My husband and I are debating whether ‘[name_m]Asher[/name_m]’ would be good for a girl. Any thoughts?
I prefer the name [name_f]Asha[/name_f].
Only for a boy.
I think It would work, but I also would prefer the spelling [name_f]Asha[/name_f]
[name_m]Asher[/name_m] is a man’s name. [name_f]Asha[/name_f] is a good alternative.
I agree with above, [name_m]Asher[/name_m] is very masculine. I do really like [name_f]Asha[/name_f] though!
All of the female Ashers I know are spelled [name_f]Asha[/name_f], but prn the same.
I think it could be cute! I don’t get why so many people on Nameberry are so against more masculine names on girls, I think they can be great.
I’ve always thought it sounds great for a girl. I know sisters called [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_f]Asha[/name_f].
Does it sound like “[name_f]Asha[/name_f]” with your accent? Because the [name_m]Asher[/name_m] I’m familiar with is [name_u]Ash[/name_u]-Er. I really couldnt see it on a girl.
I don’t know anyone called [name_m]Asher[/name_m], so I could definitely see it on a girl. It hasn’t got any clear masculine sounds [name_f]IMO[/name_f] (not like [name_m]Jason[/name_m], for example) and the nature connection with ‘ash’ makes it more plausible to be unisex for me. I would probably use [name_f]Asha[/name_f] just because that spelling is prettier to me.
I prefer the spelling [name_f]Asha[/name_f] on a girl, but [name_m]Asher[/name_m] could work as well.
Any of the [name_u]Ash[/name_u]-surnames are plausible girls’ names to me ([name_u]Ashley[/name_u], Ashworth, [name_u]Ashton[/name_u], etc.), but [name_m]Asher[/name_m] being an ancient Hebrew male name with a meaning in its own right, I don’t think it could be used as a girl’s name.
What about [name_f]Asha[/name_f], which the others have suggested, or Ashwynn, which is a Medieval female name?
I agree that if you’re worried about the history of a name then [name_m]Asher[/name_m] is for males only, but if that doesn’t bother you then why not let [name_m]Asher[/name_m] join the slew of female [name_u]James[/name_u] we hear about?
My baby cousin is named [name_f]Asha[/name_f], and I think it’s a sweet name. By the way spell it however you want! (:
There’s a popular actress on Australian TV named [name_m]Asher[/name_m] Keddie and it suits her just fine, so I think you’d be safe with [name_m]Asher[/name_m] or [name_f]Asha[/name_f] for a girl - they both sound the same in my Aussie accent anyway!
I think [name_m]Asher[/name_m] is nice for a girl, it reminds me of [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] but has a much cooler vibe. A bit like [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] or [name_u]River[/name_u] I think it could easily be unisex. Are you considering middle names? Something like [name_m]Asher[/name_m] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] would be very pretty and zen or you could go more badass and do something edgier like [name_m]Asher[/name_m] [name_f]Zadie[/name_f] or [name_m]Asher[/name_m] [name_u]June[/name_u]
