So I am still searching and trying to decide about my third son’s name coming this summer. My older boys are [name]Owen[/name] and [name]Rhys[/name]. My top contenders ( thanks to nameberry feedback ) right now are [name]Liam[/name], [name]Tate[/name], and [name]Miles[/name]. DH is now reading baby wizard and says he likes [name]Cael[/name] or [name]Kane[/name]. What do you think of these? Also our name is Canale, does this work or too much C sound? I like the way [name]Cael[/name] looks and the Celtic connection- which [name]Kane[/name] also has. thanks berries!!
A big No to [name]Kane[/name] because [name]Cain[/name] was the person in the Bible who killed his brother.
[name]Cael[/name] reminds me of kale the vegetable.
The only 4 letter ones I can think of now are:
[name]Zane[/name]
[name]Earl[/name]
[name]John[/name]
[name]Joel[/name]
[name]Jace[/name]
[name]Eben[/name]
[name]Will[/name]
[name]Ryan[/name]
[name]Koby[/name] ick!
[name]Toby[/name] love
[name]Beau[/name]
[name]Josh[/name]
Mm . . . I’m not a fan either I think, for the same reasons as the person above me, plus the double C/K sound with your last name (personal preference, I don’t like alliterative names).
I love [name]Liam[/name], [name]Miles[/name] and [name]Tate[/name] though!
[name]Rollo[/name]- thanks for the info on [name]Kane[/name]!! That it just horrible! I did not know- and a very bad omen to say the least. Ok well that is a big NO!
I like [name]Eben[/name]. That’s new to me…I guess I am still gravitating towards the 4 letter thing afterall:-) I also love [name]Toby[/name] but feel like it should be a nn for [name]Tobias[/name].
In the real world I don’t see someone being called [name]Tobias[/name] as a full name everyday. I bet in one second [name]Tobias[/name] would become [name]Toby[/name]. I think [name]Toby[/name] is a great name, friendly and intelligent and hardly used.
Agreed! I think I prefer [name]Tate[/name] to [name]Toby[/name] though - sounds better to me on an adult. Maybe I just need to stop looking. I enjoy the process I guess!
[name]Cael[/name] is problematic for me. The pronunciation is unclear and it reminds me of [name]Kale[/name] the vegetable. I like [name]Kane[/name] and the Biblical reference doesn’t bother me since the spelling is so different ([name]Cain[/name]).
I really like [name]Miles[/name] and [name]Tate[/name]!
[name]Kara[/name] I think you have covered all bases with the names on your shortlist. I think all of the names stylistically are great with [name]Rhys[/name] and [name]Owen[/name].
Here is my appreciation of the names
[name]Tate[/name] a strong, rugged, manly and handsome name I like the the combo of [name]Tate[/name] [name]Alexander[/name].
[name]Liam[/name] a popular and very likeable name, an intelligent guy who is easy to get along with, however, it doesn’t give me the strong vibe of [name]Tate[/name] and I have to admit that unlike lots of people I am not fond of the name [name]Lee[/name] on a grown man as it seems a little insubstantial on a man.
[name]Drew[/name] is great and combo of [name]Drew[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]. [name]Drew[/name] is a bit of a live wire, tons of energy, very likeable and gregarious, handsome and popular.
[name]Reid[/name] a contender somewhere along the line, this name makes me think of a tall man with dark hair in a very classy business suit who has a flair for business and is drop dead gorgeous to the girls.
Lastly, the five letter name - [name]Miles[/name]. [name]Love[/name] it and the perfect choice for me.
I think [name]Andrew[/name] would be the top mn contender due to family association but I do love [name]Alexander[/name] too.
So, if you can relate to any of these names with an image that draws you in then I think you are very close to choosing your ideal name.
Thanks again- I don’t know how I would name this child without your guidance and keeping me back on track!
I agree and I adore [name]Tate[/name], [name]Miles[/name], and [name]Drew[/name] would even be cool. My husband’s twin is [name]Andrew[/name] - as I have shared with you, so [name]Drew[/name] fits with my sibset and yet, honors his twin. I like [name]Liam[/name] but I feel like it a bit too expected and too common for my liking. I feel like the other choices are more refreshing.
[name]Rhys[/name] was almost [name]Reid[/name]- gorgeous name but in the end I went with [name]Rhys[/name].
Ok - I think I will just sit tight on my short list and put down the baby naming books!! LOL!
Yes, take some time out to socialise ie ‘do coffee’ with your friends (as I do), and have a little fun time before baby arrives when you have your hands full, and have no time to spare for such idyll pursuits!
I think you already have a great shortlist but I just wanted to say NO to [name]Kane[/name] and yes to [name]Cael[/name], which may be prn. more like [name]Cal[/name] I think?
Another 4 letter name that starts with C: [name]Colm[/name]
[name]Cael[/name] is actually like said like [name]Kale[/name]. [name]Colm[/name] I just don’t care for. I do like [name]Cade[/name] - but won’t do it since it has been run down by Cadens.
I really like [name]Tate[/name]. I even thought of [name]Talen[/name] but seems a lot like [name]Owen[/name]. DH doesn’t love it and my 16 year old nephew actually said he hates it but I like the short, strong and yet preppy and happy feel. [name]Liam[/name] is OK and it fits so well but doesn’t have that WOW factor for me. [name]MIles[/name] is also a great name.
I guess I am still thinking there is some magic name out there that will amaze me. I also think I am thinking about this way too much since this is my last baby!
I get a harsher feel from [name]Ivor[/name] then I do with [name]Owen[/name] and [name]Rhys[/name]. I just wish [name]Liam[/name] was not so darn popular. I just feel like I want something a little fresher - although I do like it. My husband and I both have 4 letter names, as do our children so I feel like baby #3 should too or they will be the only one left out. I like [name]Quin[/name] but I think it looks to much like [name]Owen[/name] when written.
