CF is really an awful disease. My dad was on the list for a lung transplant but ended up taking himself off the list. Risks outweighed benefits for him. Can’t imagine having two kids with CF!
