I have a story.
Death’s apprentice, who manifests in the form of a teenage boy (19ish) takes children on one last adventure before dropping them off in the Afterlife. Usually his ‘clients’ are between the ages of 2-11, but when a fluke, unneccesary death occurs, he’s assigned ______. A teenage girl about to graduate high school, who died in a car accident. Death himself offers her two options; take the adventure and then go to the Afterlife, or be treated as an adult. She choses the first at the request that she spends it with the Apprentice, whose name in a past life was [name_m]Eric[/name_m], nn E, and they fall in love and all that. I need a name for a stubborn, sarcastic teen who is witty but sensitive.
also, should the story be narrated in E’s perspective (third person) or the teens? which would be more interesting?or should i go chapter-by-chapter, switching characters as I go?
thank you so much. I know that’s a lot to read, but it means a lot.
First off, the point of narration would be incredibly interesting in both situations. From the E’s point of view, it accentuates how odd the situation is to him and how odd she is compared to people he’s dealt with in the past. But if you narrate it in the teens POV, it would make all that is happening with E seem much more magical and mysterious compared to her mundane by comparison old life. They would both be interesting but I think it depends whether you want it to be more of a fantasy based story (E’s point of view) or like a huge fantastic spin on someone’s regular life (Teen’s point of view).
As for her name, here are my suggestions: [name_u]Riley[/name_u], [name_f]Luna[/name_f], [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], [name_f]Willa[/name_f], [name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f], [name_f]Natasha[/name_f], [name_f]Hallie[/name_f], or [name_u]Bay[/name_u].
First of all, [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the idea, would definitely read this!
Secondly, I have a similar situation (as in one person from the normal world, the other accustomed to magical stuff) and the best way I found to narrate it was switch out each chapter. I also found this an awesome way to move the story on when I got stuck because the other person can know something the other doesn’t.
As for names, I know the vibe you’re going for (I have a character like it - different story) but for that work I didn’t land on a name that I felt represented her nature, I just loved the name ([name_f]Gracelynn[/name_f]).
Possibilities:
[name_u]Arden[/name_u]
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]
[name_f]Tawny[/name_f]
[name_u]Waverly[/name_u]
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f]/ elowyn
Penryn
[name_f]Samara[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarai[/name_f]
Dovesary (quite out there but I love the nn [name_u]Dove[/name_u])
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Alana[/name_f]
[name_f]Taryn[/name_f]
Thank you! I may or may not be posting this completed story on Storybird—my username is the same if you want to read. I honestly didn’t think this was a good idea, at first. haha. thanks for the suggestions!
